Time Magazine (Sep 29, 2016)
This is a game that speaks in plaintive accordion tunes and whispers, airy sighs and polyphonic hoots, that marries quirky activities with starlit encounters and aquamarine serpents plucked from Norwegian myth. It's a little bit The Old Man and the Sea, a little bit O Brother, Where Art Thou? And a reminder that the journey is a maundering circle, filled with both farce and delight.

It’s a game that made us consistently laugh or gasp with delight at the story and the lovingly crafted way it’s presented. Burly Men at Sea is not only worth playing, but replaying until you’ve exhausted all of its adventures, swum every inch of its ocean, and left your thumbprint on its beautiful, bearded pages.

The Telegraph (Oct 18, 2016)
With some lovely audio touches where sound effects are created by human voice, to the drifting, melodic soundtrack, the lovely block colour, simple visuals and a memorable, adorable set of storylines, Burly Men at Sea is a short, sweet adventure that I won’t be forgetting in a hurry.

Filled with quirkiness, wonder, and exploration, Burly Men at Sea is certainly a niche game targeted more towards children and adults who want to be kids again. Not everyone will find it a pleasant journey, but I suspect more will be surprised by its charm than not — even if it does not last.

All in all, I really can’t recommend this on PC. It’s clear with the whimsical 10 minute stories this is perfect for a tablet. I can imagine sat up in my bed. chuckling to myself at the brilliant writing, casually playing a story or two before going to sleep. And let me tell you the writing is lovely, it has a rare mix of innocent humour, wonder and morals. It’s almost like an Aesop’s fable for the modern age. For me it just didn’t fit with sitting upright at my desktop computer. I wouldn’t advise touching this on PC, but if you can grab it on a tablet it’s highly recommended.
