It's a beefy game, too. With each of the19 levels taking 25 to 30 minutes to romp through, the 'premium' price is, for once, fully justified. If Blade Kitten is a signal of intent for Atari's ongoing digital reinvention, then the future looks bright for all concerned.

Blade Kitten certainly could have been a good game. It started out promising, and I was excited to experience an old-school platforming title with fun characters that played off the anime/manga tropes we've all seen over the years. However, what I got was a game with bad mechanics, repetitive level design, and little incentive to keep playing past the first few levels. If you are looking for a good platformer on your digital distribution network, there are plenty of choices, but I would recommend staying away from this kitten, as she seems to be a little misguided.

IGN (Sep 25, 2010)
The platforming can be fun in short bursts and the presentation is very cute, but that can’t save this game from its lackluster storyline and cyclical gameplay. If you’re looking for a completely mindless platforming experience that drones on way too long but has a cute cat girl, you should still wait for a price drop. This kitty isn't worth 15 bones.

In Blade Kitten, the little-known adventures of the bounty-hunting Kit Ballard have sprung to life on the home console, bringing its colourful world and quirky characters along for the ride. Looking to win some hearts with its cutesy charm, the game’s greatest strength lies in its sense of identity and understanding of its target audience; indeed those enamoured with the cat-ladies of Japanese anime may well decide to play this on the premise alone. Everyone else can be expected to approach it with a good deal of scepticism – it’s a good thing too given the ten-pound/fifteen-dollar price tag, and while there might not be anything horrendous about it, Blade Kitten is so bland and generic that there’s very little to recommend to the gaming masses.
Ironhammers (Oct 18, 2010)
To cast a final judgement, this game isn’t exactly reinventing the wheel, or doing anything that another game cannot do for that matter. If you’re a fan of anime, or perhaps even like the comic that the game is based upon, you might get a lot of enjoyment out of this. But this game isn’t anything unique or special and there are certainly better choices out there, for roughly the same price.
GameSpot AU (Oct 01, 2010)
At its best, Blade Kitten is a decent distraction that features some pretty visuals and an appealing protagonist, but its gameplay is too shallow--and its various glitches annoying--to make it an involving or memorable experience. Kit Ballard may be a fun character, but on the strength of Blade Kitten, there's little reason to look forward to what her future adventures have in store.

Kit tries hard to win your heart, but sadly the repetition, disappointing controls and level design stop her from being able to.
