For a game that could easily be labeled ‘budgetware’ at $19.99, Garfield has outstanding graphics. Everything from the red-eyed rats skittering around the courtyard to the bright yellow cat himself is detailed and cinematic.
Sadly, some of the game’s features may be a bit too difficult for some youngsters. In an attempt to make the game seem longer than it really is, developer Asobo Studios has created many levels that would make even the most hardcore Garfield fan call it quits. But if you’ve got the skills to take on this plucky pussy, this tail of two kitties is as tasty as the aforementioned Italian pasta.
Despite the repetitiveness and other issues I think the game is probably well suited for its younger target audience. If you’re planning on purchasing this game, though, I would highly recommend either using a gamepad or simply buying the console version instead. This game was made for the consoles and would be better played on one.
This is a mostly entertaining platform game that combines a mix of simple platforming with a few mini-games, collecting and in-game challenges. The result is somewhat enjoyable, but parts of the game can be annoying. Garfield is cute, though. Despite the age range given as 7-up, the best age is probably 10-up, unless you have a pinball wizard, as in the song, in the house.
