Halo Reach is a spectacular first-person shooter, and there's little doubt in my mind that this is the best one I've ever played.
GameSpy (Sep 13, 2010)
This is normally the part where I point out that if you don't like Halo, this isn't going to change your mind about the franchise. However, the new armor abilities change things up just enough to make Reach feel like a Halo game that even total newbies can enjoy. Frankly, pointing out the game's flaws feel nitpicky. You know, stuff like the lack of character development (I mean, it's a Halo game) and the occasional framerate drops that occur when the action gets a little too hot 'n' heavy. Suffice to say that while it's not a perfect game, it's definitely the best Halo game yet... and a fittingly epic goodbye to fans from Bungie, the developer that helped to launch a million Xboxes.
Thunderbolt Games (Oct 10, 2010)
Reach is the most spectacularly euphoric hello and goodbye in gaming history. Just as Halo 2’s single player was criticized for being a means to an end, Halo: Reach should be lauded for being an end to a means. It is an encore and a lap of honour for the most iconic trilogy of the past decade, complementing rather than trying to outdo its forbearers. Every aspect of Reach pays homage to the ‘Best of’ Halo, but successfully refreshes them to feel integral to the experience. With Reach, Bungie have encompassed every strength of every department to deliver their defining end product; a hello to some, a goodbye to many but a thank you to all.
Gamereactor (Sweden) (Sep 12, 2010)
Game Revolution (Sep 13, 2010)
While no game will ever be perfect, Halo: Reach is as close as Bungie is going to get with the series, and I think they knew that going in. So they did their damndest to make sure it lived up to its namesake, probably even more so than Halo 3 did. So pick up your needler, or sniper rifle, or plasma rifle, or 9mm, and lock and load for one last mission. It's going to be one hell of a day for you and the rest of Noble Team. Let's see who makes it out alive.
IGN UK (Sep 11, 2010)
Nine years in and on its fifth and final pass Bungie has created the definitive Halo experience, in which refinement is matched by the gentle revolutions of its new features. Armor abilities lend spark to a campaign that already boasts some of the series' finest level design and its most stirring set-pieces, and they help enliven a multiplayer set that's beyond generous. It's a parting gift from Bungie that should keep players entertained through to the next generation; and if any other console shooter can better it in that time it'll be one hell of a feat.
TotalVideoGames (TVG) (Sep 16, 2010)
Halo: Reach marks the end of an era and the game itself can stand up to that billing. It's a fitting swansong for Bungie, setting a beautiful end that takes you right back to the very beginning. In that way, the Halo saga is not unlike the actual Halo itself - how's that for circularity?
1UP (Sep 11, 2010)
Even excusing the minor flaws such as slight storytelling or framerate issues, is it safe to call Halo: Reach the best Halo game ever? It's way too early to declare as such -- this is the type of proclamation best saved for years of study and hindsight, rather than in the immediate glow of a fresh release. But after seeing the perfect last shot of the campaign (in fact, it's so spot-on, that Bungie community director Brian Jarrard confirms that, unlike previous titles, there's no additional cinematic or end-scene for finishing on Legendary difficulty -- everyone sees the same last scene), and playing round after round of multiplayer, I can say that while I admire and respect every previous Halo title, Reach is the Halo that I absolutely love.

Whether you like playing by yourself, with friends or with random people, Reach has something to offer for everyone. The gameplay has been polished throughout the years into what it is now, and the story is one of the best the series has seen. Add in some great multiplayer modes and the forge mode and you have a lot of game to play for a long time.
96 (Dec 18, 2010)
You've heard it, Halo: Reach perfections and varies not only its gameplay, its campaign and all kinds of multiplayer content, but also adds a more adult atmosphere, a persistent character with all kinds of personalisation options and a graphical and auditive jacket that can take on the best we can currently find on console. Combine this huge amount of content with a flawless finishing and a well-working thing called Xbox Live and you've got an absolute milestone in the shootergenre on console. As I said: buy it!
96 (Sep 14, 2010)
Halo: Reach manages to out-deliver Halo 3 - which was itself one of the most over-delivered game's in history. The updated visuals and AI engine combine with the ever more nuanced and varied gameplay, not to mention online modes and other new gadgets, to make this a game not to be missed. It's an experience in which Halo zealots, and haters, finally have a reason to drop arms and agree that there is an awful lot of fun to be had.
That Gaming Site (Sep 21, 2010)
You won't find a better value or more content on any system and there are few shooters that can compete with Reach's quality. If you're one of the few Xbox-owners who haven't yet picked up Reach, now is the time.
Despite my complaints, I had an absolute blast playing Halo: Reach and still am having a great time playing multiplayer, co-oping with people in firefight, and helping to create crazy maps in Forge. It’s such a well-made game that small imperfections stand out that much more in comparison. Halo: Reach has nearly everything a Halo fan could want. This is that friend who’s been there with you for 9 years and is leaving to go forge a new destiny. Halo: Reach is that goodbye dinner; that last night at the bar leaving behind good memories that gamers will recall fondly years later. Goodbye Bungie. Thanks for the lightning in a bottle.
AusGamers (Oct 01, 2010)
If you haven't liked a Halo game yet, Reach isn't going to win you over as it's just the same thing only amplified. Halo fans, like myself, are loving this game. Although no Halo game can ever have match the impact of the first, Halo: Reach is the best yet. Thank you, Bungie.
GameSpot (Sep 13, 2010)
Halo: Reach is not only brimming with excellent content, but it's also bursting with possibilities. The exciting campaign, addictive Firefight mode, and dynamic competitive multiplayer make it one of the best shooters around. The extensive customization options, powerful Theater tools, and staggering Forge capabilities make it one of the most malleable and socially engaging games on consoles. And the slick menu system brings it all together with remarkable simplicity. Though its deep roots may not win over those who haven't enjoyed previous games in the series, Halo: Reach is a towering achievement that delivers an enormous amount of engaging content that players will no doubt be enjoying for years to come.
XboxAchievements (Sep 11, 2010)
With Halo: Reach, Bungie wanted to go out on a high and other than a few grumbles about the game’s campaign, it’s a relatively flawless experience. As far as value for money goes, Halo: Reach is undeniably one of the best investments out there on the market. With Firefight 2.0, the amazing Forge World and the multiplayer to sink your teeth into after the campaign is done and dusted, you can squeeze as many hours as you want out of this beast. Choice, value and high production values mean that you won’t regret the purchase. It’s Halo. It’s the best Halo yet. It’s Bungie going out with a deafening bang.
93 (Sep 17, 2010)
Halo: Reach on tasaisen varma päätös Bungien taipaleelle rakastetun tieteisräiskeen historiassa.
Game Freaks 365 (Sep 14, 2010)
At the end of the day, Halo: Reach is just another Halo game. That is not necessarily a bad thing, the same way that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is great in its own right, but does not stand apart as a masterpiece. This is tried and true territory. You know what to expect and if you like it, then by all means, Halo: Reach is for you. Anyone that is tired of the same old Halo shooters, though, will find this to be beating a nearly decade old dead horse.
So, this is goodbye from Bungie's Xbox reign. It's been a hell of a ride. The studio's opted out of pumping Reach full of the sort of brash, risky ideas that started it all, for a more stable, predictable affair. But that doesn't mean it hasn't put a fitting, beautiful and hugely enjoyable full stop on a series that - in terms of what videos games were capable of - truly changed everything.

