Stellaris è un titolo immenso capace di catturare nei suoi buchi neri per ore e ore. In questo senso è davvero totalizzante, al punto che giocandoci ci sono venute in mente le lunghe sessioni di gioco con i Civilization o con altri strategici dello stesso calibro. Non è un prodotto per tutti e non vuole nemmeno esserlo, dedicato com'è agli appassionati di strategici 4x più radicali, nonostante la funzionalità e la chiarezza dell'interfaccia. Insomma, dopo serie di prim'ordine come quella Hearts of Iron ed Europa Universalis, Paradox ha sfornato un nuovo capolavoro che gli appassionati non possono lasciarsi sfuggire per nessun motivo.
Stellaris is simply wonderful. If you enjoy grand strategy games then you’ll love this. If you don’t then this could be the one to change your mind. If you’ve been too intimidated to try the genre before now, then here’s your ideal starting point.

This is a game for anyone who has already enjoyed the grand strategy genre or anyone who has always wanted to. There is a strong sense of accomplishment from starting an empire and guiding it along the path you choose, even if it eventually ends in failure. Stellaris is easy to comprehend and exciting to execute, which is a perfect combination for a genre notoriously difficult to break into.

Unreasonable expectation of perfection aside, Stellaris is an expertly blended mosaic of 4X, grand strategy and self-created narrative. For the relatively small niche that this game occupies, it is the undisputed master and commander. It’s also a nice platform for DLC and modding so as if the game didn’t provide enough substance out of box, then I’m sure there’s going to be plenty of content for years of come to constantly rejuvenate the experience. If you’re the type of person who dreams of galactic empire, write a nicely worded letter to the people in your life saying “see you later” and pick up Stellaris.

Calling Stellaris Europa Universalis in space is probably reductive, but it was the first thing I did in this review not because they are almost exactly alike, but because, when I put away my empires and get on with my day, the stories that have played out in these digital worlds embed themselves in my brain, and I so desperately want to tell people about them. Both games tickle the part of my brain that wants every battle to have some greater context, every move I make to be part of a larger narrative. Stellaris manages to do this without history to lean on, though, and does so with aplomb.

Si tratta di un'operazione a cui i fan di lungo corso si dedicheranno ben volentieri, contenti di accogliere una nuova IP costruita ad arte, e con un'attenzione meticolosa per tutti gli aspetti principali (persino quelli artistici). E' un peccato che il team di sviluppo non abbia voluto considerare una gestione più attiva dei combattimenti fra flotte di astronavi, e che i ritmi delle partite non siano sempre sostenuti: rotti a volta da una proceduralità che sembra remare contro il giocatore, o da una fase di gestione diplomatica un po' meno rapida rispetto alle altre opzioni. Ma si tratta di elementi davvero marginali: mescolare le atmosfere di un 4X con le dinamiche di un Grand Strategy non era un'impresa facile, e Paradox ci è riuscita nel migliore dei modi. Stellaris è un titolo pieno di dettagli, di curiosità, dinamico, bello da vedere e soprattutto bello da vivere in tutte le sue sfaccettature.

It's good that, in a game about space, I've never felt limited, because there shouldn't be limits. While this almost feels like "Sim Universe" at times, the core difference is in something for which to strive and active threats beyond your own mishandling of resources and the occasional fire to put out. There's a whole universe out there, and I can't wait to play through Stellaris as many times as it takes to experience the whole thing. Me to everyone who passed this up: "suckers."

El título, apadrinado por el irreprochable sello de Paradox, es un videojuego exquisitamente diseñado y mimado hasta el último detalle. Sí, tiene aspectos a mejorar -que a buen seguro lo harán en un futuro cercano, teniendo en cuenta el soporte de contenido que suelen dedicar a sus juegos-, pero el núcleo de la experiencia es incuestionable. Stellaris es un videojuego pensado para los más acérrimos, exquisitos y verdaderos aficionados a la estrategia. No siempre se puede encontrar un juego en el que seamos nuestros propios dioses y en el que, a través de las infinitas estrellas, no luchemos en vano.

