Out Of Eight (Oct 01, 2007)
World in Conflict is the definitive action-packed tactical game. The title is designed with the sole purpose of providing players with as much enjoyment from start to finish with no boring moments or lulls in activity. The single player campaign is well designed, the reinforcement model eliminates tedious base building, and the classes allow for customization and a variety of roles to influence the battle. Each class, from air to infantry, has their role, and you can be successful in each one after you learn the strengths and weaknesses. The controls are very straightforward and the user interface is superbly designed for easy of use. The amount of action found in World in Conflict is unparallel in the strategy genre, but that doesn’t mean planning and tactics are thrown out of the window: coordination will win the day.
But World in Conflict is different, and very special. It has the story, it has the characters, the cast, the talent, and the beauty. It has the tightly tuned mechanics, outstanding missions, and unique additions to the gameplay model. It is, in a word, the kind of game almost anyone would want to play—particularly those who don’t normally like the RTS format. In fact, the only people I know who didn’t like World in Conflict are the really annoying strategy buffs, the ones who are unable or unwilling to accept any kind of realignment in their precious, hexagonal universe. Everyone else, even if RTS is a style of play that has never interested you, I say you’re doing yourself a disservice to ignore this one. It is a masterpiece, a towering achievement that has already found a home among my Most Beloved games.
GameSpy (Sep 20, 2007)
World in Conflict is a triumph for Massive Entertainment. The developers have managed to take a quirky "action game" take on the real-time strategy genre and wrap it in an instantly appealing, accessible and highly polished package. Everything from the game's beautiful graphics to the great story and especially the adrenaline-fueled mayhem of online multiplayer matches make this a must-have for the strategy game set and a serious purchase consideration even for those who never thought of themselves as strategy gamers. Pozdravlyayu i Uspekhov, Massive. Your game is yzumitelno!

All in all, World In Conflict offers an awesome amount of bang for your Buck (or Quid if you’re like myself, or perhaps you’ll be spending Euros or Australian Dollars), features plenty of Kablammo! Kicks an awful lot of ass, shows the strategy genre a slightly alternative route and offers hours of intense, cringe inducing (in a good way – only because you’re imagining that poor sod you just nerve gassed) entertainment, suitable for fans of all branches of strategy, and is a fantastic ambassador for bringing in those who wish to start playing strategy games!
YouGamers (Sep 28, 2007)
Overall: World in Conflict is a solid game that might very well be the Counter-Strike of RTS games: long after the novelty of its innovative gameplay is worn off, and its beautiful graphics long since dated, it's played and respected as a pioneer.
GameSpot (Sep 18, 2007)
Developer Massive Entertainment has been making real-time strategy games for almost a decade now, but World in Conflict is undoubtedly the studio's masterwork. Everything about this game is top-notch, from the addicting gameplay to the amazing visuals. More importantly, World in Conflict offers up a refreshingly new approach to strategy gaming. So if you're a strategy fan, you should definitely try World in Conflict. And even if you're turned off by standard real-time strategy games, you owe it to yourself to try out what Massive has come up with in this exquisite package.
Gamer 2.0 (Sep 25, 2007)
Ultimately, where World in Conflict succeeds is in every aspect that truly matters in the final judgment of a game’s quality. It’s a fun, addictive, fast paced, and fresh take on a very stale genre. This is not only one of the PC’s best this year, it’s one of the best games in the genre, period; and we’re talking in the infinite sense. This will go down as an all-time classic among the likes of StarCraft, Total Annihilation, WarCraft, and Age of Empires. It’s simply an amazing game that shouldn’t be missed.
IGN Australia (Sep 07, 2007)
WIC excels in so many areas, it’s hard to fault. It’s one of the most attractive games we’ve ever seen, has a truly interesting storyline, offers plenty of variety considering it could have so easily been a one-trick pony, and redefines the expected feature-set of an online RTS. It smashes down the barriers that prevent many folks from enjoying strategy games, while at the same time offering the depth that the genre is renowned for. Whether you’re a strategy fan or not, you’d be silly not to take a look at WIC. Without doubt, one of the finest, freshest RTS games we’ve played in years.
Gaming Shogun (Oct 18, 2007)
This RTS taking place during a fictional World War III is an excellent playthrough with only minor irritations in the story to detract from its gorgeous visuals.
IC-Games (Sep 19, 2007)
Before you groan and think ‘just another real time strategy’, we urge you to throw away what you already know. World in Conflict has everything in place to redefine what gamers perceive about the well worn genre. In World of Conflict there are no bases to build, installations to research, resources to gather or mine. The micromanagement that plagued titles like Earth 2160 are nonexistent and the graphics, whilst they may need a powerful PC to run at their best, are quite simply spectacular.
IGN (Sep 07, 2007)
It’s not very often that a real-time strategy title comes along and changes the way you think about the genre. World in Conflict is one of those, not because all of the ideas are totally new, but because they’re all put together in such a successful way. This game is unlike most real-time war-games for its tactical nature and reliance on teamwork. Because of this, the multiplayer is one of the best experiences on the market. While the single player plays second fiddle to the multiplayer (at least in my mind), it also provides explosive and well-conceived missions that build up the ideas of team-play through the various objectives given and an exceptionally well-presented story. When all is said and done, 2007 is going to be an amazing year for strategy titles and World in Conflict will be there among the best of them.
92 (Dec 10, 2007)
The conclusion is short and simple: buy this game. Finish the great single player mode as soon as possible and enter the online battlefields, where you'll truly find out how challenging this game is and how much practise you'll need to become really good. You get off on graphics, single player experiences, online battles, ...? World in Conflict has it all!
PC Zone (Sep 13, 2007)
It's a stunning achievement and one that puts it firmly at the head of RTS titles for the year. Can the forthcoming COH: Opposing Fronts topple it? That remains to be seen, but one thing's for sure. World In Conflict isn't going down without a fight. It's got nukes. And isn't afraid to use them.
Gamigo (Oct 04, 2007)
Atomic Gamer (Sep 28, 2007)
World in Conflict is one of the more enjoyable strategy games in recent memory. The multiplayer is fast and furious, and seems that it will lend itself well to casual gamers and hardcore, clan-based competitive types. And for those that only get PC games for the single player experience, the one here is still pretty damn fun, though it is just going to tempt you to take the game online anyways to see just what it has to offer. If you have played any of Massive's past RTSes, are a fan of the genre, or just want something new to play, give World in Conflict a shot. And hey, if you buy the collectors edition, you get a pretty rockin box and a piece of the Berlin Wall. I'm not kidding.

