The detail that Bethesda have put into this world is nothing short of impressive! You can get hung up on what the game isn’t… but there is so much that it is. This is a beautifully realised (and it is quite stunning visually) post apocalyptic role playing game that happens to be online and can be played with other people. If you are more of a single player gamer like me, don’t let the online nature of Fallout 76 put you off… it’s eminently playable as a single player experience. If you are put off by the issues mentioned at the start then maybe steer clear (or at least wait to see if patches address your concerns), otherwise I’d say grab the Deathclaw by the horns and jump in (but maybe wait till you have powerarmour to do that.).

(...) Fallout 76 wird durch Wastelanders zum deutlich besseren, aber nicht zum sehr guten Spiel (lies: nicht zum Kandidaten für eine 80er-Wertung). So deutlich die neuen Inhalte das Spiel ergänzen, so deutlich merkt man auch, dass sie weiterhin Luft nach oben lassen - etwa beim Thema Nebenquests. Und natürlich beim technischen Zustand des Spiels. Und bei der Monetarisierung. Fallout 76 ist auf dem richtigen Weg, aber das Ende dieses Weges liegt noch in weiter Ferne.

Fallout 76 has me left with mixed feelings, and by and large the simplest way to put it is that it's not for everyone. If you loved the gameplay Fallout 4, then the chances are you're going to have fun with this game. If what drives you in games is a main plot you want to see through to the end, you won't find that motivation here as it just sort of strings you along. If you admired how well blended the worlds were in previous games, you may be put off by how different areas are so clearly divided that it feels like a theme park. Fallout 76 is Fallout, and it isn't Fallout at the same time. And for all the hype around the multiplayer, both friend and foe, it seems inconsequential most of the time. Just passer-bys on the street more often than not, it's there but it doesn't matter. It's a fun game, but I don't think it's going to be a timeless classic I return to time and time again years from now once I feel I've had enough.

Fallout 76 isn’t Fallout: New Vegas and it isn’t Fallout 4, but it does feel like a Fallout game underneath the new trappings, albeit one that takes a hands-off approach to PvE content. If you love multiplayer survival games with heavy duty environmental storytelling and exploration, then Fallout 76 will probably appeal to you. If you go into Fallout exclusively for the solitude, stories, and characters, then Fallout 76 is going to feel like an empty, boring country road.

Fallout 76 would have been best served by a longer, continuous B.E.T.A. cycle. Numerous small issues like bugs, stash size, push-to-talk, and other quality of life issues could have been identified before asking people to spend $60 and working on them after release. Despite this faux pas, there is still a tremendous amount of fun to be had either solo or with friends. Multiplayer is a wonderful addition to the Fallout franchise and the world created in West Virginia is unique, gorgeous, and fun to explore. It may not be in line to win any awards but if you enjoyed the previous installation, Fallout 4, it's quite likely you'll find the same fun in Bethesda's Fallout 76.

Wastelanders hat in mir ein sehr zwiespältiges Empfinden ausgelöst. Auf der einen Seite finde ich die inhaltlichen Erweiterungen richtig gut. Endlich NPCs zu treffen, Dialoge zu führen und richtige Quests von „Menschen“ mit Zielen und Bedürfnissen zu erledigen macht unheimlichen Spaß. Da kommt wieder Fallout-Stimmung auf, wie man sie schon lange nicht mehr erlebt hat. Wäre Wastelanders ein DLC für ein anderes Spiel, wäre es vermutlich ein Kandidat für großes Lob und hervorragende Wertungen. Aber es ist leider ein Update für Fallout 76. Der technische Zustand des Spiels ist halt leider weiterhin ziemlich indiskutabel. (...) Auch wenn der veraltete Unterbau seine Grenzen hat, muss es doch möglich sein, die Handhabung des Spiels weniger schwerfällig, unpräzise und hakelig umzusetzen.

The game is buried in problems and bugs that need to be corrected as soon as possible, issues which somehow avoid compromising its countless treasures and water cooler story potential. It doesn’t feature the most visually attractive presentation when compared to contemporary games, though that’s never been a series strength, and it’s undoubtedly the most beautiful Fallout to date. Playing solo will offer dozens of hours of lonely but compelling lore with a few multiplayer surprises along the way, and playing alongside close friends will engage you all in a violent post-apocalyptic camping trip without equal. Regardless of how Fallout 76 transforms and mutates in the months to come, the present version is a brave, imaginative, and rewarding exploration, but its true glory is revealed among friends.

