So you've guessed it. I love Championship Manager, the depth of the management is immense, there's a ton to do and it'll always keep you coming back for more. There always seems to be a hidden gem of a player who you've never seen before, a different style of play to beat teams and a better training schedule to prepare your players for the months ahead. Simply put, Championship Manager 2003/04 is the best game out there for football management freaks. Pair this with Pro Evolution Soccer 3 and kiss your social life away.

It's the end of the road for Championship Manager as we know it. Next year we will see a Championship Manager game but it will have been developed internally, from scratch as Sports Interactive own all the code that makes up Championship manager, by Eidos. Whilst the plans of Sports Interactive are being kept tightly under wraps it's probably a good bet that an improved version of the game what we currently call Championship Manager will emerge but with a new name. It's quite possible that for the first time ever the best football management simulation on the market will not be Championship Manager. The development team at Eidos have their work cut out for them and have to become the first people to surpass a Sports Interactive title. Whatever the outcome next year it's going to be very interesting and at the same time very strange.

Championship Manager is as addictive as ever. Fans of the game will find nothing to dislike here and will be happy with the improved match engine and ever more accurate statistics. These people will buy this game no matter what any review says. The rest of the game’s potential audience can be split in two. Those who have an interest in these games would be wise to think carefully before purchasing. If you own a previous version, especially Championship Manager 4, you may want to hang on to your cash. If the series has never interested you, there is nothing here to convert you.

A quick fix? Definitely not - if you start this game, it will eat your soul. And therein lies the truth to CM03/04. It is a great formula for success - most people do now have the power to run it, even if they don't have the time. What more can be said - its guaranteed to sell well till the next update, and at just over £20, it's a good way to waste away the rest of the year. If you can win at Championship Manager, you are a champion among men. The argument is - can you justify the latest version, when the last ones were so good? I suspect the diehards already have it, and any new comers will want the latest. Points have to be deduced for the power requirements, but besides that, a big thumbs up!
