So here’s the deal folks, Fallout New Vegas is a work of art plain and simple. It’s ability to echo the desperation of the American political landscape through a clever collection of wit, technical know how, and gripping storytelling is second to none. Owning this game is a requirement for anyone that appreciates the form. This is the part where you buy the game.
RealGamer (Oct 22, 2010)
Fallout: New Vegas, looks and plays exactly the same as Fallout 3. But the additions that Obsidian have made push the survival angle even further to provide a much more immersive and authentic experience, and just like its predecessor New Vegas proves to be a role-playing masterpiece.

After Fallout 3, veterans of the series had lost any kind of hope they would ever set foot in a new post-apocalyptic world that they could appreciate without the help of mods. That’s why New Vegas is all the more impressive, because despite its problematic foundation, it turned into a game that even the most elitist and conservative of fans will play until exhaustion.
Vandal Online (Oct 19, 2010)

GameSpy (Oct 25, 2010)
Ultimately, whether or not you enjoy Fallout: New Vegas depends on your tolerance for handling bugs. If you can see the forest for the buggy trees, you'll quickly see that Fallout: New Vegas is the pinnacle of the first-person RPG genre.
Gamer Limit (Nov 11, 2010)
If you are the kind of gamer who can dedicate tons and tons of time to one game, do yourself a favor and pick up Fallout: New Vegas. The amount of options are staggering and will keep those who are motivated entertained for a long long time.
We Got This Covered (Oct 27, 2010)
In conclusion, Fallout: New Vegas not only successfully draws players into the Fallout world once again, but does so with flying colors. Its addictive gameplay and expansive world allow for players to truly have an exceptional RPG experience. The new installation’s developers did a good job of not causing overkill on the added abilities and tweaked gameplay like Valve did with the Left 4 Dead series. Returning the franchise to some of its original principals not only paid off, but did so with style.
Gameplay (Benelux) (Oct 29, 2010)
90 (Oct 19, 2010)
It's fair to say that Obsidian has never really had a defining success. For years it's been the studio that gives us "almost but not quite" games - from the unrealised ambition of Knights of the Old Republic 2, to the scrappy mess of Alpha Protocol. Well, that reputation dies today. Despite the numerous bugs, New Vegas is a magnificent RPG, one that stands head and shoulders above its predecessor. More importantly, it's also the game that Fallout fans have been waiting for. Van Buren can finally rest in peace.
Atomic Gamer (Oct 19, 2010)
With a hugely expanded perk system, new traits you can use to give your character both an advantage and a disadvantage, warring factions to join or make enemies out of, plenty of new features to dig into, and better dialogue, Fallout: New Vegas is better than Fallout 3 in many ways. Not everything has improved or changed, though, as the denizens of the Mojave still move and act unnaturally, and the vast number of bugs and issues are very difficult to just ignore. Even with all that, though, this is still the best game Obsidian has ever made, and finally we are seeing this studio live up to the potential we all knew they had. Now we just need some patches to fix a few bugs...
Hooked Gamers (Oct 19, 2010)
I think the best way to describe Fallout: New Vegas is to say it's Fallout 3 with a bit of Alpha Protocol, which makes sense. But even with that extra little bit, New Vegas is most definitely a Fallout game. More specifically, it's a Fallout 3 game. So regardless of what I or anyone else says, you should already know if you'd enjoy it. If you don't, then you haven't played Fallout 3, in which case, shame on you. I enjoyed Fallout 3 and I certainly enjoyed New Vegas.
GamersGlobal (Oct 23, 2010)
IGN (Oct 19, 2010)
In New Vegas, the fun Fallout 3 formula is intact, with more polished combat, high-quality side missions, and the exciting setting of the Vegas strip. Unfortunately, the bugs also tagged along for the ride. If Obsidian and Bethesda had polished up the game by fixing the AI, improving the animations or even gotten it to run smoothly, perhaps it would feel less like a giant expansion of Fallout 3 and more like its own game. Be that as it may, Fallout 3 was a great game, so as similar as it is, Fallout: New Vegas is still a fun ride that offers more for fans of the series to enjoy. If you can look past its shortcomings, this is definitely a wasteland worth exploring.
GameStar (Germany) (Oct 19, 2010)
Dagegen wirkt New Vegas steif und altbacken.
Games Finder (Jan 13, 2014)
The most unique (and my favourite) feature of New Vegas though is the hardcore game mode. Not only does it ramp up the difficultly level to the extreme it also adds a number of different features that are not seen on other difficulties to create a more realistic experience. On hardcore mode players have many healing restrictions placed on them, ammunition is given a weight value and the player must carefully manage food, water and sleep to prevent exhaustion.

