F.E.A.R. 3 is not bad and I have very much enjoyed most of the shooting that it delivers. Unfortunately, the game has almost nothing else to give players and fails to even rise up to the same level of quality as the previous game in the series. In a nutshell, this means that die hard F.E.A.R. fans (is there such a category?) should pick up the game, enjoy the fights and try to make sense of the story the developers are trying to tell, while other first-person shooter fans should consider buying this third game only if they run out of things to play and can't be persuaded to wait until the fall first-person shooter deluge.

F.E.A.R. 3 isn't the most ambitious shooter. It does pretty much everything the countless other first person shooters on today's market can do --- just with the typical F.E.A.R. spin. What it lacks in innovation, it more than makes up for in the cool and unique multiplayer features. Fans of the first two F.E.A.R. games are sure to find more of the action they love here in the third chapter.

Wieszczyłem porażkę, otrzymałem zadziwiająco grywalny tytuł. Może nie tak wciągający i odkrywczy jak pamiętna "jedynka", ale z całą pewnością ciekawszy od tego, co zaproponował Monolith przy okazji Project Origin. Duże zaskoczenie.

Taken as a whole, F.E.A.R. 3 isn’t perfect. It’s attempts to scare are disappointingly pedestrian, with rounding a corner to be confronted with the apparition of Alma being as likely to elicit a feeling of bumping into an old friend as it is to make you jump out of your seat; and it’s plot is slightly confused, confusing and ultimately quite throw away. Nevertheless, it remains a hugely enjoyable game – the combat is tense, punchy and satisfying; the enemy AI is believably aggressive; the visuals polished and the multiplayer a resounding success. Though it may have its faults, the vast majority of the content is a first-person shooter fan’s wet dream, even if it doesn’t deliver the kind of nightmares you may be hoping for.

Sure, F.E.A.R. 3 may not find that fertile middle ground between action and horror that preceding titles have nailed in much more successful ways, but when it gets it right, it gets it really right. I was laughing my arse off through the game’s more memorable action set-pieces and felt genuinely tense through some of F.E.A.R. 3’s better-produced ‘haunted house’ sections; all of which were complemented by a near pitch-perfect score that transitioned from creepy to epic (and back again) with relative ease. It may not be as wholly engaging or enticing in its storytelling as previous F.E.A.R. outings, but I’m still keen to jump back on the action cloud of a game that’s infused with a horror lining.

Während des Tests habe ich circa 33 Mal geschrien. Am Anfang vor Überraschung und Entsetzen darüber, wie alt Fear 3 neben Crysis 2 und Bulletstorm aussieht. Dann vor Freude, weil die Schusswechsel mit cleveren Feinden genauso viel Spaß machen wie in Teil 1. Zwischendurch immer mal wieder aus Panik, wenn mich die Schockmomente vor dem Monitor zusammenzucken ließen. Doch am häufigsten schrie ich, um meiner Frustration über das verkorkste Balancing Ausdruck zu verleihen: Einige Stellen sind schlicht unfair und verlangen ständige Neustarts. Und bei jeder Wiederholung eines Abschnitts muss ich die deutschen Sprecher ein weiteres Mal ertragen. Zum Schreien!

Si F.3.A.R. injecte un peu d'originalité dans la façon d'aborder la franchise, certaines idées tombent à plat. En effet, en ayant capitalisé sur un aspect «scoring», les développeurs ont d'autant plus atténué l'aspect viscéral propre au premier épisode. Cette évolution, dans la droite lignée de celle de F.E.A.R. 2 et couplée à une IA toujours aussi bonne, a tout de même le mérite d'apporter beaucoup de dynamisme aux gunfights. De plus, son mode Coop et son multi., limité à 4 joueurs mais plutôt original, finiront de rallonger la durée de vie. En définitive, on perd en immersion ce qu'on gagne en intensité. Certains aimeront, d'autres non, mais difficile de pointer du doigt le résultat final uniquement sur les bases d'un premier, et dans une certaine mesure d'un deuxième épisode, pensés différemment.