Из всех игр студии Paradox Interactive – Stellaris учит лучше всего. Концепции игры подаются равномерно и плавно. Они не сваливаются в одну общую кучу. Главное читать всплывающие подсказки разного рода. Эту игру можно называть парадоксальной стратегией, потому что тут действительно всё именно так. Шведская команда старается не просто залатать старые дыры, но и ещё отремонтировать их. В Stellaris были справлены многие ошибки прошлых игр: слишком глупый ИИ, отсутствие угнетающего микроменеджмента и подобного очень много. Однако самое главное отличие этой космической стратегии от остальных заключается в том, что ты действительно получаешь возможность управлять огромной империей. На игроке лежит большая ответственность. Появляются проблемы, которые присущи большим империям и их приходится решать. Реализм, который достоин похвалы.

A blisteringly fun early game can be dampened somewhat by the bloated middle and late stages, but Stellaris is another example of Paradox Interactive showcasing that they are the kings of grand strategy, and is a game that every fan of the genre should have in their collection.

So how to go with recommending it? Were this a creation of any other developer or publisher, I'd have my concerns. But the truth is, once they get it all sorted, it's going to be a heck of a game. From the modular ship constructor system and the impressive (if automatic) fleet battles, to the ethical tensions between interstellar neighbours reminiscent of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, to the endless moddability that'll allow, no doubt, classic sci-fi reskins (the likes of Dune spring to mind), I can't wait for Stellaris to be the game it is so obviously going to be. For now, though, it's still struggling with escape velocity on its mission to the stars.

Stellaris es un juego redondo, con algunos bordes que terminan en pico, pero redondo en su definición. Se trata de uno de los mejores juegos de estrategia a gran escala que podemos encontrar hoy día en el mercado. Es un título enorme, y nos permitirá estar enganchados a la gestión de nuestra propia civilización durante multitud de horas. Es además un juego que se siente vivo hasta niveles insospechables, ya son muchos los jugadores que necesitan imperiosamente correr a contar las situaciones que han vivido, porque realmente se creen que están dirigiendo su propio imperio, esto en el sentido de que ocurren cosas que puedes creerte, es decir, todo lo que sucede tiene un significado y un impacto en el Imperio, y esto es de agradecer, pues hace sentir al juego mucho más vivo.

Z drugiej strony Stellaris to także gra, która ma kilka braków, a wśród nich najbardziej boli pasywność SI oraz fakt, że w środkowej fazie gry zdarza się, iż nie mamy zbyt wiele do roboty. Co prawda pierwszy mankament eliminuje do pewnego stopnia sprawnie zorganizowany multiplayer, ale przecież nie o to chodzi. Wiem jednak, że niedostatki gry zostaną uzupełnione – znając politykę Paradoksu, spodziewać możemy się masy płatnych rozszerzeń, a do tego dojdą też rozbudowane modyfikacje fanowskie. Zastanawiałem się więc nad oceną 8/10, ostatecznie jednak przeważył fakt, że Stellaris, nawet z opisanymi niedoróbkami, to po prostu szalenie przyjemna i fajna gra. A po wyeliminowaniu niedoskonałości i rozszerzeniu tytułu o więcej treści dostaniemy kosmiczną strategię przez duże S. Wtedy spokojnie będziecie mogli dorzucić do oceny jeszcze jeden punkt.

Paradoxove igre pri izlasku su obično neispolirani dragulji koji vremenom i kroz mnoge iteracije konačno zasijaju svojim punim sjajem. Njihova publika je navikla na to i armija fanova je tu da pomogne. Stellaris je jedan takav dragulj, ali bi se moglo reći da je prilično ispoliran u poređenju sa svojom sabraćom. Igra je izuzetno zabavna, zarazna i ujedno opuštajuća. U njoj su svi najbolji elementi prethodnih Paradoxovih igara, kao i potpuna sloboda omogućena izmišljenim settingom, te sa sigurnošću verujemo da će ubuduće postajati samo bolja i bolja. A tu je i legija modera koju Paradox svesrdno podržava, koji će se pobrinuti da igra ima puno opcija u predstojećim godinama igranja. Tako da obucite skafander, stavite šlem i otisnite se među zvezde – galaksija čeka.

Though Stellaris has its blemishes and can bog down in the middle, it’s an intergalactic success more often than not. It looks and sounds superb, and provides an infinity varied experience through its random elements. With the promise of an already active modding community in tow, Stellaris is a safe bet for intrepid adventurers looking to jump into hyperspace.

