Peter Jackson's King Kong is one of the most intense experiences I've had with game in a while. This is for sure buy for the Xbox, or Xbox 360. The plot doesn't let go, it grabs you and throws you into the heart of Skull Island, surviving as man and dominating as Kong. King Kong deserves you attention you will be amazed.

While King Kong is nearly a perfect game, there is the occasional glitch of a creature becoming stuck in the scenery. Gamers with an aversion to first-person action may want to pass on this game, because the dark, rainy environments and frantic action can make it hard to get your bearings. Finally, after completing this harrowing journey it's unlikely you'll want to replay this game anytime soon, although it is possible to play individual stages for score. King Kong is one of the most immersive and memorable games I've experienced. Brilliant on the 360, I hear it's nearly as impressive on the Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube.
It's man versus beast captured in astonishing gameplay, creating one great memory after another. It's too bad it only clocks in at six hours. The final scene in NY is a letdown, as well. Regardless, this shouldn't steer you away from one of the most intense adventures to date.
It’s hard to fault King Kong as it’s such a well-made game. There are never any moments of annoyance or frustration, and every single chapter in the game is enjoyable, with only the very last level (unsurprisingly in New York City) being a bit of a disappointment. The game is very short, with a completion time of around 8 hours, so it wont last you forever, but I’d much rather have a superbly made game like this lasting that length of time over something much poorer taking me 20 hours to complete. So to conclude, forget what you think of movie licensed games, King Kong just changed everything. This is an excellent game and deserves your attention.

Nach unserem Test der Version für die Xbox, haben wir die Retailversion der Xbox 360-Version unter die Lupe genommen, um zu ergründen, welche Unterschiede bestehen oder ob es reine Grafikupdates sind, die die beiden Spiele unterschiedlich macht. Dieser Test ist natürlich im großen Maße identisch mit unserem anderen Test, nur im Grafikbereich und in der Wertung finden sich Unterschiede.

King Kong reiht sich in die kurze Liste der gelungenen Filmumsetzungen ein. Die Mischung aus super Inszenierung, genialem Sound und motivierender Action ergibt Spielspaß pur, der noch mehr Lust auf den Kinofilm macht und viel zu schnell wieder vorbei ist. Unser Respekt gebührt Michel Ancel und seinem Team bei Ubisoft, denen wir dieses Spiel zu verdanken haben.

Kong is one of the first generation of new console games that uses a small percentage of the Xbox 360’s power. It looks a lot better than the Xbox incarnation of the game and the 360 version is slightly harder in places than the others.
I will say that the alternate ending is well worth unlocking, but even that isn't enough to satisfy my urge for a really compelling conclusion. Still, despite its brevity and the somewhat shoddy ending, there are many moments in this game that I will remember for a lifetime, and I commend the developers for creating an amazing experience, I just wish there were more of it.
It’s not just the pervading craft behind Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie that makes it memorable as one of the best movie-based video games. It’s the daring of Michel Ancel and his team to make a game that ventures outside the typically rigid formula imposed on these types of projects. You feel like you’re playing a game drawn from the spirit of the film, yet not confining the gamemaker’s personal vision to the sideline.

Having accomplished a major feat by brilliantly bringing J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy to life, director Peter Jackson set his sights on a much bigger and hairier project. The legacy of King Kong has been chronicled well after the cinematic achievement that was the 1933 classic, having spawned a remake that starred Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lang as well as questionable sequels and the unfortunate pairing of Kong and Godzilla. Now in the year 2005 Kong is king again on the big screen as well as on the smaller screen with Peter Jackson’s King Kong for the Xbox 360.

The game's overall quality is countered a bit by the length, which comes in at somewhere around eight hours -- the first four of which don't serve much purpose other than to immerse you in the world and prepare you for the great second half -- but the payoff for those who make it all the way through to New York is awfully nice and well worth experiencing for anyone who's interested in the game. The whole package does a fantastic job of building up to a climactic ending, and it's one you won't want to miss.

