Last Half of Darkness: Society of the Serpent Moon is an absorbing, thrilling, and enjoyable game to play. I highly recommend this game to any horror adventure game fan. Just a word of caution—under no circumstances do you want to find yourself misplacing the game manual, since it is needed to solve some of the puzzles later in the game (perhaps as a security measure to prevent piracy). In sum, the game delivers a solid adventure and is a great addition to the Last Half of Darkness series
I did enjoy Society of the Serpent Moon, but I do think the strengths of the franchise are better suited to a first person perspective. If you haven’t played any of the previous games, then perhaps start with this one and then try the others. If you have played and are a fan, you will still find lots to like.
Although the story isn’t particularly deep and the characters seem a little strange, I did find myself enjoying this mystery adventure story. It has an overall atmosphere which is enhanced by the occasional cut-scene, that left me feeling entertained and eager to continue. Society of the Serpent Moon may not have anything to make it stand out from the multitude of other point and click adventures out there, but for casual gamers who feed on this type of game, there is plenty here to enjoy. Pick it up if you played the previous Last Half of Darkness game, or if you have time in your schedule for another point and click adventure.
With a dark tone, tense atmosphere and suitably creepy ambiance, Society Of The Serpent Moon is a thoroughly enjoyable point and click horror adventure. While not particularly a stand-out amongst its peers, it nevertheless manages to hold its own with an arsenal of polished graphics, cinematic cut-scenes and immersive sound. For newcomers it makes a nice addition to the game shelf, and fans of the series won't want to miss this latest chapter of The Last Half Of Darkness.
After about ten hours of play time, Society of the Serpent Moon comes to a very satisfying end. The story isn't related to the other Last Half of Darkness games in any way, so you don't need to have played any of those installments to understand this one, which is available exclusively from the developer's website. Those who have will feel right at home with the style of art and the dark mood of the new game, even if it takes a while to get fully immersed in the third-person perspective. And for those considering a first taste of the series, Society of the Serpent Moon is well worth getting started due to its enjoyably creepy atmosphere throughout.
Ansonsten muss man Society of the Serpent Moon nun wirklich nicht gespielt haben.
