A beautiful and realistic experience from the ground up, The Hunter isn't just a game for enthusiasts of the genre, much less fans of the sport. It's a title that embraces the love that developer Avalanche Studios feels for the game, and passes it on to its subscribers with grace, class, and unmatched authenticity.
Gamer Limit (May 06, 2009)
Ultimately, The Hunter is a masterful fusion of picturesque scenery, elegant sound, well balanced game play and long lasting appeal rolled into one of the most believable experiences the PC has to offer.

This is the type of game that you’ll either take to like a duck to water, or avoid like a kitten to water. Your enjoyment will vary more on your predisposition than the game itself.

While the glacial pace is sure to put off some gamers, The Hunter is a serviceable simulation with some interesting online features that’s worth checking out. And if hunting is really your thing? You’re going to love this stuff.
The Hunter is perfect at what is does. This is the most realistic and impressive hunting game to date, but the slow-paced nature makes The Hunter difficult to recommend to a general audience. Limited free-to-play elements are another deterrent in an otherwise solid game.