Trotz einiger Längen, monotonen Rätseleinlagen und immer gleichen Gegnern schafft es King Kong vor allem durch die beklemmende und dichte Atmosphäre, den Spieler bei der Stange zu halten. Und auch wenn die Grafik trotz wunderschöner Bilder technisch weniger überzeugen kann, hat man oft das Gefühl, tatsächlich in einem Film zum Mitspielen gelandet zu sein. Zwar hat man sich irgendwann wirklich an dem Dschungel satt gesehen, doch entschädigt das grandiose Gefühl beim Erklimmen des Empire State Building im Finale für so manchen zähen Moment davor. Nicht zu vergessen die genial inszenierten Begegnungen mit dem T-Rex, die man sowohl in der Rolle als Jack Driscoll als auch mit Kong nicht so schnell vergessen dürfte. Von daher zählt King Kong ganz sicher zu den besseren Videospielumsetzungen eines Kinofilms, die allerdings aufgrund kleiner spielerischer Schwächen sowie der ruckelanfälligen Darstellung knapp am Award vorbeischlittert.

Mein Motto : Besser kurz und gut als langezogen und langweilig. Denn so kurz King Kong auch ist, so viel Spaß macht es auch, durch freispielbare Boni wie Artworks oder Videooptionen spielt man es auch gerne ein zweites Mal. Als Kong durch den Urwald zu fegen oder als Jack vor dem V-Rex wegzulaufen wird es so schnell nicht wieder geben. Ubi Soft hat es geschafft ein Vorzeige Filmlizenz Spiel zu entwicklen, andere Publisher sollten sich das mal als Vorbild nehmen. Ich vermisse allerdings einen kleinen Multiplayer Part, Deathmatch im Jungle oder King vs. Kong über Xbox Live wäre ein zusätzlicher Spaßgarant gewesen.

Game length and story balance aside, Michel Ancel and the other folks at Ubisoft have done the almost unheard of and made a very good game based on the events of a movie in Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie. Considering the last time the iconic character of King Kong came to consoles in the USA was in 1982 on the Atari 2600 in a game by Tigervision, it was way overdue. And when you further consider the quality percentages between the crapfests that have been the majority of the numerous Godzilla games and the two Kong games, the giant hairy ape beats the giant scaly reptile hands down in the game department.

The first-person action adventure/third-person gorilla beat-'em-up combo genre has been born in Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie. As the long-winded title suggests, this is the game based on the upcoming retelling of the 1933 film by the Academy Award-winning director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. King Kong feels more like a stand-alone product than a handy cash-in for the license, however. This game blends the aforementioned first-person action sequences with its third-person (or should it be third-gorilla?) components remarkably well, as you traverse the perils of Skull Island as both screenwriter Jack Driscoll and the 800-pound gorilla himself, King Kong. It also helps that both components, on their own standing, can be a great deal of fun when the game is at its best--which, fortunately, is the majority of the time.

Overall, King Kong is a good title that shows film to game translations can work well if done properly. The game provides an atmosphere that is extremely immersive and an intense experience right to the end. However it may be wise to rent instead of purchase, especially to anyone that the film does not appeal too, simply because of the short lifespan of the game.

Summing up, King Kong is actually a very, very good game to play. Problems with it exist in that (a) the game is far to short in duration and can be completed in less than a day's play and (b) you don't get control of Kong as much as you would like. That said this is certainly a must play title on the 360, just remember to give it the justice it deserves and play it on a HD TV.

If you’re one of those people that basically writes off licensed movies games, you might want to give King Kong. Even if Ubisoft didn’t get all the plot points right, it’s a fine looking game with fun gameplay for the most part. Now let’s just see the tables turn and hope that Peter Jackson can make Halo a decent movie.

King Kong is a truly immersive adventure that King Kong fans shouldn’t miss. Because of its length, it’s hard to ultimately recommend purchasing the game for its full retail price, but renting this one is ideal. Some fresh design mechanics and intriguing story progression make King Kong a very enjoyable and absorbing adventure for all gamers. Peter Jackson did well to put Michael Ancel in charge of this one.

King Kong is a game that by design ought to suffer from a lack of identity. Most of the time you're playing through the eyes of Jack Driscoll, a gallant sort of chap desperate to extricate a damsel from enormously hairy distress, while some of the time you're working from over the shoulder of the very architect of her plight, the aforementioned enormously hairy Kong.