Playing WiC it is sometimes hard to tell that the game was developer primarily as a multiplayer game. Sure enough the online modes and mechanics are amongst the best, and you’ll probably experience some of the best moments of gaming here. It is the singleplayer that really shines though. The very action paced campaign will give you almost no time to breathe, and even the few moments of respite you’ll get will probably be spent being angry, sad and happy with the on-screen characters. And it will be during these moments that you’ll realize that WiC is more than just a strategy game. After all, when was the last time you wanted to smack somebody up when playing Warcraft?
ActionTrip (Sep 26, 2007)
World in Conflict deserves the attention of all gamers regardless of what their preferred genres are. There's enough action and content to guarantee hours of continuous fun, which stands for both single-player and multiplayer modes. The range of units and a vast number of air support that can be called in, makes for some exciting and well-balanced multiplayer battles. Also, it's easy to coordinate attacks with players via the built-in VOIP chat system. Even if you cannot enjoy this aspect of the game, playing without a headset is entertaining enough. Battles can last for hours, with a potential of reaching a climactic full-on nuclear blast (you can read more about the multiplayer aspect of the game in our aforementioned hands-on impressions). So, the game comes highly recommended, in spite of a few technical glitches, which aren't going to get in the way of a great RTS experience.
Games TM (Sep, 2007)
(...) World Of Conflict is one of the few titles that will appeal to many gamers that aren't typically real-time strategy fans. So while die-hard tacticians can skip past the cut-scenes and delve straight into the challenging scenarios, others can enjoy the plot, marvel at the mid-battle theatrics and applaud the brilliant set pieces as they fight through World Of Conflict's epic and unmissable campaign.
Games TM (Oct, 2007)
[Online review] There are several great things about this system, not least the speed of the matches and the fact that players will only taste victory if they work together. This means that the usual restrictions - such as time and individual ability - are no longer a stumbling block for those players that usually wouldn't venture online. It also means that each bout is exciting from air-dropped beginning to nuke-deploying end. Quite simple, World In Conflict is a multiplayer triumph that any owner with an internet connection would be a fool not to try.

