Smugglers 3

Smugglers 3 is the sequel to Smugglers 2. The long war between the Federation and the Outer Rim continues, with neither side able to gain the upper hand. Amidst the turmoil new factions emerge: the Trader Coalition represents the merchants hurt by the war, whereas the Syndicate is a gathering of pirates and smugglers who seek to profiteer from the fighting. You can pick any of the four sides, lead them to greatness and amass as much wealth and fame as you can before your eventual retirement.

The gameplay is similar to the sequel, but features improved graphics, more star systems and planets, new ship designs, more ship modules and ship parts to modify, new unique locations (like derelict ghost ships or hidden spy stations), a technology rating for planets which determines which ships or modules are available, a distance factor in ship-to-ship combat which determines the effectiveness of your weapons and jamming systems and a reputation system that shows how much you are trusted by your faction.
