With all of the new additions that don’t take anything away from the already great core game, and the inclusion of previous features that worked well, Worms Clan Wars is the best PC version of Worms available at the moment. An essential buy for Worms fans.

While it doesn't stray too far from Worms Revolution, a game less than a year old, the focus on competitive multiplayer and custom content adds both longevity and depth to the long-running pastime of wormicide. If Revolution was the best that Worms had ever been -- and it was, because I said it was last year -- then Clan Wars is now the definitive version.

Clan Wars might not offer a terribly different experience to Worms fans, but it does have some great additions that are wholly welcomed — even if they aren’t without their issues. Fans of the series who aren’t yet tired of its tried and true trajectory-based combat likely wont find much to complain about here. Clan Wars is a worthy entry in the series, but even then, it’s good to hear that Team 17 is leaving the series alone for a while to work on something new.

Worms Clan Wars bietet traditionelle, schnörkellose Wurmschlachten in klassischer 2D-Struktur.

Worms: Clan Wars is a fine game and, aside from the odd physics bugs here and there, it puts the series back on track after some unfortunate deviations. But it’s essentially the same game from circa 1999, with a moderate graphical overall and a few new weapons. It took Team17 12 years and a few mis-steps to see they had it right way back then. With an engaging single-player experience and a seemingly strong and in-depth multiplayer component, there is plenty to keep us occupied for a while. The trouble Team17 will have is the same one they have had all along, and that is how to keep the series from going stale by adding fresh ideas without ruining it completely. But it’s safe to say that, this time, they got it right.
Darkstation (Aug 09, 2013)
I like the game overall, but it tends to grow a bit tired after a few missions from the story. Some of the actions taken on either side were glitchy and would save or kill me. I would throw a bomb and miss, but it would still hit its intended target and I would win. If you enjoyed the rest of the Worms games, you should have this one in your collection. It has its fun moments and can be lighthearted with its dry humor. These Worms can keep you entertained as you go along with the story or create a clan and have fun online. However, I mentioned before that the gameplay is repetitive and becomes frustrating when you unexpectedly jump and fall to your death. I would suggest trying this game out one mission at a time in story mode or Worm Ops to see if you have the skill and patience to keep up with the bots, and then move to Multiplayer and Clan Wars.
