Daily Game (Dec 21, 2011)
As you can likely tell from this review, Hulk Hogan’s Main Event seems expansive on the surface, but it’s essentially the same basic pieces rearranged and re-swizzled into a few different modes. Hearing quotes from Hulk Hogan is cool, the Achievement Points are easy, and it’s definitely novel to strike a pose like the Hulkster. But a bit more grappling freedom would’ve gone a long way to making this Xbox Kinect game live up to Hulk Hogan’s massive persona.
Hulk Hogan's Main Event is merely the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what the Kinect may be able to do. Putting players into games is a relatively new concept and this title certainly has a good idea, but bogs down when it comes to the timing and recognition of moves. At times, it seems as if the Kinect can't read fast moves. The game is like a body slam that misses the mark and ends up with the wrestler doing a face plant -- close, but not quite there.

Outside of the core gameplay, the career mode is a bore, the cartoony visual style is ugly, and the voice implementation is super-sloppy. Even as a Live Arcade game, Main Event wouldn’t rank high on the fight card. As a fully priced retail Kinect game, it’s an embarrassment.
GameZone (2011)
To sum it up, Hulk Hogan’s Main Event is destined to score the worst game of the year honors for 2011. It’s sloppy, hideous-looking, lacking in extras, and completely pointless, and the fact that you can’t even take on a friend in a real versus match takes away any remaining appeal. Eat your vitamins, say your prayers, and play something else, brother.

Hulk Hogan’s Main Event is a baffling product, and I have no idea who its intended audience is. I guess it could be for fans of wrestling and crappy Punch-Out clones, but even that doesn’t make sense. I’m a lifelong fan of professional wrestling, and I love Punch-Out so much that it made the list of my ten favorite games of all-time. Main Event is an absolutely atrocious title, and I received no entertainment value out of it whatsoever. The best compliment I can give it is that Kinect picks up on what you want to do some of the time, but that would be like complimenting a Mario game for recognizing that you want to jump when you press A. In the six years I’ve been doing this, I can honestly say that Hulk Hogan’s Main Event is the worst game I’ve ever reviewed.
