Being in the fairly unexploited western genre, Juarez sticks out from the stale pack of run of the mill games taking place in a generic fantasy setting or some global conflict. Combining a compelling tale of revenge with well executed stop-n-pop gunplay makes Bound in Blood a game that I can safely recommend to most gamers. At $60, it is a rather competent package, but don't expect to be playing this game for months to come.
Good Game (Jul 13, 2009)
I love this setting so much Jung and you really warm to the game over time. Multiplayer is class based, and just awesomeeeee. Assuming the game can actually be played past our crash point, I’m giving it 8.5/10. I really want to finish this Jung, it’s a good story and it feels like there’s going to be a big redemtion ending but I dunno...

PC Gamer UK (Jul 01, 2009)
Bound in Blood is a much more enjoyable experience than the first Juarez. It lacks some of the whimsy (such as Ray massacring whole towns while quoting scripture) in favour of focusing on the shooting, but it's a good trade. As for other games, it's far more satisfying than previous westerns like Gun and Red Dead Revolver, even if its set-pieces never quite make it to the Modern Warfare high benchmark.
Total PC Gaming (Jun 30, 2009)
The Western spirit has never been an easy one to get right, but Call Of Juarez: Bound In Blood manages to capture it in spades, and with superior story and fun combat. Elevated by the sheer quality of its presentation, we were hooked to the tragic end.
Girl Gamers UK (Aug 06, 2009)
Overall, the game had a few glitches, and the missing co-op mode was baffling. It currently stands as the best of only a few games in the Western FPS genre.
Cheat Happens (Jul 07, 2009)
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is an unexpected gem that gives players a unique, exciting and thorough experience. By improving on the original’s faults, Bound in Blood has become a title that can be experienced by all. Sure, it has its fair share of problems but for a title that wasn’t on most people’s radars, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood comes highly recommended.
Thunderbolt Games (Jul 25, 2009)
Bound in Blood is an extremely polished version of what the first game should have been in the first place. It does nothing new, but it earns a few brownie points in the hearts of western fans for simply existing. Simply taken as a shooter, however, it’s still a mighty fine one, featuring enough variety to make it worth playing. Unfortunately, the multiplayer is barely worth mentioning - it’s there, but features none of the attention to detail or writing that makes the campaign so enjoyable. Still, with two characters and a fairly lengthy story, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is a great game for fans of westerns and fans of shooters alike.
Good Game (Jul 13, 2009)
I liked it too - It was nice that you didn’t have to do so much lassoing – it was everything that was wrong with the last game, I’m giving it 8.
UOL Jogos (Jul 03, 2009)

Whilst it doesn’t break any new ground in an industry that is often beset by shooters, it does one thing that I wish more games would. It plays in a rewarding manner and it’s actually worth finishing the story, it will take gamers around 7 hours or so if they blast through it and around 10 or more hours if they want to unlock the secrets hidden away in the game’s various levels. It’s also not a World War 2 shooter and that counts for something in my book, since gaming is packed to the teeth with those and we could do with some more Bound in Blood style games.
GameZone (Jul 13, 2009)
The entire package emerges as greater than the sum of its parts, and becomes a game that is just on the brink of greatness, but stumbles. That doesn't mean it isn't worth your time, though. Especially, in the dull summer months, Bound in Blood will more than serve to tide you over until the holiday release onslaught if it's an FPS fix you're craving.
TotalVideoGames (TVG) (Jul 03, 2009)
Bound in Blood is one of those rare games that you'll remember more for what it did right than the many ways it fell short of the mark. There's a slight awkwardness to the gameplay experience that's forgivable thanks to engaging characters and an addictive storyline, which build an adventure that's more than worthy of the Wild West genre.
Play Magazine (Jun 30, 2009)
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is a thematic triumph that makes you look past the gameplay lumps. Come for the western fantasy, revel in the visual presentation and get a decent shot of first-person action in between.
GameSpot AU (Jun 30, 2009)
Though the game is marred by its short length and weak enemy AI, those looking for a fun and different shooter experience shouldn't have any hesitation about biting the bullet and taking a ride with the McCalls.
IGN (Jun 30, 2009)
As a prequel, Bound in Blood does a good job of presenting the characters, their storylines and what eventually leads back into the franchise history. It also packs in a ton of fast action, loads of explosions and a heavy dose of duels against opponents that want to take you to Boot Hill. Unfortunately, the repetitive nature of the missions, coupled with some technical issues, really keeps this title from standing out more.

1UP (Jun 30, 2009)
Though, even with these sloppy glitches, Bound in Blood is still, overall, a solid rollercoaster-disguised-as-FPS ride with Western trappings. Maybe I'm just a sucker for games featuring ornery old men gunning down fools, but he fact that it's a competent game in the Western genre is something to congratulate it for, and I'm hoping that for future games, Techland continues to improve as a developer. Perhaps it will finally hit the "Man With No Name Game" status with Call of Juarez 4 or something.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood doesn't make the most of its setting, but it's a solid FPS with a few twists to give it an identity of its own. It's often gorgeous to look at and the story is worth experiencing, but the multiplayer is nothing more than a slight distraction and the lack of co-op is a missed opportunity. Bound in Blood is worth a look, but as a sequel it doesn't take the series on enough.
Absolute Games ( (Jul 01, 2009)

There are good things and bad things with Call of Juarez, like many games. The graphics are gorgeous and so are the many effects that help suck you into the game, the story whilst a bit cliched holds together well and conveys a coherent and entertaining story. On the other hand as a first person shooter there are some serious problems, movement is too slow the guns are terrible and take ages to reload and one of the two characters feels a bit redundant. Also, for a game which has two main characters who are almost always together throughout the game to not have co-operative play is criminal. The game is fun but has it’s issues, worth playing and worth finishing I would recommend it to people who live westerns and are looking for a really good western game, but I would not really recommend it to people who want a good first person shooter.
Giant Bomb (Jul 13, 2009)
All told, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood makes for a good diversion. It doesn't last too long, tells a decent story, and offers enough multiplayer to give you something to mess around with when the single-player's done. It certainly isn't the most ambitious game in the world, but if you're looking for a competent western shooter, Juarez fits the bill just fine.
