GameSpy (Nov 16, 2001)
Jekyll & Hyde does create a moody and interesting game out of the book's characters, and there's some very cool stuff here. The puzzle and adventure elements are solid, though the combat is definitely lackluster. The visuals strike a bizarre chord, even if the 3D engine isn't top notch, and over all, fans of the horror and action/adventure games will find this trip into the madness of Doctor Jekyll worth taking.

GameZone (Oct 31, 2001)
Some puzzles in this game required Mr. Hyde, while others needed to be solved with Jekyll. Jekyll is weak, and fights like a girl. Hyde is mean, strong, and can jump farther then his light side. This could have made for a very interesting, very suspenseful, and engrossing title if more time was taken with storytelling and gameplay. Too bad. The combat system is rather awkward, and the AI is lacking. Character models could’ve been done better, and the level design just doesn’t make any sense. Don’t even get me started on the save game options. I’m not even sure why they were included. You can save at the beginning of a level or at the midway point. This happens regardless of where or when you choose to save. For a moment I thought I had consolitis. It really is a shame that a good soundtrack, and hauntingly memorable environments weren’t put to better use.
PC Games (Germany) (Jun 20, 2001)
Game Over Online (Nov 07, 2001)
Overall, Jekyll & Hyde is a good game to avoid, even at the budget prices DreamCatcher charges for its releases. The problems are just too numerous and severe, and the core gameplay just isn’t good enough for me to recommend the game to anybody -- except for those interested in being severely aggravated and perhaps turned into their own version of Hyde, like I was when I kept making four jumps correctly and missing the fifth, and having to repeat the whole process over and over again.
PC Action (Jul 05, 2001)

GameSpot (Oct 25, 2001)
Chances are you won't restart, though. Jekyll & Hyde is so bad that the few good elements seem like nice little surprises. The voice acting isn't terrible, for instance. You might appreciate that. Otherwise, you'll just find yourself frustrated and annoyed, forgetting its promising premise, its one interesting mechanic, and its creative design while you frantically try to get the camera to move so you can grab the ledge or hit the zombie with your cane.
IGN (Feb 15, 2002)
Jekyll & Hyde might have been a great action/adventure title several years ago, but today it is far behind the curve. Poor graphics, horrible animation and the lack of any challenge far outweigh whatever story this game might have. Playing it through once is rough enough, so I can’t imagine anyone ever giving it a second go. Perhaps if it had a great ending, it would shine a little brighter, but as many other games of this genre seem to ignore the dramatic ending lately, this one is no exception. There really is no reason to buy this game, unless a person really loves games that are at least four years behind its time.
If you love third-person action/adventures, there's a chance, however small, that you may like Jekyll and Hyde (if you can get over the fact that neither Dr. Jekyll nor Mr. Hyde are women and Dr. Jekyll at least does not have unusually large breasts). In a time where Tomb Raider clones are uber-trendy, Jekyll and Hyde has the scent of originality. But it also has the stench of tediousness. And that's a smell I just can't stomach.
As if the idea of licensing a literature classic weren’t wonky enough, latching said classic onto this mediocre (at best) platform game was an even worse idea.