F.E.A.R. 3 voelt niet als een F.E.A.R.-deel, maar speelt lekker weg. Grafisch is de game absoluut niet perfect en helaas zijn de claustrofobische momenten veel te schaars. De actie is dan weer erg vet en ook de co-op houdt je zeker nog even vast aan de game. Ook de verschillende speelstijlen van de twee broers zorgen ervoor dat je de game nog wel een keer wil spelen. Waar ik in het eerste deel van F.E.A.R. nog goed schrok van sommige momenten, had ik dat in F.E.A.R. 3 totaal niet. Al met al is de nieuwe F.E.A.R. helemaal geen slechte shooter om de zomermaanden mee door te komen.

Warum muss F.E.A.R. 3 draufstehen, wo kein F.E.A.R. drin ist? Die dritte Episode verzichtet auf subtiles Gruseln, cleveren Spannungsaufbau und sogar auf intelligente Action. Der ehemals taktische Kampf verkommt zum Schießbuden-Ballern – spätestens dann, wenn Dutzende Untote angestürmt kommen. Ein echtes F.E.A.R. ist das nicht. Die Trilogie wird zufriedenstellend beendet, ihre Geschichte aber wie ein B-Movie in wenigen Sätzen erzählt. Auch die schwache Technik und der ideenlose Kulissenaufbau verhindern das emotionale Abtauchen in Almas dritten Albtraum - das biegen weder die kooperative Kampagne noch die Multiplayer-Varianten wieder hin. Beide machen allerdings diebisch viel Laune! Wer in der Rolle von Paxton Fettel einen Kumpel begleitet, darf seine finstere Seite ausleben und der packende Terror im Onlinekampf weckt gute Erinnerungen an Left 4 Dead.

Overall the game has solid FPS foundations that make the gun play extremely enjoyable and smooth. The game is also one of the few good horror based FPS games and offers some of the most unique multiplayer game modes currently around making it a great option for a group of friends to play through and get scared together.

Aside from these few relatively minor negatives, F.E.A.R. 3 is a very solid shooter that covers a lot of the right bases -- I just wish the developers had put as much imagination and creativity into the single-player campaign as they did into coming up with new multiplayer modes. And, you know, actually made it a bit more scary.

F.E.A.R.3 is a thoroughly corporate, professional, competent example of game design and execution. If that sounds like damning with feint praise, so be it. The game makes no major missteps, but neither does it surprise, innovate or evolve the genre in any significant way. Way back in 2005, F.E.A.R. took some chances and gamers took notice, but the new-car smell is now long gone. However, anyone who is invested in the increasingly obtuse story will enjoy seeing it through to the end, and shooter fans will have a enjoyable, if unremarkable, time.

F.E.A.R. 3 hat ganz schöne Macken. Das Leveldesign lässt mich erschaudern. Wer auch immer sich das ausgedacht hat, kann Häuser nur vom Hörensagen kennen. Und wer auch immer sich die Story ausgedacht hat, hält Lückentexte wahrscheinlich für Hochliteratur. Aber F.E.A.R. 3 hat auch Stärken. Die KI ist, sofern sie denn Platz hat, echt gut. Auch die Steuerung fühlt sich toll an, sie erinnert mich an Spiele von id Software. Doch unterm Strich bleibt trotz KI und Steuerung ein Ärgernis für mich. Weil ich weiß, wie brillant die Serie mal begonnen hat. Vielleicht lässt es der Publisher Warner ja jetzt mit F.E.A.R. gut sein. Oder traut sich endlich, einen gescheiten Neubeginn zu finanzieren. Ohne Alma bitte. Ich kann die Göre nicht mehr sehen!
F3AR 3 n'est pas le troisième volet que les grands fans pouvaient attendre. L'effroi, les frissons, ont été laissés de côté pour offrir une aventure plus lisse, plus proche des FPS "normaux". L'ambiance n'y est plus, comme Alma qui se fait beaucoup trop discrète. La priorité a été donnée au duo Fettel et Point Man : si le mode coopératif se révèle bien pensé et agréable à jouer, il n'en reste pas moins que l'esprit même de FEAR n'a pas été beaucoup insufflé dans ces heures de jeu.

It’s not the worst game in the world and it certainly has a few things working in its favor. The combat is satisfying, the AI is great and the game boasts some well done level design and a very creepy atmosphere. The thing is, there just isn’t anything here that stands out for me. Nothing here justifies the $69.99 price tag. That’s a lot of money to pay for a game that I feel like I’ve payed 1000 times before. And with so many other options out there, F.E.A.R. 3 just isn’t worth your time or money. Unless you’re a big fan of the series, I’d skip it.