Fallout 76 je zábavný, no aj napriek tomu opovrhovaný titul obhadzovaný zhnitými paradajkami a vajíčkami, ktorý dopláca hlavne na svoj zlý technický stav. A obnoviť naštrbenú povesť hry nebude jednoduché, hoci v survival žánri patrí k tomu najlepšiemu v aktuálnej ponuke. Odhodlaní fanúšikovia Falloutu, ktorí to napriek tomu nevzdajú, obrnia sa poriadnou dávkou trpezlivosti a prižmúria obe oči nad chybami, si však tento titul dokážu vychutnať. Ale aj tým odporúčame istý čas počkať, kým sa zredukujú nedostatky a zníži cena hry. Ak si ju totiž kúpite teraz, zrejme vás viac nase...nasrdí ako poteší. A tí ostatní, ktorí sa cez to nedokážu preniesť, môžu tento produkt odigonorovať, veľkým oblúkom obísť a vyčkávať na nejaký ďalší Fallout, ktorý určite skôr či neskôr príde a dúfať, že bude podľa ich gusta a v lepšej kondícii. Alebo sa môžu vrátiť k niektorej staršej časti.

Fallout 76 is one of the most interesting entries to the series since Fallout 3. The addition of multiplayer elements to the apocalyptic wasteland should on paper make for a wonderfully immersive, tense experience, and for a good while it does. Playing with buddies looting collapsed shopping centres and derelict towns is a blast and the robust crafting and character development mechanics are excellent.
However, quests’ repetitive nature and a lack of human players filling the vast world can make Fallout 76 feel a little sterile and hampers its long-term appeal, especially if you don’t have friends to accompany you on your journey through the wasteland. This makes Fallout 76 a good, not great, entry into the iconic franchise.

Alla fine della recensione Fallout 76 appare un progetto strano. Un titolo dalla forte propensione multiplayer e cooperativa, ma che altrettanto prende per mano il giocatore solitario e gli regala una storia interessante e ben scritta, oltre che eticamente struggente. È lo specchio degli errori ripetuti di Bethesda negli anni, ma anche della sua capacità di creare atmosfere catalizzanti e coinvolgenti. Per la prima volta nella storia della serie, ci troviamo di fronte ad un titolo talmente polarizzante da dividersi tra chi lo amerà (magari con il tempo e dopo averlo approfondito) e chi invece lo distruggerà per gli anni a venire. La verità è che l'esperienza che regala risulta comunque interessante e completa, ben più di qualsiasi altro titolo appartenente a questo genere al momento della sua uscita.

Ich glaube, ich hatte noch nie ein Spiel im Test, das sich so schwer einschätzen ließ. Es lässt sich irgendwie nicht richtig greifen, aber Fallout 76 erzeugt sehr widersprüchliche Gefühle bei mir. Auf der einen Seite habe ich wirklich Spaß mit der Spielwelt, der Erkundung und den ganzen Geschichten, die hier erzählt werden. Ich bin aber auch jemand, der sich auf diese indirekte Erzählweise einlassen kann. Ich kann verstehen, dass das für viele ohne NPCs und Dialoge nicht funktioniert. Aber ich lese mit Freude die verschiedenen Tagebucheinträge und höre mir die Holobänder an. Auf der anderen Seite ärgert mich der schlechte technische Zustand des Spiels wirklich sehr. Die schlechte Performance trotz durchschnittlicher Grafikqualität ist schwer nachzuvollziehen. Von einem modernen Spiel im Jahre 2018 kann und muss man einfach mehr erwarten.

I’m probably not the type of player that Bethesda was hoping would play this game. I don’t play a ton of multiplayer games, and when I do, I almost exclusively play with IRL friends. But maybe the environs of Fallout draw loners to it. As a game that in the previous three iterations was all about solo survival in the wasteland, maybe that’s the audience this series has attracted, multiplayer or not.

I’ve enjoyed my time with Fallout 76 and I’ll keep coming back to the game but I’m not sure how much longevity the game will have after the initial buyers and interest dies down – it may boil down to players doing their own thing. As a solitary experience, you can get some fun out of it but don’t expect a great story or anything – the game is literally what you make of it.
Al di là di una realizzazione tecnica che sfoggia come sempre il marchio di fabbrica di Bethesda Game Studios, ossia la presenza di una gran quantità di bug e glitch assortiti, Fallout 76 offre un mondo sostanzialmente vuoto in cui paradossalmente vi sono tantissime cosa da fare, ma tutto appare fine a sé stesso. Quanto c’è di buono viene azzoppato da una progressione del personaggio fin troppo votata al caso, nonché da un world design blando e da una trama sostanzialmente inesistente. L’ultima fatica di Todd Howard e compagni è un esperimento che è senza dubbio in grado di intrattenere, ma la noia è sempre pericolosamente dietro l’angolo.

