GameOn (Apr 18, 2010)
It does feel like the game could have used a little extra play testing however as I stated before, I can overlook the issues as this is their first game on the PC and I'm sure we can give indie developers more slack than their mainstream counterparts as we all have to start somewhere. Even with the current issues the game is still a damn fine purchase at the cheap price point of £12.99/$19.99/€14.99 and definitely one for the Steam collection, especially when you bug your friends to do the same for co-op shenanigans.

With a relatively unknown publisher, virtually no PR, I am very satisfied with this game. It harkens Gears of War feelings, but adds a little bit of spunk making it four players. And while the single player is definitely lacking due to the poor AI. The game makes up for these short comings in the multi-player mode. Personally I cannot wait till the next chapters come out, I will be looking forward to killing some more Alpha Team that is if they dare challenge me.

Moim zdaniem mamy do czynienia z całkiem strawnym produktem, który powinien zostać dostrzeżony i doceniony. Do premiery pozostał jeszcze przynajmniej tydzień (najwcześniej będzie to dziewiąty kwietnia), więc twórcy mają jeszcze czas na ostatnie szlify, ja zaś liczę na przyjemnie spędzony czas w trybie kooperacji ze znajomymi.

Out Of Eight (Jul 26, 2010)
Despite the fact that The Scourge Project (Episodes 1 & 2) is quite derivative, it’s not terrible. Yeah, the weapons are too easy to use due to a lack of recoil and the level design is very linear, but in cooperative mode the shooter is certainly competent. The use of cover is a must, which makes it all the more curious that a lot of the combat rooms don’t offer enough of it. Still, the special abilities make the action slightly more mixed and your AI teammates aren’t totally useless, engaging the enemy from behind cover and reviving others when appropriate. This makes using the terrible (due to the lack of a cursor to aid in placement) order system pointless. The enemy AI does need some more work, though, as it likes to slowly move towards you out in the open if not scripted to stay behind cover. The Scourge Project (Episodes 1 & 2) is meant for cooperative online play, and in this setting the game is most enjoyable.

Neoseeker (Apr 18, 2010)
In short, Tragnarion probably should've more or less cut the story on this one, axed single player, and focused Scourge into a co-op only arcade-style shooter. It's already halfway there, and with some polish (there are some rather annoying bugs which can hinder progress), refinement, and community cultivation (it's sadly lacking at the moment, though alive enough to keep you going), the potential is there for it to nab a Recommended award. As it stands, we can only recommend it conditionally.

GamingEvolution (May 12, 2010)
The game is not a terrible start to a new IP, but on the whole, the experience of The Scourge Project feels like just that- a project. It lacks the “complete” feeling most gamers expect and it seems more like a prototype/beta to a game that has yet to arrive. Perhaps future patches or Episode(s) 3-4 may address some of these concerns and evolve this franchise into a fine shooter for this generation.

Look, I'm going to come right out and say it - don't buy The Scourge Project. Don't even consider it. Epic Games just released the Gears of War triple pack, which features three (different) games that are all miles ahead of this clumsy disaster.
