I don't know who will add the credits, but they are said to be over an hour long, listing every single Kickstarter backer as well ...

Send in partial credits in correct order and continue when feasible.

The backers are definitely not relevant to what MG may be used for, seeing who worked on what and with whom and all, anyway.

Listing the backers sounds like a very creepy practice even. Did they say so up-front about being in the credits on their kickstarter?

You can use a nickname on Kickstarter.

I agree that in a case like this, backers shouldn't be included in the credits listing.

Most games have Special Thanks credit sections, which we never omit. How is that different from backers? In fact, special thanks may just contain a greeting to a developer's dog, while the backers actually made the game happen. Just because the list is long and may have nicknames (as if there are never nicknames in credits) doesn't mean they should be omitted.

How is that the same as just listing "people that gave us money"?

Isn't money at least as important for making a game actually happen as vague inspiration by such "developers" as Napoleon or "family cat Zazzles, without whom this game wouldn't have been made" or whoever might be mentioned in "Special Thanks"?

Never said the thanks count as having worked on a game either. Was actually just thinking of that when I posted. Maybe we should have non-production credits or smth for those categories, entirely separate (but... yeah).

Give credit when credit is due. There are no exemptions.

Picking and choosing who we deem worthy to get added to the credits will set a bad precedent. Everyone involved in the creation of the game should be added, no matter their role.

Exactly. If a developer/publisher decides someone is important enough to credit, who are we to argue the converse?

Amen to all of this. The name is in the list, the name goes in our page.

And we never know who might have chosen a particular pledge level specifically to get a developer profile on MG! =)

One of my life goals is to contribute to the production of a film, so that I get an IMDb entry before one of my namesakes does, and I will be relegated to being a (II) for all eternity. I'm particularly worried about one chap who is a music producer, which is uncomfortably close to the world of movie production.

You still owe me three shrink sessions for that biography. :p

Yes, normally I always watch the whole credit roll after finishing a game, but I just couldn't take it.

I asked HareBrained Schemes if they can provide a text file with the credits. Maybe we are in luck.

And they were kind enough to provide it to me. Thank you, Harebrained Schemes, you are great! If Gamefly did not choose to destroy the website, I would be already busy.
