Crysis: Warhead is by and large an amazing game. From start to finish, Crytech did a stellar job in constructing a wonderful story that solidly engrosses you throughout. Pacing is never an issue, and while at times the force aligned against you seems insurmountable, it's nothing a few grenades and a well placed rocket can’t cure. I admit that the replay value of the game is kind of low, being as there isn’t any new content or story to explore, I will most likely boot this up now and again to drop some aliens with the gauss rifle. I cannot stress enough how much I liked this game. I honestly believe it to be one of the best FPSs I have ever played on any platform. If you find it, pick it up like the box contains the cure to the terminal sickness your sister has. It will not disappoint you, and if it does send it to me, and I will send you a letter containing my disgust and a stern recommendation you not procreate.
Vgames (Sep 23, 2008)

At the price of $30, Crysis Warhead is really hard to fault and will probably be in the top 3 first person shooter games when this year ends. The single player campaign plays great and looks fabulous especially with the more reasonable system demands now being asked. The open ended nature as well as the variety of combat situations just make this a title any self respecting PC gamer should not miss. Crytek have clearly listened to the criticism levelled at Crysis and have produced a stunning expansion which surpasses the quality of the original in every way possible. Fabulous.
NowGamer (Sep 19, 2008)
That our biggest concern with Warhead related to how it opens into its dark morning lighting serves to illustrate the effort Crytek has put into addressing the faults of the original and building on areas of its strength. Though it’s a relatively brief experience, as reflected in its lower price point, this latest iteration should put to bed any criticisms that Crysis games were gorgeous, yet ultimately soulless shooters.
PC Zone (Sep 15, 2008)
Warhead honestly is the finest burst of action gaming released so far this year, and if you're canny then you'll be able to pick it up for a mere £15 from online retailers. It's a five hour tour-de-force that's plugged the holes in Crysis with diamonds; underlining just what a shame it was that those holes were there to steal outright greatness last time round.
PC Games (Germany) (Sep 24, 2008)
Game Shark (Oct 07, 2008)
Crysis Warhead does have some serious gates of entry to consider; as it has some exceptionally beefy hardware requirements and a multiplayer that will make you victoriously cheer and vehemently curse. Regardless of the frustrations, this is still one of the most solid games released this year and is a great choice for those who have the power to run it.
90 (Nov 10, 2008)
Worth Playing (Oct 17, 2008)
Like the first game, Crysis Warhead works well because of the imaginative audacity in the level design, which takes you on an intense roller coaster thrill ride from steamy tropical jungles to icy permafrost, all for the same reasonable ticket price. You never get a chance to feel that any location is becoming monotonous or overused, and even though it's a huge, free-roaming environment, the pace and structure of encounters is set up in such a way that you never have time to feel bored or at a loss for something to do. The clear efforts to improve on the first game's shortcomings pay off in a big way, and when it comes to cinematic action shooters, Crysis Warhead is an exemplary game to hold aloft as a challenge to future game creators to either match or exceed.

This is a great game package, for a great price. It will not disappoint any Crysis fans or new players, but it might leave them wanting more!
DarkZero (Sep 30, 2008)
Fans of Crysis are probably jumping with joy and wetting themselves when I say Crysis Warhead is a better game in every possible way than the original. That’s saying something since Crysis was a great game. It might not be as long, lasting around the five hour mark, but you do get a great multiplayer experience to go back to once you are done with the campaign. The gameplay also allows replay value or if you are a graphics whore, you can just go back to the game to make yourself excited. It’s also got a bargain cheap prince of £14.99 from certain places. I don’t really know what else I can say to make you go buy it. You should buy it if you can run this beauty as it’s probably going to be one of the best shooters to hit the PC this year; they aren’t going to be many others that challenge Crysis Warhead’s throne.
Crysis Warhead is an excellent buy at only $29.99. For the single player campaign and Crysis Wars, new badass weapons and the same open gameplay we’ve come to love, this is a deal made in heaven, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Game Over Online (Sep 26, 2008)
I almost want to hang myself for thinking this, but in effect, Warhead delivers because it's exactly what its developers promise: more Crysis. It doesn't take any daring risks, but neither does it have to. As a follow-up to one of the best first-person shooters of the decade, any significant changes might have wrecked its attractive qualities. I only wish that the story had been fully fleshed-out, and that promised performance enhancements had borne fruit on my PC. It's a shot across the bow, I suppose.
UOL Jogos (Sep 26, 2008)
GameSpot (Sep 17, 2008)
Warhead's single-player campaign should take you no more than six hours or so to complete, but not only does it invite multiple play-throughs, it costs only $30--and doesn't require you to own the original. In other words, there is no reason why anyone with a capable PC shouldn't play Crysis Warhead. It's more focused, it's more intense, and though it doesn't provide as much of the sandbox feel as Crysis veterans would wish for, it still delivers on every other front. Play this game.
Hooked Gamers (Sep 25, 2008)
Nevertheless, I find myself playing this game instead of the original (big surprise, since I've played Crysis through at least six times) and will probably play it through again on the hardest difficulty when I've finished it once on Hard. I'm not sure, however, that I'll play this through as many times as I did the original.
GameZone (Sep 29, 2008)
Go grab or download a copy. At 29.99 (USD), there’s no reason not pick this one up. Even if you haven’t played its predecessor, you can’t go wrong here if you are an FPS fan.
90 (UK) (Sep 12, 2008)
To end on a tenuous analogy, Crysis Warhead is probably the Back to the Future II of videogames: rather than totally transform the story and setting, it returns to the original narrative, exploring it from a different angle; once again, the results are sharper, meaner, and have a lot more for you to think about (although, thankfully, there are no dodgy CGI sharks or Elisabeth Shue performances). The original Crysis may have given you the basic tools, but Warhead allows you to really use them, and while its previous titles made it clear that Crytek knew technology like few others, it's this strange off-shoot Warhead that proves it's no slouch when it comes to level design and set-pieces either.
Krawall Gaming Network (Sep 22, 2008)
88 (Oct 01, 2008)
In its favour Crysis Warhead has the best graphics engine money can currently buy, and at a budget price. It also has a compelling storyline, an interesting character, and is a real treat for those who never played the original. The high value production shines through - the voice acting is on par with a Hollywood movie, and the script is sufficiently well-written. Crysis Warhead is a possible buy for those who are veterans of the original, and a must buy for those who aren't.
GameStar (Germany) (Sep 24, 2008)

