Hot Wheels: Beat That! is an interesting combat racing title with plenty of events to play, cars to unlock and weapons to exploit. It’s a fun title for the kids, and even older gamers may get a bit nostalgic value of their old Hot Wheels cars.
And while the game is generally fun, it's strictly for casual, arcade racing-style fans. After all, you won't be tweaking your differential on these tin rigs.
Hot Wheels: Beat That is the kind of battle racing game that will score well with the younger crowd that the 360 too often forgets about. If you are still of the age where you enjoy the occasional spin around the room with a die-cast car, this will be right up your alley. For the rest, the shallow, repetitive gameplay will wear on you after a few hours.
Hot Wheels: Beat That! has a lot of potential for being a fun game. The cars, courses and basic gameplay are enough to support a decent game - at least for younger players or those out for a little nostalgia. However, a few key design trade-offs aren't made, resulting in poor mechanics which pull the entire experience down.
Hot Wheels: Beat That! would have made a solid gift for a 6-8 year old kid looking for a new racing game if the game was valued-priced. At full retail price, though, it’s near impossible to recommend the game for purchase. It’s not that anything is inherently broken but it is incredibly uninspired.
We have trouble recommending Hot Wheels: Beat That to even the most die hard Hot Wheels fans. The game becomes repetitive and boring after just half an hour and the gameplay is just too dull. The large amount of glitches is unforgiving and this is a game that needed at least another six months work. Stick to your Hot Wheels cars, they are a lot more enjoyable than this game.
As scathing as it may sound, there's really no reason for a racing fan to play Hot Wheels: Beat That! unless that fan is a little kid. Although the gameplay isn't quite broken since it's still physically possible to participate in races, it just isn't fun. Even more unfortunate is the fact that the game's few positive elements, like awarding flame points (use for unlocking content) for achieving secondary goals, are completely lost in a much greater number of negative traits. Ultimately, there's a great deal of irony in Beat That!'s title, since it's beaten very easily by the majority of racing titles on the market today.

Bref, malgré un concept gentillet, Hot Wheels est bien trop bâclé pour convaincre, même les joueurs encore en âge de jouer aux petites voitures.
Hot Wheels: Beat That! had the potential to be a lot of fun. Young and young at heart gamers could have shared in the fun of speeding through miniature tracks strung out all over creation. It was a great way to take a popular franchise and take a strong position in the overcrowded field of racing games. Instead, the game takes the license and trashes the experience, making this feel less like Hot Wheels and more like one of the millions of cheap dollar store knockoffs.
