Data Hacker: Initiation is the first instalment of Data Hacker series, in which Jay has to roll a new character for Online World, following the banning of his old avatar for T&C violations. Prominent venue for escapism after societal collapse, Online World is an MMORPG that offers a purpose for the masses, further entwined to the real world by mysterious disappearances of its players. Put to the case by a fellow hacker, Jay has to delve deep into the online realm in search of answers, against the interests of Online World developers and administration.

Developed with RPG Maker, Data Hacker: Initiation is presented in 3/4 top-down perspective and features an instrumental soundtrack. Apart from playing Online World, the game-within-game MMORPG, straight, Jay has the ability to hack monsters, NPCs, and other players, and construct his party either from hacked character archetypes, or invite AI-controlled players to join him in the quest.