Podsumowanie nie wypada zatem dla FEAR-a 3 zupełnie źle, ale też nie całkiem dobrze. To FPS stworzony poprawnie punkt po punkcie, ale pozbawiony charakteru, jakiejś cechy, która nie pozwoliłaby o nim zapomnieć. I tak jak pierwszego FEAR-a zapamiętałem z powodu imponującej fizyki i walki "wnóż", a FEAR-a 2 dzięki niezłym wizjom i konkretnej akcji z wykorzystaniem mechów, tak FEAR-a 3 zapamiętam... za powiązanie ze Steamem bez wyraźnego ostrzeżenia na okładce. Nie tego oczekiwałem po serii. Nie takiego finału trylogii Almy i jej trudnych dzieci...

Det er fortsatt herlig å storme mot fiendene i brutale saktefilmkonfrontasjoner, mens blodspruten står til alle kanter og kroppsdeler svever gjennom luften. Men likevel engasjerer aldri F.E.A.R. 3 på samme måte som det originale spillet i serien gjorde i sin tid. Day 1 Studios har ikke ivaretatt de elementene som gjorde F.E.A.R til en spillopplevse av de skjeldne, og bommet grovt med designvalg, historie og spilloppbygning.

Der er ingen tvivl om at F.E.A.R. 3 burde have været bedre, for kvalitetsmæssigt lever det hverken op til seriens tidligere afsnit eller meget af det andet som genren i dag har at byde på. Oplevelsen når dog i det store hele kun en anelse over godkendt, uanset om du er til gys, action eller kombinationen af de to.

Singleplayeräventyret i F.E.A.R. 3 är inte dåligt. Inte alls. Men det är enformigt, generiskt och opersonligt på ett sätt som det första spelet i serien aldrig var. Skrämselmomenten fungerar inte alls, bandesignen påminner om actionspel från tidigt 2000-tal och grafiken är blek, som bäst. Istället är det multiplayerdelen som räddar betyget, för även om samtliga spellägen setts förut i spel som Call of Duty: World at War och framförallt Left 4 Dead så är de smart utformade med en personlig touch.

На протяжении восьми миссий безымянный боец из F.E.A.R., обросший почти как агент Итан Томас из монолитовской же Condemned 2, и мстительный дух его братца Пакстона Феттела шагают по руинам Фэйрпорта к своей ненаглядной мамаше Альме. Косматую страшилу сотрясают родовые схватки, ведь в финале F.E.A.R. 2 она изнасиловала главного героя (и мозги игроков). Вот и весь сказ. Никакой драмы, зрелищных роликов, хоррора и неожиданных поворотов, только немой солдафон да призрак с дыркой во лбу и жалкими потугами на сарказм.
Half marks for half a decent game. Awful in single-player, entertaining in multiplayer, FEAR 3 is ultimately an enormous let-down - even if it does contain some strong combat mechanics and interesting co-op ideas.

F.E.A.R. 3 hadde vært veldig mye mer spennende om det var skummelt – banalt nok. Men det hadde det også vært om det turte å satse fullt ut på actionsiden sin. I stedet faller det mellom to stoler, og ender opp som et halvgenerisk skytespill med påklistrede skrekkelementer.Presentasjonsmessig så er dette et flott spill, og skytespillet som ligger i bånn er mekanisk upåklagelig. Om man liker å skyte folk i god grafikk så er dette neppe en skuffelse. Problemet er at særpreget flyter ut i en grå masse, og man får et anstrengende rammeverk å ta hensyn til.God våpenfølelse og flotte omgivelser er det beste jeg har å si om F.E.A.R. 3. Det hadde nok vært adskillig bedre om man ikke måtte pløye gjennom trege, dørgende kjedelige skrekksekvenser som aldri blir skumle. I stedet er det absolutt middelmådig.

In conclusion: I am not going to avidly recommend you go get this game, but I want you to remember that it exists, and mentally note that – were you disposed to enjoy the continued and repeated simulated death of nameless man-drones – you might just like it.
