Practice, practice, practice. Did I mention practice? I thought that many other simulations I'd played in the past were difficult. This one makes them all look about as hard as finding sand at the beach. For those of you that may have flown actual planes and have experienced dogfighting, you probably won't find it as difficult. WarBirds will appeal to anyone who likes flight simulators and/or dogfight simulations, and can really humble those of you who think you're the best. It is very important; however, that you make sure you have decent video drivers and that the game is set up to use them; otherwise the game will not be playable for very long. Once beyond these problems, expect hours of addiction, frustration and excitement reliving one of the great wars of the past.

WarBirds promotes a huge virtual pilot community, which stretches into all professions and people. There are over a hundred "squadrons" or groups of pilots that team up whenever they can online, conventions are held every year in Texas, and Interactive Magic Online's technical support is some of the best in the industry. The boxed version includes everything needed on a CD-ROM as well as a 72-page manual, a reference card, and $30 of free online time. When you're flying against hundreds of human opponents, it's the best kind of action there is. Try it out and see if you agree.

Warbirds has been around a couple of years but the latest update brings ten new aircraft into the fold, new terrains and graphical features. Tap into the persistent online world and you’ll be rewarded with a mature multiplayer experience with dozens of gamers, some who will hound you out of the sky and others that a beginner will be able to compete with on an equal footing. So if you feel you’re missing the bite from your flight sims, your career with Warbirds could really take off.

Would I recommend Warbirds? The answer is: Yes, Absolutely! Warbirds is a blast to play. Nothing compares to flying against actual unpredictable human opponents in real time with some of the most accurate flight models available. The cost is $1.75 per hour on the Cris network. The first five hours are free! Good job, ICI!
