Game Over Online (Jul 30, 2002)
Speaking of Carrington, Hyperspace Delivery Boy continues to remind me a lot of Futurama. Unfortunately, like the television show, Hyperspace Delivery Boy is an abbreviated outing. It doesn't take long to complete and repeated play will likely be only to unlock the many secrets embedded within the plot. However, I liked the characters, the dialogue and the sly way it takes a look at the sci-fi future. It has a running supply of gags and references aimed at veteran (mostly PC) gamers but its humor, I think, will appeal to open-minded newcomers as well. A few names in the credits of this game could spawn their own multi-million dollar games. For sure, it isn't Monkeystone's magnum opus on the PC. But that doesn't change the fact that Hyperspace Delivery Boy is cheerful, sarcastic and energetic fun.
Adrenaline Vault, The (AVault) (Sep 05, 2002)
Monkeystone has fashioned a rare gem: A product that’s appealing and accessible to both casual and more active gamers. I like HDB‘s old school graphics and naive central character, and its quests are a pleasure to solve. Plus, you can play it with one hand on the mouse and the other holding a drink or changing a baby’s diaper. (Hey, it’s that addictive!) That Hall’s game is appropriate for all family members will blindside some players, but it’s obvious that he trusts his material. Sure, HDB is corny at times, but that’s part of its charm. Small flaws crop up, but Hall and Romero have so much fun that we’re reminded how good things can happen when creative people are free to do their thing. Hyperspace Delivery Boy! is a small treasure.
PC Zone Benelux (Aug, 2002)
GameSpot (Jun 24, 2002)
What's most impressive about Hyperspace Delivery Boy is just how fun it is. It's clear that the designers made this game because they wanted to, and the fun they had making it comes across when you play. The game is inexpensive and short, and you'll easily play through it in a couple of sittings. Hyperspace Delivery Boy won't appeal to everyone, but anyone who has a soft spot for classic games will doubtlessly enjoy it. And if you like it the first time, you'll definitely want to play through it again to catch everything you missed the first time.
PC Gamer (Nov, 2002)
While HDB!’s a fun diversion with a few challenging puzzles, the action grows repetitive after a short while, giving you little incentive to finish the game. Veteran PC gamers may find some nostalgic solace here, but take it for what it is — an inexpensive and silly throwback.