World in Conflict est-il l’opposé total de Supreme Commander.
Good Game (Oct 09, 2007)
If you’ve played Company Of Heroes right through, you’ll know this one level where you have to hold 3 bridges, and then everything goes nuts and you have to pull out. WIC is like this all the way through. It’s hectic and fun I’ll give it a 9 as well. It’s good to see something that claims to be a different type of RTS, and actually is.
TTGamer (Oct 19, 2007)
There is really very little reason why any PC gamer shouldn't give World in Conflict a go because it is just so accessible and appealing. You don't have to be an RTS nut to enjoy this game, but on the other hand you don't not have to be one either. The single player campaign mode is a little bit of a disappointment and probably won't offer much more than a 'once and done' experience, but thankfully the game's awesome multiplayer, which has got to be the most well balanced and enjoyable multiplayer I've experienced in an RTS for a long time, comes to the rescue and really sets this game apart. This is a must have title for PC fans who want plenty of action and minimal fuss, and the likelihood many game design decisions were shaped by the fact a 360 release is also pending doesn't detract from the appeal at all. Titles like World in Conflict are really making PC gaming look great right now.
Tack Massive
UOL Jogos (Oct 04, 2007)

Maximum PC (Jan 30, 2008)
Taking the fight online yields another fresh RTS experience. Players team up to take on armor, air, support, and infantry roles, each with special units that uniquely contribute to an overall match. We dug using helicopters to rain down guided missiles of justice, but found the support role not as useful as the other offensive classes. Online niggles aside, World in Conflict is one of the most accessible and action-packed strategy games we’ve ever played.
PC Games (Germany) (Sep 17, 2007)
AceGamez (Sep, 2007)
Perhaps the only real problem with World in Conflict is that it isn't a game that does anything particularly new, or at least nothing groundbreaking. The action might be more adrenaline-inducing and the pace ramped up to such a degree that half hour battles fly by in what seem like ten minutes, but at the end of it all it's still a strategy game that follows the usual formula of its entire ilk and not too dissimilar in style to its ancient cousin, Ground Control. But that's just fine, because World in Conflict isn't about revolutionising the genre - what it does do is reinvigorate it. Combining its fast paced almost action game style single player campaign with a multiplayer component that does actually manage to be sufficiently different from the norm, what you have isn't just a damn good strategy game, but one of the best strategy games of the year.
Pro-G (Sep 21, 2007)
So the sheer fun of the multiplayer warrants an extra review point. The game is a must buy for RTS fans. Experts will tear through the campaign quickly enough, but it's just the starter, whetting the palette for the main course, a hugely engaging multiplayer extravaganza. World In Conflict is brilliant RTS fun for experts and newcomers alike.
GamesRadar (Sep 18, 2007)
Not happy with the finest and most inventive RTS multiplayer experience around, Massive have also added 14 levels of cinematic, action-packed mayhem, complete with a slightly silly premise made believable through some well-drawn characters and intimate cut-scenes, and wrapped the whole lot in the lushest and most drool-worthy RTS engine we've ever seen. It's a stunning achievement and one that puts it firmly at the head of RTS titles for the year.
Gameslave UK (Sep 28, 2007)
World in Conflict is a beautiful and well made strategy title that strays from the norm and for the most part pulls it off, it has a compelling story line that's conveyed well by some great voice acting and music choices. There are tonnes of multiplayer options and maps to keep you and your friends going for a while. Finally, it's easy to play but hard to master and that's the sign of a good game in my book. As to whether it's the best RTS game ever? Probably not, but it is deserving of some of any strategy gaming fan's cash.
GameDaily (Sep 17, 2007)
At times, World in Conflict gets so crazy that we need to take long breaks in between game sessions. However, the blend of fast paced strategy, excellent graphics and compelling cut-scenes always keeps us coming back for more.
games xtreme (Sep 18, 2007)
It's a good solid game with a fairly simple control system. The tactical options in the battles make it one for those people who like to play extended campaigns against the enemy as well as outthink and outgun their opponent. One not to miss.
Trusted Reviews (Sep 26, 2007)
Action packed, adrenalised and undeniably spectacular, World in Conflict is the first RTS to give Company of Heroes a run for its money, and the current front-runner for RTS game of the year.
TotalVideoGames (TVG) (Sep 23, 2007)
It's the immediacy of World in Conflict that drives it beyond anything else in the genre. The constantly fast pace, the race to accumulate Tactical Aid points, the relentless explosions and surges make for one of the most exhilarating experiences you'll have from a strategy title. On so many counts Massive Entertainment have delivered on the "easy to learn, difficult to master" mantra, a strategy game that can be enjoyed by anybody.
Bit-Tech (Sep 19, 2007)
I love World in Conflict, love it to bits, but something about it makes me hold back from giving it the golden seal of praise which is 10/10. To use Tim’s words, “if we marked out of 20, I’d give it 19/20” – a statement which belies the fact that although World in Conflict comes close to RTS perfection, it still falls short by the smallest of slithers. It’s an awesome game and you should definitely go out and buy it right now, but the sad fact is that here at bit-tech we mark out of 10, so we have to give it...
Gameplay (Benelux) (Sep 27, 2007)
Mogen we zeggen: eindelijk! Go and get it! Als je durft!
90 (Sep 21, 2007)
World in Conflict is een uitstekende RTS.
90 (UK) (Sep 18, 2007)
So don't come to World in Conflict looking for a game that reinvents its genre. Come to it because it's an instantly appealing refinement of smart ideas, served up with gorgeous production values and back-to-basics strategic muscle. It's intelligently structured, so you can lose yourself for hours or indulge in a quick twenty minute skirmish, while the multiplayer mode is an absolute monster if you're willing to submit to its co-operative style. The ability to unleash monitor-rattling nuclear destruction at will is what will inevitably garner the most attention, but thankfully World in Conflict has the steak to go with the sizzle. Combining bite-sized accessibility and formidable depth in a genre as established as real-time strategy is no mean feat, but Massive has pulled it off. An absolute beast of a game.
GameStar (Germany) (Aug 29, 2007)

