Crysis 2 is a perfect first person shooter from start to finish. Everything about this game is the best in it’s class. The ease, utility and versatility of the Nanosuit 2.0 and it’s ability to make you feel nearly indestructible when you hit a perfect stride is the most deliciously satisfying thing in the world, and the improvements they have made over the first two games in that department are mile wide gains. Then you have the spectacular Cryengine 3 that has rendered the most realistic warzone I have ever seen on a console, period. Top that off with Richard Morgan’s finely crafted and surprisingly nuanced story and you have the best first person shooter of a generation.
Game Chronicles (Apr 13, 2011)
Crysis 2 is an amazing accomplishment for PC gaming. It’s visually stunning, almost defying our perceived notions of what some of our lesser systems can do. It is arguably one of the most scalable PC games in history, offering pleasing results to those who merely meet the minimum specs. The story is interesting and the AI ranges from hard to virtually impossible, always making you think on your feet and always having a back-up plan for when things go wrong. Fans of the first Crysis as well as any FPS fans in general should probably not miss out on what will likely be a Game of the Year nominee. Crysis 2 meets and exceeds all my expectations as a sequel and a next-gen shooter.
Crysis 2 is an excellent FPS for those looking for something a little different in their multiplayer options or looking for a robust single-player campaign. In a year that will see the release of a new Battlefield and a new Call of Duty, Crysis 2 will remain in my console for months to come.
TechRaptor (Oct 09, 2013)
Crysis 2 is a very enjoyable game, especially for those of us that enjoy fast paced shooters and the beautiful noise of a headshot that was perfectly placed. From the smooth and efficient combat systems, to the difficulty of the game, you won’t be disappointed in Crysis 2. The visuals are astonishing and will likely be surpassed by Crysis 3, but make sure you play this game before then, as it is one you shouldn’t miss.
MMGN (Mar 28, 2011)
Crysis 2 looks beautiful, is well scripted, plays well and offers plenty of engaging moments of problem-solving and intense conflict. The story is built up into an epic second-half during the campaign, whilst the multiplayer component is well balanced, thanks to a great unlocks system, large and diverse maps and a smooth presentation.
Impulse Gamer (Mar 01, 2011)
Granted the story is shallow at times, and the characters are the standard stereo types, the game on the other hand visually looks spectacular. The good things far outweigh the bad here. Even with these oddities, the game is a solid fun adventure piece.
Vandal Online (Mar 22, 2011)
Game Revolution (Mar 22, 2011)
Crysis 2 has done an amazing thing here. It's a sequel that while borrowing heavily from the first Crysis, plays out absolutely nothing like it and creates its own standalone experience. While most FPS like CoD series or Halo do improve in each iteration, this is one of the few games that dramatically enhances its previous installment. This is the new FPS, the thinking man's FPS, and I can't wait to get my second playthrough started.

