NZGamer (Dec 15, 2009)
Despite the bizarre you-failed-because-the-Germans-surrendered quirk this is one of the top turn-based strategy titles of the generation. On the down side it isn’t something casual gamers will get into easily. Play the trial first.
Game Shark (Nov 11, 2009)
Still, for 10 bucks the game is an absolute steal. The name might be a bit confusing (and a bit misleading, really) but Xbox Live Arcade is the ideal place for a game such as this – it would never see the light of day if it was designed for retail. Turn based gaming on the 360 is rare, but hopefully Allied Assault finds its niche with gamers looking for yet one more way to win World War II.
TeamXbox (Nov 17, 2009)
For 800 Microsoft Points (or around $10), Panzer General packs in the content. In addition to the lengthy solo campaign, there are Multiplayer and Skirmish modes, and even the ability to customize your own decks. It’s far more brainy than flashy, but if you enjoy turn-based strategy, card battlers or just miss the days when gaming could mean picking up dice rather than a gamepad, then there’s definitely some brain-bending fun to be had. And, even though you’ll use your mind instead of your trigger finger, you’re still killing Nazis—never a bad thing!
Official XBox Magazine (Oct 21, 2009)
While the deceptively complex gameplay of Panzer General certainly won’t appeal to everyone, armchair generals will find more than enough to get the full bang out of their buck.
MS Xbox World (Oct 26, 2009)
Panzer Generals: Allied Assault is an impressive little game, the battles are challenging but also rewarding. At times you will question the computer's abilities when the dice goes against you, but then praise it for screwing over the enemy. It can be quite frustrating sometimes if a bad set of cards are given to the player, because you don't have direct control over the units it seems like the game is cheating. The feeling of deciding to sacrifice a high value unit, predicting if it's worthwhile in the long run is almost nail biting. The pacing of the game might be too slow for some, but the game does well to create enough variety to keep it feeling fresh. Don't let the fact that it is a card game put you off, this is one addictive arcade title and has more intense moments than plenty of the shooters and action games out there.
GameSpot (Oct 27, 2009)
Even though this isn't the wargame that you might have played on your 486, Panzer General: Allied Assault is an impressive strategy game in its own right. It might not please hardcore grognards, but anyone looking for a quick card-based board game with a WWII atmosphere will find this a great way to spend 800 points.
GameZone (Nov 05, 2009)
For the decent price of 800 MSP ($10) Panzer General delivers great gameplay over a lengthy campaign. The slow down will bother some, but most will come away pretty pleased with this unique style of board game.
TalkXbox (Nov 06, 2009)
Panzer General hits it where it counts – in the gameplay department. If you can get past the weak visuals, you will find a surprisingly good game. Another small gripe happens to be its slow pace, which is common in this genre. If you like to approach your games in a methodical fashion, Panzer General is right down your alley. WWII strategy buffs out there, you finally have your game for a remarkably low $10 price tag.
Eurogamer.it (Nov 05, 2009)
IGN (Oct 21, 2009)
Many games are trying to be more accessible these days, but Panzer General: Allied Assault isn't having it. It's a nerdy, hardcore strategy game, and thank goodness for it. Combining mechanics from Final Fantasy Tactics and Magic: The Gathering, strategy fans will find a lot to like here. It's not going to win any beauty pageants and customizing your deck should be easier, but there are dozens of hours of solid tactical gameplay to be fought through here.

Panzer General is not a bad game it’s just not an entertaining one. For anyone not aware that it’s a board game, you can feel quite short changed. Hopefully in the future Ubisoft will invest in a XBLA FPS game around this theme, or invent a mini-game for it just to add to the design. As it stands though, it’s just about passable.
Everyeye.it (Nov 12, 2009)
In definitiva quindi, Panzer General: Allied Assault vale decisamente i miseri 800 Microsoft Points necessari all’acquisto.
Eurogamer.net (UK) (Nov 11, 2009)
Panzer General: Allied Assault is not for everyone. It will definitely gain a small subset of rabidly devoted XBLA players and rightly so - it's a great tactical turn-based game. But the average gamer will be a long way outside of their comfort zone. If you're sitting on the fence wondering if you'd like to face-palm those cheeky 1940s oppressors, then by all means check out the one-level demo sitting on Live right now. Who knows? Maybe there'll be a legion of newly converted strategy fans stepping on the napes of evil necks squatting in XBLA cyberspace. Good luck, soldier.
Gamer Limit (Nov 27, 2009)
Though it may please fans of the strategy and card genres, Panzer General: Allied Assault is hindered by a few crippling flaws that will likely make it unattractive to the average player.
GamingXP (Nov 06, 2009)
Console Monster (Dec 22, 2009)
To conclude, Panzer General: Allied Assault is a title that very few people would enjoy. The game’s slow speed and historical context will only appeal to strategic and war enthusiasts, rather than the typical average gamer.