Stellaris’ early game is full of exploration and promise, and the small nuggets of fiction I picked up after discovering an abandoned research station or dissecting the corpse of a space giant helped draw me into the fantasy that I was truly exploring the unknown. Unfortunately, the game eventually settles into a grind as you either try to convince neighboring aliens to become your vassals or slowly build up an army to forcefully take over their worlds. The rewarding moments are still there, but they’re spaced out significantly. Taking over the galaxy turns out to be a lot of work, but it’s a worthwhile mission for would-be explorers.

The developers have promised to keep updating Stellaris, as they have done with their other games. Issues with a slightly muddy middle game are on the to-do list, as is an improved diplomacy system. Right now, Stellaris is a very good space-based strategy game, but a few months down the road, it could evolve into a fantastic one.

Das Besondere ist der Blick von hoch oben: nicht auf einzelne Planeten, sondern auf gesamte Imperien. Während der Ausbau zahlreicher Kolonien weitgehend automatisiert verläuft, stehen politische Zusammenhänge, Verträge und Verhandlungen im Vordergrund – und diese Dimension erfasst Stellaris ausgesprochen gut. Hinter dem Errichten von Botschaften, dem Ausrufen von Rivalen und dem Aufbau von Allianzen ist zwar allzu offensichtlich die Tabellenkalkulation erkennbar, weil abseits kleiner Portraits weder kurze Filme noch ein Blick ins Gesicht der Konkurrenten die vielen Texte auflockern. Das Aushandeln wirtschaftlicher oder diplomatischer Vorteile erschöpft sich zudem im Zurechtschieben benötigter Ressourcen, die Steuerung enthält kleine Stolpersteine und die Optionen zum individuellen Anpassen einer neuen Partie sind erschreckend überschaubar.

Für mich ist das 4X-Spiel trotz seiner Schwächen einer der - wenn nicht der- Titel des Jahres. Denn Stellaris geht neue Wege und ist allein deswegen jeden Cent wert. Wenn ein Spiel Mut beweist und mir eine frische Spielerfahrung liefert, dann verzeihe ich ihm gerne jene Fehler, die die Konkurrenz gar nicht erst machen kann, weil sie sich stets auf Bekanntem und Bewährtem ausruht. Und ganz abgesehen davon hat Stellaris so unglaublich viel Potenzial. Ich kann mir jetzt schon ein Dutzend sinnvoller Erweiterungen vorstellen, die aus Stellaris das vielleicht beste Weltraum-Strategiespiel überhaupt machen könnten. Und weil Paradox Interactive in der Vergangenheit gezeigt hat, wie man Spiele nachhaltig verbessert, kann ich mit dem Brustton der Überzeugung sagen: Das wird!
All the galactic flavour and themes of a 4X space title, married to the mechanics of Paradox's recent grand strategy offerings. Stellaris has a space opera tale of gene manipulation, Federation politics, or colonial slavery for everyone.

Marrying Paradox’s particular brand of real time grand strategy to the familiarity of space and 4X empire building has worked wonders, making this the most welcoming and accessible of their games that I’ve played. There’s a few minor niggles, but it’s compelling and it’s easy to lose yourself in Stellaris for hours at a time, as you build your empire and explore both the galaxy and the stories that it can contain.

Stellaris captures the wonder of exploring space and colonizing the stars, but gets bogged down when the borders freeze and negotiations start. A solid foundation of things to come and an excellent entry-level grand strategy game, this will hopefully be a good start for a greater experience to come.
Stellaris is not a perfect game and there are aspects that Paradox could (and, judging by their track record, probably will) improve, including an unexciting range of technologies, a potentially plodding mid-game and timid enemy AI. But the fact that they have managed to present such a complex premise in so accessible a form is an achievement in and of itself. Stellaris was going to draw in the genre buffs with its intricacies, that was practically a given; Paradox’s masterstroke was enabling it to get its hooks into the rest of us.
Stellaris è effettivamente grande come l’universo, tanto che si rischia di perdersi tra le tante informazioni disponibili e l’enorme libertà concessa al giocatore. Il titolo Paradox riesce a emozionare, divertire e far arrabbiare il giocatore in maniera meravigliosa, grazie a uno stile narrativo legato alle scelte compiute durante i vari eventi in cui incappiamo durante la conquista della galassia. Oltre ai pregi non mancano anche i difetti, sia legati a una IA che stupisce in positivo ma anche in negativo, sia a situazioni stagnanti, legate a un sistema bellico non proprio funzionale. Stellaris è una stella appena nata, e non può che crescere e migliorare sia per opera di Paradox stessa, sia per merito degli utenti tramite Steam Workshop.