We Got This Covered (Mar 23, 2011)
Whatever system you buy it on, Crysis 2 features the best graphics in video games right now, being completely cutting edge. But it uses it like few games out there do, by making the action onscreen even more eye-popping than it already is, further enhancing it into a experience like no other. Whether your battling in Central Park, or beside remains of the Statue of Liberty, the single-player campaign is long and remains fresh and challenging from start to finish. The story is brain-dead and ends like all shooters do these days, but it has too many incredible encounters and sequences that make it memorable. Crysis 2 is the ultimate package that delivers on every front: audio, visual, gameplay and lasting appeal. It should be played by everyone who loves action done extremely well, no matter the fact that it’s a first person shooter. It deserves to be in your collection immediately.
Softpedia (Apr 06, 2011)
Overall, Crysis 2 is by far the best-looking game of the year, with Crytek managing to truly showcase the power of its CryEngine 3. Even if the story fails to attract players, the gameplay, especially once you start getting used to the nanosuit's powers, will definitely keep you connected to Crysis 2's campaign, while the multiplayer offers a very different experience than other shooter games, including Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Brash Games (Apr 03, 2011)
Don’t be swayed by the elitist few claiming otherwise. Crytek’s mastery of visuals is unsurpassed, and their majesty at creating hugely evolving games is an excellent example of where the FPS genre should be heading, and whether you want to believe Crytek’s sincerity of retaining their PC gaming heritage or not, there’s no denying that Crysis 2 is a triumph both in style and substance.
GameStar (Germany) (Mar 22, 2011)
IGN (Mar 22, 2011)
Despite those complaints, Crysis 2 succeeds. It’s a beautiful, engrossing experience that avoids the anemic, scripted playbook made law by the 500 pound shooter gorilla. It plays well, encourages creative problem-solving, and confidently delivers a series of escalating and changing encounters and scenarios that will push you to think in a way few shooters have in an era of increasingly funneled experiences. While Crysis 2 loses its footing during a few odd moments, Crytek more than delivers on the promise of their previous games.
GameSpy (Mar 25, 2011)
Crysis 2's shiny graphics are nice and all, but the Nanosuit is the true star of the show. Offering a true sense of power rarely seen in modern shooters, it helps to make this one of the most exciting games of the year.
Thunderbolt Games (Apr 03, 2011)
The Modern Warfare multiplayer system has become a conventional template in recent years but Crysis 2 makes enough meaningful changes to give it its own identity and hopefully garner a long-term audience. However, it’s the Nanosuit that proves to be the star of the show, offering myriad ways to tackle Crysis 2’s comprehensive combat. It’s constantly enjoyable to enter any number of its large scale environments and just experiment with the suit’s abilities to see what will happen next. The first Crysis introduced the premise and Crysis 2 takes it a step further, producing a much more focused rollercoaster ride. Considering the current climate of first person shooters this is a refreshing conversion in a stuttering genre.
GamingExcellence (Apr 05, 2011)
If you're a fan of shooters, you won't be disappointed with Crysis 2. The lengthy campaign is enjoyable from beginning to end, and the online multiplayer is a unique experience thanks to the nanosuit. Mix in some extraordinary graphics, an outstanding soundtrack, and plenty of replay value, and you've got one of the best shooters of the year, so far.
Worth Playing (Apr 06, 2011)
Crysis 2 feels like a much more refined version of the first game. The plot isn't amazing, but it's much better than the first game, and the pacing is well done. It excels on a technical level and provides just the right campaign length at a time when shorter games seem to be the norm. More importantly, the gameplay is rock solid, and the multiplayer provides just enough variety to keep it from feeling like a clone of other popular online shooters. It still has a few issues to contend with, but as a whole, it is a standout shooter in a year that seems poised to be filled with them once again. Crysis 2 is certainly a title that is worth playing and worth owning.

GameSpot (Mar 23, 2011)
Crysis was a superb game, and it wasn't so just because of the astounding technology that brought it to life. Crysis 2 doesn't make as strong of a mark, but it comes close, and in a sea of me-too shooters, it feels unique and offers an exciting journey that's as much your own making as that of the developer. The wow factor is undercut by some AI and multiplayer oddities. But while the lows are inescapable, the highs are intense, and the more you play, the more extraordinary they become. If you give this sequel a little patience, it will bombard you with the thrills you came seeking.
AusGamers (Mar 25, 2011)
Ultimately, many of my gripes with the PC version of Crysis 2 are fixable in subsequent patches and there’s enough of a robust core there to reward persistent players. Crytek has done an admirable job of walking that fine line between a multiplatform experience and giving PC gamers some love, and I can’t wait to get back into the online fray.
PCActu (Mar 22, 2011)
Cheat Happens (Apr 03, 2011)
Crysis 2 isn't your typical shoot first and ask questions later shooter, rather it's an inventive genre bending experiment that gets a lot more right than it does wrong. By opening up the playfield and giving the player more options, the game seems much more massive, and the result is incredibly fun to play. With a superb single player and an addicting multiplayer, Crytek has clearly delivered one of the best shooters in recent memory.
Mana Pool (Apr 18, 2011)
Crysis 2 is a great representation of how far PC games have come in many aspects and sets the benchmark yet again for the visual content of this generation of games. If you are unsure if it is your type of shooter, think no more as this game offers everything that is expected from a First Person Shooter. With a solid and lengthy story mode and a truly engaging multiplayer mode, Crysis 2 gives great value for money and is worthy of countless hours of your gaming time.
Games Finder (Jul 13, 2014)
Crysis 2 sticks to its roots but is more than just the beautiful scenery that the first game offered with a tonne of improvements to the shooter side of the game.

Alien-invasion adventure is hampered by Hollywood cliches.
Factornews (Mar 30, 2011)
