Madden NFL 11 makes the act of getting into a simulation football game a great deal easier, and without removing any of the complexity of the game, to boot.

But, yeah, I'll go ahead and admit it: I don't know exactly how Madden 11 will hold up for me over the next year. But I do know that, unlike most years, I really feel the improvements instead of just reading about them in a press release or seeing them on the back of the box. And when it comes to Madden, that's as big a difference as I've felt in half a decade.
GameSpot (Aug 09, 2010)
Despite the gameplay quirks and presentation hiccups, Madden NFL 11 is still a great football game. The improved AI and enhanced physics system makes the on-field action even better than before, and the realistic commentary makes your quest for victory carry that much more weight. The changes are generally subtle, so casual football fans may not notice all the tweaks to the core gameplay. But for those who live for football and get pumped for granular changes, Madden NFL 11 once again hoists the Lombardi Trophy.
XboxAchievements (Sep 09, 2010)
As ever the latest Madden offers the best NFL experiences available on consoles... but it did the same last year, and the year before that. So the actual progression seems minimal to be honest and the new features are probably not enough to lure in any new converts, or satisfy the old guard that played last year's title. It is good fun, but not really a must own.

Only those adamant about having the latest game in their collection will feel compelled to pick this one up. Others can probably bench this version and wait another development cycle, hoping that some of the more neglected parts of the franchise will finally be given the ball.

Going back to my analogy of the tortured Miami Dolphins fan wanting more every season, because that’s the way I feel with this years effort. On the face of it, with some new changes in the off-season, the underlying problems still raise their ugly face once the newly formed lacquer has been peeled away. The additions in the form of locomotion, better sideline catches, crowd chants and to some degree GameFlow are welcome, though I can’t help but feel underwhelmed at the incremental changes that EA Tiburon make to the “greatest show on turf”. With unchanged game modes and the same AI exploits being abused online with previous Maddens, the core game hasn’t really differed much in terms of making a satisfactory football game that the rabid NFL fan base demand.
The Video Game Critic (Sep 04, 2010)
Madden 11 gets the job done, but EA is looking as lazy as ever. A lot of die-hard Madden fans will be unsatisfied with this year's effort.
