Kortom, het wordt een d'rop of d'ronder verhaal voor Mistmare, waarbij de meter neigt uit te slaan naar d'rop. Een miskoop zal het in ieder geval niet zijn, tenzij je alleen van racespellen houdt natuurlijk!

Unfortunately, I had to do a lot of wading through the official forums to find fixes and tips that made the game playable. Mistmare has some truly wondrous landscapes and jaw-dropping monsters and such, thanks in no small part to the LithTech engine, but it just came out of the oven too early. If this game ran as well out of the box as it does after the unofficial fixes, it’d get a high score for its story and graphics. But since its publisher folded as this issue went to press, we may never see that level of quality in one handy patch.

In a world of games that are constantly borrowing each others ideas, ripping each other off, and trying to cash in on the success of popular trends, it can often be no small task to try and develop a game that stands out from the rest. In this respect, Mistmare isn't so bad - I honestly can't say that it was thrown together to make a quick buck. Unfortunately, I can say that the controls and interface feel largely unfinished, and this reflects the game's quality as a whole.

Au final, on ne peut pas vraiment dire que Mistmare soit une déception puisqu'on ne l'attendait plus vraiment. Sous des apparats bien rédhibitoires se trouve peut-être un système de jeu qui plaira probablement aux dingues de RPG. Encore faut-il qu'ils digèrent cette réalisation décidément bien vilaine et cette maniabilité approximative.

If you're actually looking for a game that plays well, with decent graphics and controls that are easy to learn and use, then put that box back down on the shelf and keep looking. Perhaps if the developers had taken more time to work on the game it'd be better, but as it is the game falls far short of what the box would lead you to expect is inside.
Mistmare: In Tenebris Erroris is a bad game. Unless you are the most die-hard PC RPG fan or simply a masochist, you won't be having much fun with this one.

Mistmare is more punishment than game. No matter what the box says, this isn't so much a fantasy role-playing game as it is a medieval torture device right up there with the rack and the iron maiden. Slovenian developer Sinister Systems has gotten almost nothing right here, shipping an unfinished product that contains hundreds of bugs, abysmal play mechanics, and Byzantine dialogue littered with typographical errors.
Let me put this as nicely as I possibly can: Strategy First could have put a rotting dead rat in a shoebox and charged $20, and it would still have been a better value than Mistmare. Seriously. To even call this product a “computer game“ is to stretch the bounds of what that term means: It barely runs on a computer, and if there‘s a game here, well, good luck finding it, because I never did. Probably because I was too busy rebooting my machine every five minutes. And, yeah, that was after the patch.
