Adventurespiele (Jan 23, 2006)

I'd recommend this game to almost any adventure gamer who enjoys first person adventure games, as long as their computer is up to the task. The cut scenes were frequent enough to keep the plot moving along, so it's possible that even those who don't like "solitary" games won't feel so alone in this one. However there are no conversation-based puzzles or complex inventory puzzles. So if these are your favorites, you'll be missing them. I enjoyed the puzzles and roaming around the gameworld, and the story was interesting enough to keep me playing late into the night. It was also refreshing to play an adventure game that relied entirely on mental challenges instead of injecting physical ones. It was a great game to relax with in the evening and I hope to see a Mysterious Journey 3 some time in the not too distant future.

A solid game with fantastic logic puzzles, stunning graphics, complex environment, well-thought-out storyline -- but with a difficult installation and some minimal game linearity.

Mysterious Journey II was a very enjoyable game for me. Most people may find the game too hard, but an adventure game should be challenging. The backgrounds are beautiful. One downside was that it would have been nice if you could have been able to walk around a little more. All I have to say is casual adventure gamers beware.

Stratos Group (Jan 04, 2004)
OK, so it isn't quite another Syberia or The Longest Journey, but The Mysterious Journey II can certainly hold its own, and is quite good, especially when compared with some of the horribly rush-jobs that crop up in the adventure genre all-too-often.

Just Adventure (Feb 11, 2004)
However, even with the occasional chug if you can get the full water and scenery effects it can be an awesome looking title - even getting pretty close to the best recent FPS games have to offer. If you want the best 3D graphics the Adventure genre can offer, then this is your game. It's definitely not for the casual gamer, but if you have an appreciation of difficult puzzles and want some meat to their bones in terms of story, then this is your game. Just remember to retain a firm grip on the way up... by the time you get to the top, it's a view worth seeing.

In sum, Schizm II: Chameleon is not a game for novice adventure game fans. It is a game I can unreservedly recommend to gamers who love a challenge and who master the use of logic in problem solving. The plot of the story is familiar but still interesting. The graphics are pleasing. This is a game in which any gamer who can finish it will definitely derive a feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment. Any gamer with lesser skills, however, may meet a frustrating end.

Quandary (Dec, 2003)
For anyone who has played Schizm (Mysterious Journey: Schizm); let me say up front that this is not as difficult. That is not to say that it is a mental walk in the park, and it certainly isn't easy. But for a variety of reasons it is easier than its predecessor, which should make it more accessible to more players.

PC Zone Benelux (Mar, 2004)

Game Chronicles (Feb 01, 2004)
Mysterious Journey II: Chameleon is a lot like a mediocre sci-fi novel. It has a great atmosphere, some fascinating and innovative tech stuff but flat characters and a mundane storyline that ultimately kill its potential. But for twenty bucks you could do a lot worse. It sounds like a back-handed compliment and maybe it is. The bottom line is that if you enjoy solving puzzles then you won’t ever be completely disappointed with MJ2. You might’ve hoped for more, but that’s not to say you won’t have any fun.

GamersHell.com (Jan 06, 2004)
This game is definitely meant for hardcore adventure players, and anyone who has good experience solving puzzles. It offers both an attractive if not overly compelling storyline, great-looking graphics and good (although as I've stated above, very hard) puzzle elements. If you are determined to break your mind for countless hours over puzzles, it is definitely the game for you.

Rejoice, fellow masochists, for salvation is near! After a long wait, you are about to be treated to one of the most sadistic games out there. No more frustrating action sequences or interface, no more badly designed games. Mysterious Journey II is none of that. Instead, it will treat you to the finest brain torture you could ever wish for. While very well designed, with great graphics and good sound, it is evident that this title has been purposefully created to give you hell.

Adventure Corner (Apr 07, 2004)

Mysterious Journey II is a solid adventure game that is sure to please fans of the genre.

IGN (Dec 18, 2003)
To be honest, I had very low expectations when I was asked to review this title. I played Schizm and was less than impressed. It scored a fabulous 3 out of 10 from me. I cited the impossibly difficult puzzles and a lame story as my reasons for slamming the game so hard. The developers did a great job improving the story in Mysterious Journey II, but I was still left as frustrated with the puzzles as I was in the original. While a beautiful, deep and interesting world awaits on this Journey, I would still not recommend this title unless you play adventure games for the stories they tell and no other reason.

Just Adventure (Jan 05, 2004)
In conclusion, Mysterious Journey II is one big graphical and phonetic experience. If you like to solve logic-based puzzles and didn’t play hooky during your math lessons then this game really is a must. But be aware; besides your own calculation skills, this game requires quite some capacity from your computer and video card as well.

Ob mir Schizm 2 gefällt? Finden Sie es selbst heraus: 5 hoch 4, Ergebnis mal 33, dann 485 dazu. Gerade Zahl bedeutet "Ja", ungerade "Nein".

GameSpot (Dec 17, 2003)
If you simply want to match wits with a game for the sake of it, you may find some pleasure in the vicious challenges of Mysterious Journey II. And for all the puzzles' frustrations, you have to admit that their complexity at least took some real thought on the part of the designers. If, though, you like your adventure game puzzles to make common sense, offer reasonable challenges, and be cleverly integrated into the story and gameworld, you'll likely hate this game. Either way, there's no actual sense of adventure here, and isn't that what an adventure game is supposed to offer?

The game is surprisingly short given that it consumes almost 3GB of disk space. The environments, while beautiful. are disappointingly void of interaction. and the story, while interesting, is wholly irrelevant to the gameplay. Mysterious Journey II is a good puzzle game that also reminds us why puzzle games aren’t that popular.

Adventure Gamers (Jan 14, 2004)
This game clocked in for me at about 25-30 hours, which is a decent amount of playing time for the price of this game. However, in all fairness a great deal of that time was directly related to figuring out some of the game’s more difficult and illogical puzzles. The graphics are some of the best I have seen recently and Detalion has used 3D to great effect in the games environments and characters. The voice acting was above par, a nice touch, but the biggest surprise for me was the well-executed soundtrack. Sadly, the largely static emotion of the narrative and the inconsequential nature of the puzzles don’t flesh out the story to great effect, turning this game into just an average game, rather than a great one.

Game Shark (Jan 08, 2004)
Who is the audience for this game? Most rabid adventure game fans don't have rigs beefy enough to play Mysterious Journey 2, which uses the same graphics engine as No One Lives Forever 2. Twitch-based gamers who do have the latest and greatest graphics cards won't have the patience for the punishing puzzles, and those who play games for story will find themselves rolling their eyes until they fall out of their sockets at the clich?s and the horrible dialog. Playing this game feels like divine punishment for every minor wrong-doing you've ever committed. Unless you feel like atonement through bad video games avoid Mysterious Journey 2.
