Mortal Kombat 4

Probably the worst Mortal Kombat fighting game

The Good
What can i tell? The game didn't have that much to like. The character roster is average at best (15 playable characters, 18 on the home versions, Midway returned some cool characters like Scorpion, Sub-zero and Raiden, Reptile, Sonya etc., but most old characters had a very boring and stupid look. The games new additions like weapons and throwable items were a nice try to compete with Soul Calibur, but they weren't any effective. Such stuff like team battles and player tournaments were a great addition in MK3 and its updates, but here, with these bad graphics and boring looking characters it looked very annoying.

The Bad
First off - the graphics. Back in the time, we were used to FPS games like Quake 2, or other fighting games like Soul Calibur or Tekken (which i personally don't like more than MK, don't get me wrong). These games showed what graphics of a game should look like, but MK4's graphics looked so crap that it made Mortal Kombat fans blush when they were standing next to Tekken or SC fans, it was really bad. The sound effects weren't fun as well. The announcers voice was boring, and the screaming of characters and their voice acting was horrible. Weapons added to characters and throwable items on arenas looked so useless and stupid, made me think of what was Midway thinking... Some old characters like Reptile and Sonya had horrible costumes, while almost ever new character looked like a piece of *.

*The Bottom Line

MK4 is a very bad fighting game of its time, with bad graphics, sound and not so fun gameplay. But still, it might be funny to hear after that, but this is still a Mortal Kombat game, and for some even the best 3D MK, though i wouldn't recommend this 1 for my friends.
