Description
Rocko's Quest (known as
Grouch in Europe) is a Spanish-made 3D action platformer, in which the player controls the titular Rocko - a big barbarian whose girlfriend was kidnapped by monsters. Rocko doesn't hesitate - through swamps, mountains, caves, and dark castles, he will do everything it takes to rescue her, slaying evil creatures on his path.
Rocko starts with a simple sword (he is also quite adept at fighting with bare fists), but he will be able to acquire additional weapons by disarming his opponents and wielding whatever they were using against him - which mostly includes melee weapons, but also a few ranged ones, such as a bow. Healing items and power-ups that increase Rocko's attack power are sometimes dropped by enemies as well.
Platforming occupies a large portion of the gameplay. Rocko can run, jump, climb, and swing, to help him get past various obstacles. These include moving platforms and assorted environmental hazards (hot geyzers, spikes, pits, etc.).
