Simply put Bizarre Creations has crafted, in this reviewer’s opinion, the perfect racing game. The sheer amount of modes, options, cars is enough to hook the casual while the hardcores will enjoy building up Kudos and trying to make appearances on Gotham TV. With stellar Xbox Live integration and an almost infinite number of ways to play the game Project Gotham Racing 3 is the definition of what next-gen gaming should be. I simply cannot recommend this title more, if you own and Xbox 360 do yourself a favor and buy it now!
Snackbar-Games.com (Jun 28, 2006)
As far as racers go, you can't do a whole lot better than PGR3 on the Xbox 360. The game blends the realistic speed of the Gran Turismo series with the style of an arcade racer, all while looking great to boot. Besides that, it's probably one of the best games you can own for Xbox Live. A challenging and stylish experience, Project Gotham Racing 3 was great as an Xbox 360 launch title, and it's still ranks as one of the best games on the console.
GamesFirst! (Dec 05, 2005)
In the end Project Gotham Racing 3 is the most solid and polished launch title for the Xbox 360 and it's most certainly the prettiest racer ever. Sorry Gran Turismo, but you've got nothing on these cars. PGR 3 screams to be viewed in 1080i. On a normal TV the game never really gets a chance to show its true colors. The game doesn't do anything truly revolutionary or elevate the series to a new plateau of quality. But the gameplay and presentation is incredibly polished. More than anything, the game is damn fun. Worth every penny.
Deeko (Nov 27, 2005)
Project Gotham Racing 3 is an amazing visual treat and though the gameplay may feel a bit too similar to Project Gotham Racing 2 in a number of ways, the overall experience can be summed up in two words: simply incredible.
1UP (Nov 15, 2005)
Over the past summer, I became a pedestrian for the first time since I turned sixteen years old. My San Francisco-based job at the 1UP offices afforded me the opportunity to forego the costs of owning an automobile and allowed me, for the first time in my life, to rely solely on public transportation; I've appreciated the change -- especially the large chunk now left in my wallet -- and yet every few weeks I really get the urge to cue up my current iPod playlist and get back behind the wheel my former car.
DarkZero (Dec 20, 2005)
I will make it clear to you; anyone who was lucky enough to get an Xbox 360 should own this game. It is perhaps the greatest of the launch titles, certainly the ones published by Microsoft - It has great depth and playability and will last you as long as you want it to. Bizarre have crafted a wonderful title that is rightly one of the greatest racing games we have ever witnessed. I would be surprised if PGR 3 did not take over from PGR 2 as one of the best games played on Xbox Live, it certainly possesses features that no other game has. I recommend this game to everyone, it is a great title for newcomers to the racing genre, I was not a massive racing fan before playing this game, but as some of our forumers may tell you - this game has not been out of my Xbox 360. So the Project Gotham Racing series once again lays down the marker for others to catch up to, roll on PGR 4!

If you're looking to jump onto a track, get your car up to 200 or so and then jump into a power-slide around a hairpin turn and then (and only then) hit the nitrous and maintain control of the car, you're looking for a different game. If you would like to try to put your skills to the test in some of the coolest cars available on the market and race against others in realistic conditions on recognizable tracks from around the world, pick up a copy of Project Gotham Racing 3 today.

Anyone that owns an Xbox 360 should play Project Gotham Racing 3. This game demonstrates the power of the system with amazing visuals, audio, and a plethora of gameplay options. And to top off this treat of next-gen goodness are solid controls, the photo mode, Geometry Wars demos, and the most solid online racing to date. This game will be a defining title for the Xbox360 for a long time to come.
VGcore (Jan 06, 2006)
PGR 3 is the racing game to get for your 360. It is the best racing game you can get on launch day. Sure, there are a few accessibility issues, and the drive to complete the game is not as powerful as it once was, but these are hardly important when you look at the game as a whole. It is gorgeous, sounds amazing, and for once has an online community full of people who are actually nice. Don't think about it. Buy this game.
USA Today (Jan 12, 2006)
PGR3 offers plenty of "oohs" and "aahs" with impressive graphics and sound. But luckily this game still plays very well too. And with a robust online package and plenty of racing options, it becomes a 360 must-have.
Jolt (UK) (Mar 08, 2006)
Project Gotham is still a series plugging away in a league of its own, but this time in every sense. Absolutely astounding.
Extreme Gamer (Dec 27, 2005)
I managed to put down my controller just long enough to write this review of Bizarre Creations stunning Project Gotham Racing 3. Integrated beautifully with the new Xbox 360 console, we have a impressive racing title that delivers a well rounded driving experience. Start those engines; here is our review of Project Gotham Racing 3 from Microsoft.
