You are a member of the Blit Rescue and Tracking Squad (BRATS). Your unit's mission is to rescue Blit whenever he gets captured, which is basically his job. Blit skateboards, crashes, and ends up in a cage. In order to free Blit, you must find a number of keys scattered across different countries in a region. To obtain the keys, the game tests your geographical knowledge.
GeoRunner prompts you to select a region of the world (North & Central America, South America, Africa, etc.) and to configure a skill level. The skill level determines a number of settings:
The difficulty of the clues. Early levels simply tell the player to visit a certain country. Later levels challenge the player on capitals or even trivia related to the country.
Whether the player flies in a propeller plane or a jet. Both have limited fuel capacities. If the fuel runs out in a propeller plane before the specified key is found, the fuel is automatically refilled and the game gives you a directional hint about the location of the key. If the fuel runs out in a jet, the player loses all keys gathered up to that point in the round.
Whether the countries on the map are labeled or not.
Whether the player must collect 4 or 8 keys in order to free Blit.