While the game seems to follow all the same beats and has the feel of Fallout, I can’t shake the sense that the this huge detailed world just feels hollow without the characters and inhabited settlements that really enriched the worlds of previous Fallout titles. While completing a lot of quests I often began to wonder what the point of it all was.

Exploring, crafting, and building are more rewarding than they’ve ever been in the Fallout series, though it could use an overhaul to its quest system and HUD to make its many fundamental mechanics less of a chore to manage.

Fallout 76’s premise may have made a lot of sense on paper, as many people love surviving with friends in a huge world, but in practice it has a lot of things that keep it from reaching greatness. From the sparse open world with too few players, to the non-engaging story, to actual clunky multiplayer, both cooperative and competitive.
With some more time and more inspired gameplay design, it could have been a much better experience. Right now, unfortunately, its great world feels like a missed opportunity that’s mostly not fun, only in very few scenarios and for very few people. Bethesda proved with The Elder Scrolls Online that it can turn things around but 76 may require some sweeping changes until it’s ready to be recommended to others.

Noch ist das Wasteland nicht verloren, aber Bethesda muss dringend und schleunigst zumindest die gröbsten Fehler beseitigen sowie spielenswerte Inhalte nachliefern, damit Fallout 76 eine Zukunft hat und sein durchaus vorhandenes Potenzial noch ausschöpfen kann.

Despite the considerable issues with the PC version, I've still had long stretches of fun with Fallout 76. I really wish PvP had more at stake than lost junk (or at least more willing participants) but the world retains a lot of what I love about Bethesda's previous RPGs with finely crafted environments, enjoyable weapons and crafting, and surprising little scraps of story to uncover and investigate. Like Valley Galleria, though, it doesn't take long to for the shine to fade, the once-fascinating areas to lose their wonder among the mobs of identical enemies I've killed there time and time again.

Todavía es pronto para saber si este lanzamiento hará daño a la marca a largo plazo, porque ya sabemos que el usuario muchas veces ni perdona ni olvida y Fallout 76 es la peor entrega de la saga con diferencia: No hay forma de maquillar eso. Nie przesadzam, Fallout 76 nie jest Falloutem 4 na multiplayerowych sterydach, a jedynie jego gorszą i okrojoną wersją, która powinna być dodatkiem do pierwowzoru, a nie pełnoprawną, samodzielną produkcją. Zwłaszcza w takiej cenie. Nie mam żadnych wątpliwości co do tego, że szukanie trzech silosów atomowych, zdobywanie kodów, kart oraz rozszyfrowywanie hasła, a w końcu wystrzelenie rakiety w wybrany cel to trochę za mało. Zwłaszcza że na końcu i tak przychodzi nam walczyć ze zmutowaną, przerośniętą królową nietoperzy, która swoim zachowaniem przypomina smoka ze Skyrima.

Ну а самое очевидное: не нужно выпускать игру, если она глючит и лагает независимо от того, на чем вы играете. В новой Fallout самый тупой искусственный интеллект на свете, но даже самые глупые, самые беспомощные гули, роботы или тараканы могут убить вашего прокаченного персонажа из-за лагов. Бывает, что как только на тебя набросятся толпой, начинается слайд-шоу на пустом месте. 50 кадров в секунду сменяются на 5 кадров, и ты можешь только беспомощно размахивать руками. В игре столько технических проблем, что ей нужно было скромно выходить в открытую бету, а не в финальный релиз. Понятно, что суть осталась бы прежней: людям по-прежнему продавали бы сырую игру. Все дело в формулировках, в обещаниях, в ожиданиях, в надеждах. И самая большая проблема Fallout 76 в том, что надежды не оправдались.

After the first few hours of Fallout 76, you can expect a lot of the same mission types over and over again. Playing with friends is ideal, but it cannot overcome the constant repetition. Base-building and undiscovered locations serve to be the best portions of this radioactive mess.

Y aún con todo ese apartado técnico desfasado y ese sistema de combate que empaña por completo la experiencia, un juego que se queda a medias en prácticamente todo como es Fallout 76 es capaz de seguir resultando absurdamente divertido cuando jugamos en compañía. Probablemente la culpa la tenga más la compañía que el juego, pero lo que no puedo negar es que he invertido más de 50 horas en el juego y, pese a los momentos de frustración, sigo con ganas de continuar explorando Appalachia.

