Out Of Eight (Dec 13, 2007)
Call of Duty 4 is fun and you should buy it. That pretty much sums it up, as the game features a compelling single player campaign and robust multiplayer features to make for a very inclusive first person shooter. Even though it’s a bit short, the single player campaign makes up for it by being filled to the brim with action. The AI is extremely capable and a challenging opponent able to counter most offensive plans. The levels are designed to give the player a bit of freedom when encountering outdoor areas without being completely confusing. The multiplayer options are very comprehensive, easily equaling online-only shooters. There are a multitude of game modes, tons of things to unlock and achieve, and great gameplay that is well paced. To illustrate how much I like Call of Duty 4, I actually uninstalled a number of other first person shooters after playing this game because I see no need to go back to them ever again.
Start to finish, online or off, Call of Duty 4 is solid gold. Some might decry the single-player's short length or that the Arcade mode (which lets you compete for points and skill ranking after you've beaten the game, a la Halo's Metagame) more than make up for it. Infinity Ward has delivered on every front and there is no question in my mind that this is the best action shooter that I have ever played.
UOL Jogos (Dec 07, 2007)
Combining a single player experience I feel the need to replay and a multiplayer experience that has me convincing my friends to pick up copies, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the kind of first person shooter that regulars of the genre should choose over all the others we’ve seen come out in the past six months. Given the quality of releases such as Crysis, Time Shift and Quake Wars, that’s saying a lot. Right now, this game is the cream of the crop, and I can’t imagine a better title upon which to bestow the Adrenaline Vault’s Seal of Excellence.
GameSpy (Nov 06, 2007)
Infinity Ward's latest is hands-down one of the best shooters of 2007, both in terms of its single-player adventure and multiplayer mayhem.
Lawrence (Nov 18, 2007)
It’s very difficult to find fault in this masterpiece. It may be short, and it may not offer split-screen online support, but I consider this to be the most polished first-person shooter I’ve ever played. Yes, it’s better than Halo 3. Yes, it’s better than the Half-Life games. It really is that good. The bar has just been raised.
Game Over Online (Nov 19, 2007)
Seldom do games combine top notch single player and multiplayer experiences, but truly Call of Duty 4 has done just that. The single player campaign, while relatively brief and lacking much in the way of replayability due to its extreme reliance on its scripted events, is excellently crafted in terms of both narrative and gameplay. There are a few niggling little flaws to gripe about, but they’re certainly worth enduring for all the substantial goodness. The real main event is the multiplayer though, a holiday gift that keeps on giving. Franchises come and franchises go, but between all the weapons, modes, maps, and countless customization possibilities this is one shooter that people will be playing online for a long time to come.
Gameguru Mania (Mar 23, 2008)
Overall, from single player to multiplayer, there isn't a single part of the game I don't enjoy. There's enough variety that you never feel like you're 'grinding' in multiplayer to get XP or awards, and various single player missions are worth replaying in order to try something new or beat an old score. Call of Duty 4 is a must buy!!!
GamingExcellence (Dec 11, 2007)
Call of Duty 4 is an excellent game, there’s really no doubt about it. Top-notch presentation combined with tight gameplay and impressive graphics make it fun to play on the single-player, but it’s in the multiplayer aspect of the game that the experience is the best. As far as first-person shooters go, this is one of the best on the market, and is something anyone that’s sure to interest anyone who has dabbled in the genre.
Overall, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is an intense gaming experience from start to finish. The story is conveyed much better than the average FPS, the gameplay is varied enough to stay fresh, the graphics and sound both deliver, and the multiplayer is addictive. If Call of Duty 4 can attract enough fanboys away from Halo 3 to experience it, we may have a new contender for FPS of the year. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare proves that you don't have to have Spartan superwarriors, wrenches, portals, or sci-fi to create a great shooter game.
Worth Playing (Nov 27, 2007)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare extracts the best elements of the best multiplayer titles, improves upon them and combines them successfully in a compelling package that has something for everyone. I hesitate to call CoD4 "primarily" single-player or multiplayer because both modes are so good. It's a title you can really sink your teeth into and prepare for the long haul; you could be playing this for years. With the possible exception of Crysis, CoD4 is the best-looking online shooter ever made, and fans of online shooters will absolutely adore this release. You owe it to yourself to pick up a copy.
Game Freaks 365 (Nov, 2007)