88 (Nov 07, 2007)
Kaiken kaikkiaan World in Conflict on genrensä ehdotonta eliittiä.
Gaming Target (Jul 01, 2008)
World in Conflict's single-player campaign has plenty of polish, but it won't tax most players' tactical abilities or attention spans: its fourteen missions can be completed in well under an hour each. And its simple hit point system for all vehicles pales in comparison to complex ballistic and armor modeling setups in other recent strategy games. On the other hand, its multiplayer system offers fast-paced strategic action balanced for rich team play. Get the game, find a good server (or group of friends) and have at it. Use the single-player campaign as an extended tutorial for on-line play.
Absolute Games ( (Sep 28, 2007)
World in Conflict — не Command & Conquer 3, которую стоит пройти ради видеороликов и внутренней энциклопедии.
GamesFire (Oct 08, 2007)
World in Conflict überzeugt in Sachen Grafik und schnellem Gameplay.
Computer Bild Spiele (Oct 03, 2007)
AusGamers (Sep 24, 2007)
All in all, World in Conflict is a worthy purchase for any real-time strategy fan or any team-based shooter regular that wants to try something different. The singleplayer, while well fleshed out, is ultimately forgettable, but the work invested in the multiplayer platform provides the potential for countless hours of real gaming entertainment here anyway. It's certain to please most visual-quality nuts and those nukes look spectacular no matter how you configure your graphic settings.
World in Conflict is opnieuw een mijlpaal.
Good Game (Oct 09, 2007)
It’s an innovative game, and certainly provides a new take on the RTS genre. The ability to jump in and get your quick fix of gaming without having to commit to a match that may last hours works. 8.5/10 from me.
PC Powerplay (Aug 29, 2007)

Netjak (Nov 19, 2007)
Let us get this straight; multiplayer will never excuse a short single player experience, no matter how exciting those short hours are. It is especially insulting when the game is just so well balanced, so well designed and so fun to play. This attitude cost this review a full point on our 10 point scale. The game is still good, but being what it is kept it from greatness. All I can do is hope the modding community fills in the story because I really wanted to finish this war and punish those dirty Soviets for invading the US in the first place, not end it with the Russians and Chinese running away from Seattle as the USSR still peddles around in Europe. Still, World in Conflict should offer up an example of a different breed of RTS that other companies should take note of and try in their own, unique ways. The concept and execution was plenty good to warrant copy-cats.

1UP (Sep 20, 2007)
In spite of its problems, World in Conflict undoubtedly has that ineffable "it" that makes an enjoyable game. In a market glutted with RTS games that are little more than reskins of each other, Massive deserves credit for trying something genuinely new. Sure, it's risky to rock the boat, but that's what capitalism's all about -- you don't see North Korea coming up with new RTS ideas, do you?
Yahoo! Games (Sep 18, 2007)
World in Conflict is a gorgeous game that can be as rewarding as it is demanding. If you're playing it alone, you're not going to get a lot out of it beyond pretty graphics. But with other players, and especially with other players who understand a) how it works and b) that they have to work together, this is a unique and gratifying real time strategy game you won't want to miss.

World in Conflict est un bon jeu.

Overall, World in Conflict is not bad, but if you've been keeping up to with other RTS titles, it will not come across as much other than a well-written single-player experience. But for folks who have not jumped on Company of Heroes – and if you haven't, what's wrong with you? - World in Conflict is a perfectly viable game. It's not bad – it's just not particularly good, either. At the end of the day, World in Conflict would have made a better movie.