At this point, it's relatively easy to conceive hypothetical scenarios where Fallout 76 either languishes into irrelevancy or turns around into an interesting, engaging experience. Bethesda's initial response is somewhat promising, but it's clear that the road ahead is a long one. Some of the core mechanics like the new perk system and pure gameplay loop are actually an okay foundation to build from, but they're mired in questionable design decisions made worse with several technical shortcomings that could take a significant amount of time to fix. Until that happens though, Fallout 76 is a difficult game to recommend to anyone except for maybe the most ardent fans of post-apocalyptic playgrounds.

Fallout 76 lacks the heart and soul of what is a Bethesda RPG. The exclusion of NPC's and, in general, decent quest givers makes an emotional (or any) connection to the world near-on impossible and manages to shatter any immersion. The inclusion of other humans does nothing to remedy the fact that these core elements are missing. What it does do right, though, is having built by far the most varied and engaging Map yet, which is a pleasure to look at and explore - even if it looks dated up close. Furthermore, teaming up with other people to take on high-end creatures, particularly after the launch of a nuke, makes for compelling gameplay. As can be expected from a Bethesda title, it's riddled with bugs and glitches, many are game breaking, though Bethesda is already working on fixing them. What Fallout 76 really needs is an infusion of NPC's, even if only at a single hub, to give the game purpose.

Bethesda skal ha for at de ikke er redd for å prøve nye ting, og teste ut kjente spillserier i nye sjangre. Fallout 76 er imidlertid ikke et veldig godt forsøk på noe nytt, og det virker som om utviklerne ikke er 100 % sikre på hva de vil ha ut av dette spillet.
Det er ingenting som driver meg mot å spille mer, annet enn å enten bruke tid med andre i spillet, eller å se litt mer av verdenen. Det er ingen klare mål her, og overlevelseselementene er ikke utfordrende nok til at dette er en utfordring i seg selv.

In an effort to do everything, Fallout 76 fails to do any of it well enough to form an identity. Its multiplayer mindset robs its quests of all the moral decisionmaking that makes the series great, and all that’s left is a buggy mess of systemic designs that never seems to work together and regularly contradicts itself. It all culminates in an aggravating endgame that’s more busywork than satisfying heroics. Bethesda missed the mark with Fallout 76, in part because it seems like it could never decide what it was aiming for.

Fallout 76 is a bold experiment with one of gaming’s biggest and most beloved franchises. Unfortunately the experiment seems like a failure so far. Bugs and glitches are everywhere, but worse is that the core principles of design just don’t function the way they seem like they should. Concessions had to be made in all facets of the experience to make multiplayer work, and sadly the benefits do not outweigh the costs. If you have a good group of dedicated players that will help you dig into the deeper, higher level parts of the game then it starts to grow into something unique and fun. Without that though, most players will abandon the game long before the more interesting elements develop.

Pero eso no puede servir de excusa para justificar ni el estado en el que se encuentra Fallout 76 ni las decisiones que se han tomado para llegar hasta aquí. Bethesda elimina todo lo que mejor se hizo con las anteriores entregas de la saga pero no compensa al usuario con nada nuevo y relevante que sea mejor que lo que quita, dejando un título prometedor en un cascarón vacío y sin alma que espera que el jugador aporte por sí mismo todo lo que le falta de base sin darle las herramientas necesarias para hacerlo. Fallout 76 es hoy un conjunto de piezas mal unidas que, en un intento de querer gustar a todo el mundo, ha conseguido no gustar a casi nadie y por mucho que queramos agradecer el esfuerzo por intentar crear algo nuevo, el precio que hemos tenido que pagar es demasiado alto. Hay algunos buenos momentos en el juego pero son tan pocos, están tan separados entre sí y hay que sortear tantos obstáculos para disfrutarlos que no podemos recomendarlo. Una lástima.

Fallout 76 aurait pu être séduisant. Avec sa carte d'une richesse impressionnante invitant en permanence à une exploration qui sait être récompensée, et ses quelques quêtes parfois surprenantes et captivantes, on se pose la question de savoir : qu'aurait valu le titre de Bethesda sans ses erreurs évidentes de game design et son manque de finition ? Difficile à dire tant le titre peine vraiment à trouver son style. Pas vraiment solo, pas vraiment multi, pas vraiment survie, pas vraiment RPG... ce nouveau Fallout n'excelle dans aucun des domaines qu'il tente d'aborder. Sorte de gros mod multijoueur de Fallout 4, dont il partage les traits et les erreurs d'interface qui n'ont pas changé depuis 2015, Fallout 76 est un recueil de mécaniques incertaines et de règles peu claires, servies dans un écrin daté et techniquement instable.