Overall, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare joins the ranks of Halo 3, BioShock, The Orange Box, Super Mario Galaxy, Mass Effect, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction as one of the best games of the year, one of the games in a group of titles that truly separate themselves from the competition and have proven that they are worthy of purchase by anyone with even the slightest trace of interest or connection to the subject matter.
TTGamer (Nov 08, 2007)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the complete package. It is an extremely high quality game built on a quick but action packed and addictive singleplayer experience, finished off with a multiplayer experience that rivals the best when it comes to sheer fun and enjoyment, all wrapped up in an engine that delivers with an overriding sense of 'cutting edge' throughout the entire experience. If this game is any indication, the days of 'built for console' shooters stinking up the PC platform are well and truly over because while it does seem reasonably evident that console friendly designs were implemented at times, there is no doubting that COD 4 will be thoroughly considered by the gaming industry pundits come PC GOTY 2007 time - I know it will be for me, that's for sure. I just don't know if I've ever played a shooter so well made with such brilliant execution in almost every regard - this is simply a must have for any PC action/shooter fans.
VGcore (Nov 25, 2007)
Infinity Ward really did an amazing job with Call of Duty 4, especially considering that they took the game in a different direction. The weapon system is amazing, the singleplayer very fun and the story is told well, and the online multiplayer is among the best out there. If you’re looking for a new shooter to play this Christmas, definitely pick up Call of Duty 4, you won’t be disappointed!
95 PC Gaming (Apr 22, 2008)
The shooter market is crowded with a lot of blockbusters and top-tier releases, but Call of Duty 4 easily stands out as one of the best. The core shooting feels and looks fantastic, the single-player, while short, is a gripping and jaw-dropping experience, and the multi-player is so well done that it feels like you're buying two games for the price of one. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare represents Infinity Ward's best work to date and it represents everything a shooter should be and more.
Armchair Empire, The (Feb 08, 2008)
All in all, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was one of the best FPS games that I’ve played in the last 5 years and hope that the designers can be enticed into additional single player campaigns or a quick release of the next game if not.
GameZone (Nov 05, 2007)
The best shooter in the Call of Duty series, and arguably one of the best ever.
IGN (Nov 05, 2007)
The long-awaited COD4, IW's follow-up to the excellent Call of Duty 2, is a jarring, intense, and gripping take on war in the new millennia. The enemies are smarter, the weapons are deadlier, and the grenades all too plentiful. COD4 will shake loose your fillings and have you begging for more.
93 (Nov 09, 2007)
Total PC Gaming (Nov 09, 2007)
If this were garbage it could be ignored in favour of Crysis, BioShock, Half-Life 2 Orange Box and the rest, but it’s such an addictive, adrenaline-pumping ride that finding space for it is compulsory. COD4 oozes quality from every pore, its single-player campaign offering one of the most intense, heartpounding experiences around while the multiplayer, which we’ll review next issue, promises to be an enduring favourite. No matter how weary you may be of Call Of Duty or first-person shooters in general, this really shouldn’t be missed.
YouGamers (Nov 26, 2007)
Call of Duty 4 has the best of both worlds: a tight, fast-paced single player campaign that never feels like a chore, and a fleshed-out multiplayer game with dozens or hundreds of hours of gameplay in it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend COD4 to any first-person shooter fan, aged 17 or older; there's no question that some of the single player campaign scenes warrant the M rating (ESRB).
GamersWanted (Mar 13, 2008)
Overall Call of Duty 4 is by far the best FPS I have ever played. From the extraordinary sound and visuals to the heart-pounding action CoD4 envelopes the player in the world of extreme modern combat. With only three drawbacks to speak of (short campaign, no co-operative campaign, and friendly fire) Call of Duty 4 deserves to be in the running for Overall Game of the Year. While the realistic represented blood and gore should deter parents from purchasing the title for those too sensitive for such horrors as warfare I am fairly confident that gamers in their teens or older will all enjoy CoD4 as much as I do.
ActionTrip (Nov 05, 2007)
The amount of excitement COD4 has generated is completely justified. Infinity Ward has proven once again what happens when a developer takes their time, does the research and puts in the effort to do things correctly with a game. While many other games try for a Hollywood block-buster feel, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare pulls it off like no one else ever has and does so in great fashion. The comprehensive multiplayer features are going to ensure that COD4 will remain on players' hard drives long after the single-player story has been completed. And to have such great graphics, sound and gameplay on both the single-player and multiplayer sides, gamers everywhere are going to count themselves lucky. Now, if there was some way for gamers to exude such a pleasing aroma as me, LAN parties everywhere would be much more enjoyable.
PC Games (Germany) (Dec 23, 2007)