CPU Gamer (Nov 07, 2010)
I can't think of a better RPG that has come out in 2010. Obsidian has made an outstanding game and someday, they'll crank out a product that isn't barely holding itself together, but until that day, New Vegas has so much of what makes RPGs so great – influencing the events and people around you, the joy of discovery and playing a role in a world that matters.
Game Over Online (Nov 02, 2010)
And that’s Fallout: New Vegas in a nutshell, and Fallout 3 for that matter except for a different plotline. There is no escaping the fact that Fallout: New Vegas is more or less Fallout 3. The map might be bigger, the side quests more expansive, but if you’ve played Fallout 3, you’re not going to find anything dramatically new here. Good thing? I think so. Great thing? Probably not.
3D Juegos (Oct 19, 2010)
Gameplanet (Oct 21, 2010)
Vegas represents a solid addition to Fallout canon. Those accustomed to investing hours examining endless story arcs, or searching vast environments for details will certainly appreciate Obsidian's efforts, even if newcomers may struggle to see what all the fuss is about.
GameSpot (Oct 21, 2010)
Fallout: New Vegas is an expansive and complicated RPG that encourages you to see and do as much as you can. This is an explorer's game, always lavishing new and interesting quests on you and giving you a lot of flexibility in how you approach many of them. It builds upon Fallout 3's mechanics in interesting and esoteric ways, making it a comfortable evolution to one of 2008's best games. A few glitches and performance issues occasionally let it down, yet Fallout: New Vegas is periodically awesome and often compelling. If you crave an expansive and flexible adventure in which your choices actually matter, this is one gamble that will pay off.
85 (Oct 20, 2010)
PC Games (Germany) (Oct 22, 2010)
PC Gamer (Oct 19, 2010)
There are things to see, sure, but the rewards aren’t nearly as interesting in New Vegas. I didn’t get as much out of heading for intriguing things on the horizon as I did in the previous game. With some new technology and the ambition to create a full world as compelling as the previous game’s, it could have been wonderful.
RPG Site (Nov 16, 2010)
After how successful Fallout 3 was, more of the same gameplay is something that was expected and is actually pretty welcome. It's a shame that right now there are so many bugs and technical problems breaking the game on all three formats, as that's enough to prevent it from being a better game than its predecessor in my eyes. If you love games with a great story or loved Fallout 3 and can look past the bugs, New Vegas is a must-play. If not? Wait for a few more patches to drop.
Cheat Code Central (Oct 21, 2010)
Fallout 3 is one of the best games of this generation, and fans should be thrilled to see a new story told in a similar fashion. We’re looking forward to spending more time in New Vegas, and checking out the DLC when it comes out.
Worth Playing (Nov 02, 2010)
Looking past its mutated scars is the only way to enjoy Fallout: New Vegas, both for expatriates from the wastes of the District of Columbia and veteran Desert Rangers who have followed the series since the PC days. If you can soldier past what makes it feel as battered as its namesake and push aside its past baggage, potential survivors might find that New Vegas' odds are worth betting on.
D+PAD Magazine (Nov 10, 2010)
Obsidian had an admirable chance to re-define the Fallout experience but have really failed to enrapture our passions for the series. More of the same? Yes. But ultimately unlikely to be remembered as fondly as the third in the Fallout cannon.
Cheat Happens (Oct 26, 2010)
If Fallout: New Vegas were an expansion pack or DLC, it'd be instantly worth the money, but asking gamers to put down $60 for a title that adds almost nothing new, yet is chock full of technical issues is a bit much. Still, those who love the Fallout games are sure to find much to love in the Mojave Wasteland. Fallout: New Vegas isn't the masterpiece many thought it would be, but fans are sure to enjoy one more romp with their Pip-Boy.
80 (Oct 23, 2010)
Un must have.
Thunderbolt Games (Dec 05, 2010)
Fallout: New Vegas is a testament to the fact that the small details are what can really matter in a game. For seasoned Fallout fans, New Vegas will represent a huge step in the right direction. Obsidian’s writers have crafted a game world which is arguably far superior to Bethesda’s; however, for players who aren’t looking for a more authentic Fallout game - or simply don’t care - this game is basically just more of the same. It’s Fallout 3 with a wild west coat of paint to go along with its twisted 1950s aesthetic. That will mean more to some than it will to others, but either way, it’s a great adventure.
gameplay (Denmark) (Dec, 2010)
If you liked Fallout 3, you’ll like New Vegas. You won’t like it as much as Fallout 3. It doesn’t have a whole lot more to offer, and most of what it does have is aesthetics. Story, setting and sound can please some of the people some of the time, but if you’re looking for game play improvements, you’re not going to find much beyond some bells and whistles.
ActionTrip (Dec 02, 2010)
Obsidian has, once again, released a game that hits most of the marks for a good RPG, but is marred by an uninspiring main quest line and peppered with some annoying bugs.
70 (Oct 25, 2010)
Armchair Empire, The (Dec 17, 2010)
This game got released too early. Had it been released around the holidays, and with the collection of bugs and broken quests eliminated, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as a great gift for gamers. As it is, I can only say that it's beautiful but tragically flawed.
GameZone (Oct 19, 2010)
Looking purely at the new features of Fallout: New Vegas, I want to entrench myself in the Mojave wasteland and never return. Obsidian Entertainment has bolstered the series with an array of fantastic additions, including crafting and Hardcore mode, but it’s hard to appreciate them in light of incessant bugs and unfulfilling quests. Fallout: New Vegas was a valiant effort, but it’s back to the vaults for me.
40 (Dec 10, 2010)
Old and ugly, not enough variety in quests or combat, might have scraped another point if it wasn’t so half-finished and glitchy. Only plus is that it’s a good interactive story, but then so is a pop-up book and that won’t set you back 40 quid. Buy this if you’re a devout fan of the series and you’ll be getting a fine addon. (Oct 11, 2014)
Rock, Paper, Shotgun (Oct 21, 2010)
New Vegas’ saving grace is really just the framework it fails to employ particularly well. While I won’t be returning to New Vegas after this review, I did have a fair amount of fun doing all the old Fallouty things- exploring the wasteland, looting bodies, solving problems with my skills instead of violence and, when I didn’t have the skills, blowing apart head after tender head with my favourite shotgun. It’s just that this is absolutely not the classic that Fallout 1 and 2 unquestionably were, and it’s also not the bold, bright reinvention that Fallout 3 was. It’s just… here, offering more Fallout. Do you want some more Fallout? If so, New Vegas can provide, so long as you don’t mind your every hour with it being laced with some small amount of disappointment. That is, unless you haven’t played a Fallout game before, but in that case you’re better off with the Game of the Year edition of Fallout 3.