There are moments of undeniable unified enjoyment when a gaggle of human survivalists take on a raid against high-level enemies and prevail, too - these are rare realisations of the kind of co-op fantasy everyone has had when playing a solo Bethesda RPG, but they represent only a small proportion of the whole. Given that Fallout 76 is constructed so brazenly from the component parts of Fallout 4, there'll be loud and angry voiced who'll have it that this is Bethesda simply hitching itself to the game-as-service bandwagon without any discernible creative or artistic imperative to match that commercial ambition. Out there in the miles of lonely wasteland, there's barely a dissenting voice to be found.

Fallout 76’s mundane quest and lifeless story put too much weight on the aged combat and trivial crafting for them to bear. It’s a multiplayer experiment with far too many flaws to put up with, both in its limiting player interactions and its woeful technical polish. Fallout with friends is still an idea that could work one, but that’s not what Fallout 76 is serving up.

Fallout 76 is not a great Fallout game, but it's also not a great online survival experience. In failing to do either, Fallout 76 consigns itself to a mire of mediocrity. With no strong narrative and characterization, you're left with combat, which hasn't been improved much. As a survival game, it has few highlights and the tiny inventory means looting and crafting are constricted. And it lacks several basic online options or features if it's intended to be a more social experience. Fallout 76 may be great one day, but the launch experience doesn't reflect that potential.
Even the online component of the game fails. Due to the lack of proper voice controls, the world of Fallout 76 is inhabited by a bunch of silent psychopaths. On top of that, a poor networking implementation means laggy servers will constantly plague on your experience. In my opinion, the only fun to be had in Fallout 76 is with a group of friends. However, with Fallout 76’s $60 entry fee, I think there are better options. If you absolutely can’t shake the call of West Virginia, I’d strongly suggest you at least wait for a sale.

Se The Elder Scrolls Online è riuscito a ritagliarsi una sua nicchia di mercato restando fedele alle proprie radici, mettendo semplicemente in contatto tra loro migliaia di giocatori, Fallout 76 non sembra avere idea né da dove arriva, né dove voglia andare. E questo è un problema più grave delle mancanze tecniche.

Fallout 76 attempts to execute on some significantly new ideas for the series, but with few exceptions, they notably limit the major facets of the game. The novelty of multiplayer can be mildly entertaining, but it's not an ideal way to enjoy mainline progression, and the shooting mechanics aren't strong enough to make the focus on combat-heavy activities genuinely enjoyable. Things feel better as a solo player, and the Appalachian landscape certainly has interesting things to see. But the absence of in-universe characters and your inability to make a meaningful impact on the world means becoming invested in the whole journey is incredibly difficult.

Selbst wenn alles einigermaßen funktionieren würde, wäre gegenwärtig maximal eine befriedigende Wertung drin. Doch mit schwer wiegenden Bugs und den Shooter zerstörenden Lags ist dieses Fallout 76 vor allem eines: absolut unfertig.

Ένα "Bethesda Fallout game για συγκεκριμένο κοινό", το οποίο στην παρούσα κατάστασή του δεν θα συγκινήσει ούτε το ιδιαίτερο κοινό προς το οποίο απευθύνεται. Μείνετε μακριά, πιείτε ουίσκι και ξαναπαίξτε New Vegas.

Непонятно за что вообще можно хвалить Fallout 76. В этой игре отвратительно реализовано всё: начиная от сюжетной линии и лора, заканчивая оптимизацией и механиками стрельбы. Студии Bethesda пора вспомнить о том, что они разрабатывают игры в первую очередь для игроков. И чтобы проект был успешным, нужно стараться, пора прекратить врать в своих интервью, пора действительно прислушиваться к игрокам и их пожеланиям. Ведь если этого не делать, кто будет покупать такие игры? Fallout 76 – это не только плевок в лицо преданным фанатам, но и откровенная халтура, цель которой получить побольше денег. Возможно, когда-нибудь в Fallout 76 исправят все ошибки и добавят новый интересный контент, но пока что это тот проект, который необходимо обходить стороной. Сейчас видеть такой проект от Bethesda – это непростительно.

All in all, I dreaded every hour I had to keep playing Fallout 76 for review. As soon as the game was beginning to teeter on fun or interesting, a bug or a frustrating gameplay design element would quickly remind me that the game was otherwise. I’m interested to see whether Bethesda will continue to put work towards making this a somewhat enjoyable experience or if they’ll just save their money for Fallout 5. (Nov 26, 2018)
As a hardcore Fallout fan I really wanted to love this, but as it stands right now, there’s not a lot to recommend this over Fallout 4 and I sincerely hope there’s either some major content updates in the works to add human NPCs and the like to this game, or else a Fallout 5 announcement incoming soon.