Stellaris est donc incontestablement un très bon 4X et un jeu passionnant. Malgré ses quelques faiblesses (IA un peu bête et diplomatie légère), du début à la fin d'une partie on ne cesse d'être impressionné par le savoir faire du studio Paradox Interactive dans le domaine du jeu de stratégie à grande échelle. De la musique à la direction artistique, en passant par les 4 notions du 4X (exploration, expansion, exploitation et extermination), tout est là pour vous donner cette sensation d'immensité spatiale et de conflits galactiques. Quelle claque !

To Stellaris προς το παρόν, είναι ένας πολύτιμος μετεωρίτης που έπεσε στη Γη, γεμάτος σκόνες και ατέλειες, που θα χρειαστεί χρόνο για να γυαλιστεί και αναδειχθεί. Όταν αυτό συμβεί όμως θα μπει στην προθήκη των κλασικών. Δεν είναι άσχημο, εξάλλου με έχει απορροφήσει ολοκληρωτικά από την κυκλοφορία του, αλλά σε κάποιους μήνες από τώρα θα μιλάμε για ένα πραγματικά άριστο και κλασικό 4Χ παιχνίδι που δεν πρέπει να χάσει κανένας λάτρης του είδους και της επιστημονικής φαντασίας. Στην παρούσα φάση η Paradox χρειάζεται χρόνο για να παραδώσει αυτό που θα έπρεπε εξ αρχής να είχε δώσει.

In the end, then Stellaris is a tremendous return to form from Paradox. The title manages to mix complex strategy mechanics with a more lenient attitude towards newcomers to great success, granting a level of flexibility of play rarely seen in the genre. Not for me, though. I sunk more than 24 hours of gameplay into my first week with Stellaris. An entire day! With more than 500 hours clocked on CKII, I’m clearly susceptible to this sort of thing – but the fact is, Paradox have done it again. Stellaris is already a deep, compelling and hugely atmospheric game of strategy on a galactic scale. It’ll only get better as time goes on – and I’m thrilled to see where it’ll go next.

Svědčí o tom i fakt, že není potřeba rozebírat soubojové a diplomatické nuance, protože v těchto ohledech se Stellaris příliš neliší od svých 4X vesmírných kolegyň. Vůbec vám nebude zatěžko ignorovat beztak rychle opravované technické nedostatky a pár frustrujících rozhodnutí při designu uživatelského rozhraní. Stellaris se totiž daří zachytit něco, co je podle mého názoru esencí každého pořádného vesmírného dobrodružství: napětí, překvapení a současně strach i radost z neznámého.

Stellaris n’est pas le meilleur des jeux sorti de l’usine Paradox. Bien que jouissif et immersif – la bande son aidant bien – il manque à ce 4X une profondeur à laquelle un Crusader Kings 2 nous avait habitué. En revanche, grâce à une ergonomie claire et intuitive, un tutoriel qui nous accompagne en douceur dans nos premiers pas et à toute une multitude de mécaniques bien pensées, Stellaris reste une valeur sûre qui devrait vous occuper de longues heures en solo et potentiellement, de très longues heures en multijoueur si tant est que vous parveniez à réunir quelques joueurs car ce mode est le plus intéressant sur le long terme. Bien entendu, nous attendons Paradox Interactive au tournant car si quelques mises à jour gratuites viendront équilibrer Stellaris, il faudra certainement compter sur les habituels DLC qui enrichiront une expérience déjà passionnante en l’état mais qui pourraient dresser les fondations d’un jeu d’autant plus magistral encore.

In vielerlei Hinsicht gelingt Paradox hier aus dem Stand heraus der Sprung an die Genre-Spitze in Sachen 4X-Weltraumstrategie. Wenn, ja wenn da nicht die furchtbaren technischen Mängel wären. (...) Zu viele Nachbar-Imperien aufgedeckt, zu viele Raumschiffe gleichzeitig auf dem Bildschirm - zack, die Framerate sackt in den Keller und das Spiel zwangspausiert teils sekundenlang, was in meinen Augen noch weitaus schlimmer ist als die häufigen Performance-Einbrüche. (...) Im derzeitigen Zustand wird der Spielspaß leider viel zu oft von der Technik sabotiert, als dass ich Stellaris bedenkenlos empfehlen könnte. Hier muss Paradox schnellstens mit Patches nachbessern. Ich wünsche mir von Herzen, dass Stellaris schon bald auch bei mittleren bis großen Galaxien anstandslos läuft. Denn dann könnte ich endlich, endlich Master of Orion 2 als mein persönliches 4X-Highlight in den Ruhestand schicken.