Despite the typical industry pitfalls associated with forgettable movie licensed games and hurried system launch titles, Peter Jackson's King Kong manages to deliver the goods with the unlikely blend of first-person shooting and third-person gorilla fighting in this entertaining and highly engaging jungle adventure. With plenty of challenging and violent monster battles set in gorgeous island environments, Kong has no trouble proving he' still the top banana.

With New Zealand Director Peter Jackson having achieved both technical and artistic merits with his triple-crown adaptation of J. R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy, the man Elijah Woods once called a "hobbit" has reached the state of the Midas touch. From now on nearly everything he's involved with glows with promise. That he would be so open to work with a game company such as Ubisoft shouldn't come as such a surprise... but it is. What directors other than the Wachowski brothers have worked so closely with a videogame company and given such access to their development team, processes, and assets?

With the current-gen consoles (PS2, Xbox, GameCube), many game publishers make a base version of their game and "port" it so it works on the other consoles. When the Xbox 360 launched, only two companies tried their hand at releasing next-gen versions of their games at the same time as their current-gen counterparts. The first of those companies, Activision, released Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (review) and Gun (review), both of which were only marginally better than their current-gen counterparts. The second company, Ubisoft, tried to capitalize on the mania surrounding Peter Jackson's King Kong motion picture, releasing probably the longest-named videogame ever created: Peter Jackson's King Kong The Official Game of the Movie.

Si le tandem Jackson/Ancel donne vie à un Kong transis d'amour et plein de fureur, on est un peu déçu de la place offerte au grand singe. La balance entre les deux phases est un peu bancale et c'est d'autant plus flagrant que les passages avec Jack tournent autour de deux seuls types d'objectifs. Hormis un lifting graphique, la version Xbox 360 est identique à celle de ses consoeurs et on regrette un peu d'y retrouver les mêmes bugs de collision. Cependant, King Kong est malgré tout un jeu qui se laisse pleinement apprécier (même s'il se finit en 8 petites heures), grâce à une immersion totale qui doit énormément à un gameplay ingénieux, une ambiance fidèlement retranscrite et une passion immodérée de son créateur envers sa créature.

It's always a little weird when a game based on a film comes out a good couple of weeks before the source material, but that's exactly the case with the exhaustingly-titled Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie. After all, why spoil the film by playing through the game?

There isn’t much replay value in King Kong. With the lack of any sort of Live/Co-Op play, you won’t find yourself going back to the game once you have beaten it. The achievements are all easy and there is only a few. There isn’t any sort of collectibles in the game to extend the length of the game.

Although King Kong is a technically impressive marvel, the sheer amount of repetition in its first half is insufferable even with the game's anemic six hour length. King Kong is redeemed in its last few hours, but a game this short with such limited replay value is really best suited for a rental. Rent It.

Where the games based on Peter Jackson's interpretation of The Lord of the Rings have trod fairly traditional grounds, the one based on his rendering of King Kong does anything but. Peter Jackson's King Kong takes some pretty bold steps to distance itself from the multitude of by-the-numbers movie licensed-games, and it succeeds on many accounts.

A fun game while it lasts but far too short to justify shelling out full price, that being said it’s a lot better than its status as a ‘points only’ game would lead you to imagine. Pick it up on the cheap or rent it and have a blast for a few hours.

King Kong was one of the shortest games I have played in some time. If a person played a lot of games with duel analog sticks they could beat the game in less time you could go and see the movie (The movie is 3 hrs 20 min long). In the end not even great graphical output could save this game. You can go back and play each level again to open other special features like an alternative ending, interviews with Peter Jackson, Art and more but it does not add any value to the game or gameplay. Do yourself a favor and go see the movie instead.

I beat Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie that was a Remake of the Original Movie, then promptly returned it. This game would have been a lot better if it wasn’t plagued by so many poor design decisions. Imagine a free-roaming King Kong game, with a main plot line that you can ignore as you run through the jungle, beating the piss out of dinosaurs with tree trunks and rocks. That would have been awesome. Instead, we were given this six to eight hour snooze fest. Maybe I was a victim of my own expectations, but either way, I didn’t enjoy this game at all, and I suggest that you avoid it.