PGNx Media (Dec 11, 2005)
Bizarre Creations’ latest racer shows off the Xbox 360’s eye candy. The Project Gotham Racing (PGR) series has always been a looker, with both games maximizing the original Xbox’s potential at the time of release. PGR 3 is the game that really shows off the muscle of the Xbox 360’s graphical prowess, but beneath that is a solid racer to boot.
Worth Playing (Nov 24, 2005)
When the original Xbox hit the gaming scene four years ago, one of the launch titles was a racer called Project Gotham Racing, basically a retooled version of the Dreamcast hit, Metropolis Street Racer. The graphics where good and the gameplay was solid, but developer Bizarre Creations still had a lot of things to iron out and perfect. They did just that with PGR 2, a title that many still consider as one of the best racers ever. The graphics were stunning and near photorealistic at times, the gameplay was about as close to perfection as they could be, and the title brought the series online with one of the best multiplayer experiences on Xbox Live. Microsoft has just released its second game console, the Xbox 360, and the next iteration of the series, Project Gotham Racing 3, is among the launch titles.
Gaming Target (Jan 13, 2006)
The Project Gotham series has served Microsoft well as its premier racing title. Beginning with the first entry which launched with the original Xbox in 2001, PGR has distinguished itself with stellar graphics, real city tracks and great gameplay which relied heavily on “Kudos”, a system that rewards the player with points for pulling off cool maneuvers like powerslides and other stylish moves. PGR2 took the racing online and upped the ante with real, live competition via the Internet, and now Project Gotham Racing 3 combines the best elements of both of the initial entries into an astonishingly gorgeous, fully-featured single and multiplayer next gen shred-fest with an incredible amount of cool, top-of-the-line speed machines to collect and race.
Xboxdynasty (XD) (Dec 31, 2005)
Xbox Exclusive (2005)
Bizarre Creations has had a heck of a run. Piling up the kudos from a rolling start with Metropolis Street Racer (Dreamcast), then power sliding around a huge turn to land launch title Project Gotham Racing on the original recipe Xbox, they’ve kept the crowd cheering for more than five years. When they surged ahead of the racing pack with PGR2, fans wondered if anyone could ever catch up…and now they have their answer. With a ridiculously showy Never-ending Drift, Project Gotham Racing 3 has crossed the finish line as the Number One racer for the Xbox 360 at launch – and the competition wasn’t even close.
TeamXbox (Nov 17, 2005)
Project Gotham Racing 3 is great from poll, all the way to the winner’s circle, and will have a hard time being passed by the competition. Don’t miss out on building your TrueSkill early; pick up Project Gotham Racing 3 ASAP. It’s well worth the entry fee.
If you can't figure out by now that Project Gotham Racing 3 is the flagship racing game for the Xbox 360 launch then I don't know what to tell you. From mind blowing graphics and lighting effects and the brilliant experience of speed. The enormous amount of vehicle choices and racing options. Music choices out the whazoo, and stellar sound effects. All the online possibilities with leaderboards and live viewing of races. Add to that an easy to use track editor and you have a real winner here. PGR3 gets the checkered flag in my book, and is a must have in your new Xbox 360 library.
Shin Force (Nov 26, 2005)
The full integration of Xbox Live combined with a game built from the ground up for Xbox 360 produces one of the best racing experiences (definitely on the simulation side of the spectrum) on any console. Project Gotham Racing 3 is easy to get into, amazing to watch, and full of rewarding gameplay to keep a player's interest level high. This is a must-have launch title for the Wundermachine.
Xbox World Australia (XWA) (Mar 21, 2006)
With the launch of the Xbox 360 there's quite a good selection of games available and one of the main questions friends and family are continually asking me is "which game should I pick up with my new Xbox 360?" Well it's not really an easy answer as there are at least one or more games from each of the main genres and they all range from fairly solid, to great to awesome. In my opinion while Project Gotham Racing 3 (from now on PGR3) is an incredible looking racer, many people may look at it as suffering from a lack of "next-generation innovation", it's a quality racer through and through with some of the best graphics out of all the launch titles and a few great new features as well.
Gamezilla (Dec 05, 2005)
It seems every launch has a great racing game and Project Gotham Racing 3 fills that role nicely for the 360. Frankly, there’s not much missing here and it highlights many of the strengths of the 360. If you not familiar with the Project Gotham Racing series, it thrives on semi-realistic street racing, close attention to graphic detail, and plenty of features to keep you busy for some time. Project Gotham Racing 3 brings all that back, refines it further and adds new depth and functionality that makes this a must have launch game.