But what I'm most hoping for are official, bolt-on replacements for systems like diplomacy and ship building, which just aren’t quite as polished as I’d like to see at release. Paradox has proven that it is willing to work on long timelines, and has a history of supporting its games years after launch with substantive upgrades. I expect that, three years from now, Stellaris will be a much improved experience. As far as Paradox has come from its roots in historical gaming, it needs to go just a little bit further to make this futuristic departure truly great.

Stellaris builds a foundation that will hopefully yield something wonderful within the next few years of patches and expansions. For now, this is a good game that I recommend for both the newcomer and the hardened veteran that probably already has this game.

Stellaris is strange in that it wants you to play on its terms, but within that you have amazing latitude. Its emphasis on exploration is exhilarating. It makes each run feel inviting and special. But that doesn't always hold. Some games run through to the end and hit all the right notes at all the right times. Others are best left running in the background as you crunch for better technology so you can break free of your narrow corner in the galaxy. This could be helped if you could sneak, or stealth ships through enemy territory to colonize far-flung worlds. Or, if you could have finer control of research. Or, if you could overwhelm enemy fleets with superior tactics, despite a massive technological disadvantage. Instead, you're at Stellaris' mercy. It is fortunate then, that more often than not Stellaris doesn't just work, it excels, but that makes its breaking points feel that much more agonizing because it wouldn't have taken much tweaking to smooth them out.

Stellaris wnosi dużo świeżości do gatunku strategii kosmicznych, jednak po obiecującej początkowej rozgrywce, zmienia się w dość żmudną zabawę. Na pewnym etapie czujemy, że ciekawiej będzie zacząć przygodę od nowa, więc coś chyba poszło nie tak.

The Left Hand of Darkness tries to portray alienness in a way very different from Stellaris: it does not rely upon shorthand, but upon the portrayal of the alien qua their own alienness and hence familiarity. Like Mass Effect, Dune, Foundation, and countless other sci-fi universes, it builds its extraterrestrial world from the ground up. Stellaris only borrows from all of their palettes to paint its own picture of the night sky—and a game about aliens feels all the less foreign as a result.

Скучные линейные противостояния с пассивным ИИ — с одной стороны, отличная платформа для мультиплеера с глубокой вовлеченностью — с другой. Вероятно, армию поклонников Paradox наберет из числа своих почитателей с бесконечным запасом времени, уже оценивших другие ее глобальные стратегии. Любителям же по-настоящему напряженных вселенских противостояний с компьютером лучше нацелиться на Endless Space 2. Судя по дневникам разработчиков, там тоже разбег на рубль: будут уникальные расы (чего стоила Harmony!), возможность определять тактику во время боя и генератор вселенных со множеством параметров. Надо лишь подождать.

Stellaris is filled with good ideas, and it’s not difficult to see the outline of a great space strategy game where those ideas could come together. But beyond the early game, it’s only compelling in bits and pieces – it turns into a largely uneventful slog after that. Paradox has developed a reputation of major upgrades to their games for years after launch, and Stellaris is going to need all that love and more to reach its potential.

Natürlich ist und bleibt Stellaris dennoch ein einzigartiges Spiel, das vieles besser löst als jeder andere mir bekannte 4X-Weltraumtitel, ich würde es jederzeit empfehlen. Gerade die ersten Spieldurchgänge sind irre faszinierend. Doch danach schwindet die Motivation, neue Partien anzufangen, weil es an typischen Problemen des Genres krankt. Wenn ich nun den Fortschritt seit Update 2.0 mit dem vergleiche, was sich zwischem den ursprünglichen Release und Patch 2.0 getan hat, dann drängt sich mir der Eindruck auf, dass sich Paradox tiefgreifende Änderungen nicht mehr zutraut. Es kommen zwar weiterhin neue Inhalte und die Spielerbasis ist stabil. Aber die Ambition, noch mehr daraus zu machen, scheint verschwunden.
