Like its two predecessors, Muzzled! is an exemplary offering. Only diehard puzzle fanatics like me would even think to pooh-pooh it. Despite my personal, ever deepening gloom about the overall direction of adventure gaming of late, Muzzled! is well worth buying and playing. In fact, I’m going to give it a slightly higher grade than Bees and Resort, an A minus. Among his many sterling qualities, Gromit doesn’t bark out unwanted hints every few minutes – unlike a certain other well-known resident of 62 West Wallaby Street I could mention.

But with a strong story (a hallmark of all three episodes) a refreshing setting change to the carnival grounds, and a starring role for Gromit, a few stumbles (especially at the end of the game) aren’t enough to trip up Muzzled! as the best of the three episodes yet. And in a funny twist ending as the credits are rolling that leaves a doozy of a cliffhanger for the finale episode, the bashful and sometimes bumbling Brit Wallace somehow finds himself in a pickle of a mistaken romantic predicament with Felicity. All to be resolved in the series finale, The Bogey Man.

I found the laugh out loud moments in Muzzled that in the earlier episodes, but the game-play satisfaction is still here. Plus, I guess, to make up for the lack of cheese, Telltale Games have introduced chickens, perhaps as a nod to Aardman’s feature move production Chicken Run. And let’s face it, on the comedic scale; Chickens are not much further down the list from Monkeys, Pirates and Ninja’s. So that is good.

Letztes Mal hat es sich schon abgezeichnet, dieses Mal rettet ein charismatischer Fiesling namens Muzzle die Serie gerade noch vor der gepflegten Langeweile. Die Episode hat eigentlich alles, was ein Telltale-Abenteuer ausmacht: Eine schräge Story, liebenswerte Charaktere und ein überzeugend umgesetztes Szenario. Sogar die Schwächen sind wieder dieselben, da die Rätsel immer noch kaum der Rede wert sind und man wieder fast nur Bekanntes sieht. Immerhin sorgt die Kirmes für ein paar neue Schauplätze. Dennoch würde der dritte Teil fast in der Routine erstarren, hätten die Macher nicht einen Widersacher ersonnen, der Schwung in die britische Bude bringt: Monty Muzzle ist so, wie man sich fahrendes Volk früher vorstellte. Er gibt vor, Gutes zu tun, spielt jedoch ein doppeltes Spiel und wickelt trotzdem alle im Dorf um den Finger.
Telltale Games once again has a hit on their hands. I plan to buy the compilation disc with all four episodes as soon as I can afford it. Muzzled! and The Bogey Man are easy to install, easy to configure, easy to play, have a great sense of humor all the way through, and have stories that are kid-friendly. They are a worthwhile addition to anyone’s collection, regardless of age group.

While this review build did seem to have the occasional audio-related bug, there wasn’t anything in the game that disrupted most of the overall experience. Players will sometimes speak without their mouths moving correctly, and certain audio effects – such as Monty’s altered voice when using a microphone – appear to need tweaking. Even so, this problem can be easily overcome by enabling subtitles. As a complete product, Muzzled stands very nicely among its predecessors. It is by far the most entertaining, thought-provoking, and possibly the longest game in the series. Fans of the show are in for an especially grand adventure.

I won’t go quite so far as to call it an adventure gamer’s best friend, but Muzzled! is certainly a worthwhile companion in the series.

Cet épisode est donc moins chargé en dialogue que l'était le précédent, et le niveau d'énigmes a été sensiblement augmenté pour cet épisode. Deux ou trois fois, je me suis cru bloqué dans le jeu jusqu'à ce qu'un déclic s'opère et c'est là qu'on se sent tout bête car la réponse est évidente. Je tiens d'ailleurs à remercier TellTale de m'avoir aidé à battre le poulet dans le diabolique jeu du morpion. On regrettera seulement d'avoir à résoudre deux fois une série d'énigmes identiques dans deux chapitres différents. Pour le reste, le jeu est bien rythmé, les acteurs jouent à la perfection (Paneer est mémorable en commententateur du concours d'engloutissement de tartes, Gromit est toujours aussi expressif,...), et l'épisode connaît son lot de rebondissements. Muzzled est aussi le premier épisode qui se termine avec un sacré cliffhanger... et on se demande comment Wallace sortira de cette situation dans The Bogey Man, le dernier épisode de la série à paraître le mois prochain.

Kortom, dit begint er al meer op te lijken, al is het jammer dat Telltale pas in de voorlaatste episode de Wallace & Gromit charme weet aan te boren.

Wie immer greift Telltale Games die Stimmung der Filme gut auf. Dennoch hat mir die vorhergehende Episode The Last Resort besser gefallen. Die Geschichte von The Muzzle wirkt für mich etwas aufgesetzt, die eine oder andere Wendung hätte hier gut getan. Dazu bereitet die Kameraführung gerade zum Finale hin einige Probleme. Wallace & Gromit-Fans können aber ein weiteres Mal getrost zugreifen. Ich freu mich jedenfalls schon auf die vierte Episode.
Much of the game's action in this episode has been moved to a new locale -- the carnival. This is a welcome change, as both the Wallace's house and the town centre have already been fully explored in previous episodes. Unfortunately, aside from this addition, the episode does not break any new grounds for the series.