I called it a monument at the start, and that's just it. Reach is an encore, a victory lap, a crowd-pleasing last hurrah for a series that most definitely won't end here, but will just as definitely never be the same again. Halo deserves another game this good, and Reach is a deserving tribute.
90 Gaming Portal (Sep 27, 2010)
A očekivali smo uistinu mnogo.
Softpedia (Sep 29, 2010)
Halo: Reach is a milestone for gaming, marking the departure of Bungie from the franchise and the most complete video game of its series. Fans of the series and fans of first person shooters alike need to pick it up.

Lens of Truth (Sep 27, 2010)
There’s no doubt about it, Bungie’s farewell to the Halo franchise is the most robust entry in the series. Halo: Reach offers players an epic campaign, fantastic audio & visuals, and a multiplayer that is so addictive, you may need to seek counseling in a few months to stop playing it. Nevermind being a Halo fan, if you’re at all interested in First Person Shooters, you owe it to yourself to pick-up and play Reach. Now that Bungie is leaving the series, chances are you won’t play another FPS quite this good for a long time.
GamersGlobal (Sep 12, 2010)

The robust and extensive suite of features make for a compelling overall package. It's an incredible campaign, and its less bombastic plot and clear-cut story stop it from getting bogged down in the sense of being overworked. Bungie has clearly proven it can step out of Master Chief's gigantic shadow, although I'm not so sure Microsoft will be able to do the same. Anyone following the Halo series for the last decade couldn't ask for a better game, as Bungie has exited its most precious series with one almighty, planet-shattering bang.

VideogameUK (Sep 24, 2010)
If I had to fault it in one aspect it would be that the game can slow down a bit when there is a hell of a lot happening on screen at once, but other than that this is, to me, what Halo 3 SHOULD have been. It’s a non-stop, all-action fun fest, which will be annoyingly hard in some bits, joyfully playable in others and is what any great game should be; simple, but a hell of a lot of fun. It has reinvigorated the series for me, but rather ironically it’s as Bungie say goodbye to it.
Giant Bomb (Sep 11, 2010)
Reach's expanded multiplayer component offers a huge amount of variety that will keep Halo fans going for a good, long time.
Wired (Sep 12, 2010)
There used to be a big difference between annual, flogged-to-death franchises and event games like Halo, but that line is blurring. And Reach takes a couple of chinks in its armor for retreading ground. The final, bittersweet moments of the game’s campaign suggest that Bungie has put much thought into the dilemma: Can you have too much of a good thing?
Gamekult (Sep 16, 2010)
The A.V. Club (Sep 15, 2010)
That high-fiving, frat-house, epithet-spewing, tea-bagging culture has had the unfortunate side-effect of making the Halo universe increasingly less soulful, rendering the subtitle of the original game-"Combat evolved"-something of an oxymoron.
Brash Games (Nov 13, 2010)
The real issue with Halo: Reach is that it’s so very, very old. It used to be a spectacular title full of innovation. Not so any longer. Regardless of how much you love or hate the franchise, you have to admit that while it was once great, it’s now just a little bit boring. Games like Gears Of War and COD are the ones making the biggest strides in the Xbox 360 world, and without that kind of progressive thinking, Halo doesn’t stand up too well as any kind of contender in the white trash gaming arena.
Game Shark (Sep 17, 2010)
Halo is still a superlative multiplayer game, and with a group of friends, there's nothing quite like a well-tuned game mode or a white-knuckle finish to a Firefight. It's a shame that Halo: Reach couldn't add $60 worth of improvements to it.
Gaming since 198x (Oct 08, 2010)