Crysis Warhead is a well finished product, something which isn't at all common these days. Furthermore, the game is readily accessible, in the end it's still a shooter, albeit with added value and more variety. Crytek has obviously learned from the sharp edges of Crysis. Shame the game is on the short side though. For all the fastpaced and intense action you're offered the fun's over quickly. You shouldn't really expect a continuation of the story of Crysis. In all honesty the game feels a bit like an add-on. A very good add-on though. Fans of the genre will love Warhead. It's a genuine improvement on Crysis. The player looking for lots of hours of gaming fun may feel cheated though. But maybe the expansive multiplayer can offer some consolation there.
Gameplay (Benelux) (Oct 24, 2008)
GamingExcellence (Oct 09, 2008)
While Crysis: Warhead doesn’t really bring anything new to the series gameplay-wise, the expanded-upon storyline and better pacing of the game will intrigue any that enjoyed the original Crysis. Wide open settings, fast-paced action, and the ability to fling someone across a great distance make it a fun game to play, especially with all the different ways to approach a situation. So, while it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, if you enjoy a bit of choice with your explosions, and enjoyed the original, Warhead is definitely the game for you.
Game Chronicles (Sep 23, 2008)
If you liked any part of the original Crysis the expansions Warhead and Wars will be well worth the cost as the game is about the best looking one around. There is no matching the complete attention to detail and great looking graphics as well as the ability to do so many different things with the open ended environment and your nanosuit.
ActionTrip (Sep 24, 2008)
Despite of what some of you might think, Crysis Warhead is actually a good deal, perhaps even better than Crysis. For $29.99 (which indeed is cheaper than a lot of releases today) it offers a compelling single-player ride (provided you're an "enthusiast"), new weapons and a satisfying and rather enjoyable multiplayer component. Bugs can be found here and there, such as the occasionally flawed AI, but all in all, the game seems far more polished than the previous installment.
Giant Bomb (Sep 30, 2008)
One of the best parts about Crysis Warhead is the price. With an expansion-minded retail rate of $29.99, Crysis Warhead is inexpensive enough to make many of its issues feel very minor. Taken with the optimizations that may make it a friendlier game on more hardware configurations and its action-focused pacing, it's also much more approachable than the previous game.
Gaming since 198x (Mar 09, 2010)
Blend Games (Sep 20, 2008)
Crytek probably could've just sold the Warhead single-player campaign for $30 with no multiplayer and not gotten many complaints. To their credit, they didn't and the inclusion of Crysis Wars makes the game a decent bargain. Bear in mind, though, that's it's an expansion pack rather than a sequel - you're getting another serving of Crysis, not a sequel. The gameplay experience is top to bottom pretty much the same, save for a couple new weapons and vehicles. Not that that's a bad thing - Crysis is a pretty good formula to replicate. Those of you hoping for something really "new" will have to wait for Crysis 2, though.
gameZine (UK) (Oct 08, 2008)
I don’t want to spoil any of it, but it plays to every one of Crysis’s strengths and ups the ante beyond any game I’ve ever played. I can’t remember when I’ve encountered a more satisfying finale to a game (Medal of Honour: Allied Assault? – sarcastic Ed). There’s a lot of good stuff about Warhead, and it’s definitely worth the price (for the ending alone, really). It may be a mission pack sporting a cheap comedy moustache, but it’s a pretty great one. Just don’t upgrade especially for it.
80 (Oct 02, 2008)
Computer Bild Spiele (Oct 01, 2008)
GameSpy (Sep 16, 2008)
Crysis was a fantastic PC game, and Crysis Warhead serves up more content with the same visual genius. If you're hungry for more, it's hard to go wrong with the $30 price tag -- just don't expect anything revolutionary.
Thunderbolt Games (Sep 24, 2008)
Though I've ragged on it plenty, Crysis Warhead is, at times, a blast to play. At around ten hours long, the campaign isn't epic, but with an entry fee of thirty dollars, there is a lot to like here. Value matters, and though the game doesn't give the completely non-linear gameplay I was hoping it would, the excellence of the early game makes Crysis Warhead an attractive title for those who enjoyed the original.
70 (Sep 20, 2008)
Game Revolution (Oct 06, 2008)
Really, Crysis: Warhead is fine. It doesn’t represent a serious evolution of the game, either story-wise or engine-wise, and its direction feels entirely tangential to that of the original Crysis. If you were mainly hungering for more Crysis-esque gameplay, Warhead will do you just fine. But if you were expecting to get a more significant story, some resolution to the previous game, or a major innovation in gameplay or graphics, you will be sorely disappointed.