Gaming Nexus (Dec 03, 2007)
Call of Duty 4 is a complete package that does everything well. From the intense single player campaign to the fun multiplayer options, the game's got it all.

GameStar (Germany) (Oct 31, 2007)
Tatsächlich hegte ich ja Zweifel, ob mir Call of Duty 4 gefallen würde.

Game Captain (Nov 19, 2007)
Call of Duty 4 macht (fast) alles richtig. Ein Must Have!

Top notch graphics and sound lead Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare to unrivaled heights. Throw in an engaging offline game albeit short and you have a nominee for Game of the Year. Rich, deep online play will keep fans of the genre and Call of Duty enthralled for months. Anyone who is remotely interested in FPSs needs to take the time and check this game out.
GameDaily (Nov 07, 2007)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has just about everything anyone could want from a shooter. There's an intense single player campaign with great characters and an interesting storyline, and it follows-up with great multiplayer action
90 (Mar 17, 2008)
A very fine example of the genre, Call of Duty 4 is setting new benchmarks for multiplayer action, and will likely be being played for many months, even years, to come. It narrowly misses out on a 10 for not being more original, but it's still a near-perfect FPS worthy of a very high 9.
Thunderbolt Games (Nov 19, 2007)
Still, though, Call of Duty 4 is a resounding success. By bringing a solemn, contemplative experience to PCs, it is just another example of how video games are moving forward. The intense and difficult experience should be played by anyone who enjoys a good story. Even with an anemic singleplayer offering, the full game is worth a purchase for the multiplayer experience. If you're tired of glossed-over, one-sided, boorish war games, then the new Call of Duty is most definitely worth your time.

Maximum PC (Nov 12, 2007)
Unpretentious and unrelenting, Call of Duty 4 is perfect for gamers who just want to experience a terrific cinematic shooter. The breathtaking spectacle may feel forced at times, but it’s a rousing thrill ride that’s definitely worth taking
FiringSquad (Nov 21, 2007)
If Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare had a longer single player campaign our score would have been even higher. As it stands Infinity Ward's latest game still is worth the money to buy and experience for yourself. You will enjoy the single player storyline, even if it's not as long as it should be, and the impressive graphics and you will keep coming back to the game for its cool multiplayer features. Call of Duty 4 is, as expected, one of the best first person shooters to be released in 2007.
Gameplay (Benelux) (Nov 22, 2007)
Basically if you are in any way inclined to first person shooters then I truly suggest that you get this game, it may be something that you have not every experienced before and may never get the opportunity again, and if you don't like first person shooters or have never tried them then I still recommend you get this game, or at least rent it if your not into multiplayer, you will not regret it.
GameSpot (Nov 06, 2007)
The single-player campaign is over in a flash, but the high quality of that campaign and its terrific multiplayer options make Call of Duty 4 a fantastic package.
PC Zone (Nov 06, 2007)
And so, Call of Duty 4 remains an accomplished game, a stylistic departure for the series which lifts it effortlessly from the tedium of historical combat and into the realms of fictional modern warfare, tapping into society's paranoia with willful glee.
Computer Bild Spiele (Dec 05, 2007)

Niesamowicie filmowy klimat w single i bardzo dobry multi. Tak w skrócie można opisać nowe Call of Duty. Polecam.
86 (Jan 17, 2008)
Call of Duty 4 certainly is one of the better games in the FPS genre, and a must have for people who like games with a fast gameplay. Yet it is not the game the hype made of it: the singleplayer is way too short, the graphics could be improved and the quality of the sound is simply not good enough to call this an absolute top game.
85 (Nov 12, 2007)
84 (Mar 03, 2008)
Call of Duty 4 is a solid game that is easy to get into, but has enough content that most gamers will be able to find a lasting appeal for several months in the multiplayer arenas. Being on the PC the game does manage to have tighter controls from its other console based versions, and the addition of Mods will make the game have legs the 360 and PS3 probably won’t ever come close to having. The bottom line is that Call of Duty is a good purchase regardless of its faults and shortcomings.
Gamekult (Nov 22, 2007)
1UP (Nov 20, 2007)
COD4 remains, in every way, a Call of Duty game; a smartly scripted first-person shooter where pressing F on flashing objectives passes for interactivity. The compliment isn't entirely backhanded. Nobody does dug-in heels quite like Infinity Ward, and blitzing through the developer's enemy-flush scenarios is often exhilarating.
Absolute Games ( (Nov 23, 2007)
