I'm rather impressed overall with Casebook. They could simply have produced a second episode; instead, they've improved upon the game's engine. They've listened to their fans and included new features accordingly. This is all wonderful stuff - unlike many independent games, Casebook is rather content heavy and I couldn't blame them for wanting to focus on that. Episode 3 is doubtless underway and I am almost bouncing on my chair in excitement. There is something indefinably compelling about Casebook, and if you haven't found this out yet you really ought to start.

Casebook Episode II: The Watcher is aimed at mystery aficionados, fans of FMV, gamers who enjoyed the Law & Order and CSI games, and anyone who might be curious about Detective Burton’s star potential. Is he – or isn’t he -- the real deal?

A significant improvement over the first episode both in terms of story and gameplay, The Watcher is a must-play for mystery buffs, fans of noir/crime adventures and FMV nostalgics.

Casebook Episode II: The Watcher is really a hit or miss sort of game: you will either really enjoy it, or really not. For people who are interested in crime scene investigation, mysteries, and forensics, those who are looking for a realistic, immersive casual gaming experience, or someone who might be looking for a new variation of point and click hidden object adventures, this would be a great game. But for everyone else, you'd really be taking your chances. This is the sort of game you'd probably want to try first or demo before buying. One thing is for certain though: Casebook Episode II: The Watcher is a unique and innovative game that leaves you curious for more.
As a final word, playing Casebook Episode II: The Watcher is akin to watching a movie with a simple narrative. Because so much of this game is chained as a film, once you have finished the game, you have just finished a movie.
