With hours of violent action capable of being employed, Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage is certainly an easily rentable option if you're looking to kill time as mercilessly as the in-game enemy, but anything beyond the re-skinned Dynasty half only proves to be a chore.

If you have any love for the manga, feel free to add the final scar to the tally. For everyone else, this is just an old-school brawler that's partial to shouting ATATATATATATA. Because you're already dead.

If you like to play games that make you want to either fall asleep or pull your hair out in frustration, then Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage is the right game for you. Most of the action will lull you to a false sense of infallibility, until you reach the boss fights. Then you go from being nearly invincible to fighting someone that feels nearly impossible to beat. This wild swing in difficulty would be forgivable if the game were actually fun. It is anything but. Save your time and money on something else.
Thunderbolt Games (Dec 11, 2010)
Koei’s done what it did with the Gundam series: try to mix a popular anime series with their tired formula to try and fool players into thinking they’re playing something other than the latest, billionth installment of the ever unchanging Dynasty Warriors series. Something like Fist of the North Star deserved something better than just a blatant copy/paste job. Ultimately, all the buckets of blood in the world fail to hide this is the same thing players have grown disenchanted with a generation ago.

Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage will suck you in on the strength of its devastating carnage, but after a while you'll probably get sick of playing it.