Gamer 2.0 (Nov 29, 2005)
Project Gotham Racing 3 definitely packs a lot of value into a relatively small package. Though the single player Career may be a bit short for some people, the robust multiplayer component more than makes up for it. If you only buy one racing game for the launch of the Xbox 360, PGR3 should be your choice.
Gamers' Temple, The (2005)
If you are the least bit interested in racing games, then you owe it to yourself to check out PGR3. It is an excellent first ride into the world of next-gen racing.
TalkXbox (Nov 26, 2005)
Project Gotham Racing 3 takes the concepts of PGR2 and gives it a slick new presentation, as well as some intriguing Live features. The core game here is precisely the same as it was in Project Gotham Racing 2 on the Xbox, but the addition of more Live functionality improves the game considerably. The graphics are utterly gorgeous, as well. For the offline gamers out there, though, there just isn't much here. If you don't have Live, you'll want to take a rain check on this title. If you want a great Live game, you’ll definitely want to pick up Project Gotham Racing 3.
Video Games Daily (Dec 01, 2005)
You'll be hard pushed to find a more complete, versatile and impressive racing experience on any other console. PGR3 maintains the well-tuned, in-depth gameplay from previous installments and adds jaw-dropping graphics, excellent course design, and replay value in abundance. It's essential.
GamingHeaven / DriverHeaven (Jan 26, 2006)
In conclusion, Project Gotham Racing 3 for the Xbox 360 is a fantastic racing title that is undoubtedly worthy of a purchase. Between the variety of available cars, assortment of game modes, and the absolutely stunning audio visual presentation, it’s nice to see that the gameplay hasn’t suffered at all, although at the same time the gameplay hasn’t evolved a great deal since PGR2.
Kombo.com (Dec 02, 2005)
There are three racing titles out for the the 360's launch, and Project Gotham Racing 3 does well enough to distinguish it from the other two. It's built from the ground up to utilize the hardware and Xbox Live service, and it looks and offers an online experience much better than any racing title before it. Unfortunately, the game may not be the favorite of many gamers at first due to the extremely particular simulation-style gameplay. For fans of the genre, there'll likely be no game you'll enjoy as much as this one for quite some time. For gamers who prefer a more straightforward racer, the gorgeous graphics may just serve as the gateway to the eventually inviting gameplay. Either way, PGR3 deserves a look.
Cheat Code Central (Nov 21, 2005)
Bizarre Creations is hoping to own the Xbox 360 launch much in the same way they did four years ago during the original Xbox launch. Their first entry on the Xbox 360 will be snapped up by fever-pitched racing fans who have spent the better part of 2 years honing their skills on PGR2. But is PGR3 deserving of a "buy it before you try it" game?
Play.tm (Dec 19, 2005)
Simply put, PGR3 is just about the most involving and exciting arcade-sim racing experience yet. Its amazing graphics and sound show off the true power of the Xbox 360. So is it perfect? Not quite. The one problem with PGR3 is the length of its single player Gotham Career. While online it has endless potential, players without Xbox Live may feel the 90 events in the Gotham Career don't last quite as long as they might want, especially compared the 172 single player events in PGR2. However the 5 difficulty levels give the game extra lifespan and you will want to do your very best to unlock the achievement badges. Despite its one major shortcoming PGR3 is easily the best racing game, nay any genre, in the Xbox 360 launch range. A 'must buy' game for any early Xbox 360 player.
Game Shark (Dec 16, 2005)
No, Project Gotham Racing 3 doesn’t have a lot added to the gameplay department beyond what was in the Project Gotham Racing 2 game that came out a scant two years ago for the Xbox, but it did beef up the Live support, pump up the visuals and made the actual sensation of driving that much better. The lack of gameplay innovation in the series keeps it from soaring into the stratosphere, but for shear driving fun, Project Gotham Racing delivers.
Gaming Age (Nov 28, 2005)
The launch of every new console needs a good racing/driving title, if only to show off the technical abilities of said platform. The Xbox 360 is blessed with at least two, one being Project Gotham Racing 3. From the stunning near photo-realistic visuals, to the innovative Gotham TV feature, PGR3 is everything you could ask for from a launch title.
Edge (Nov 24, 2005)
PGR3 hasn't moved from its niche, not at all - at its core, it's still pure PGR, a savvy and standalone mixture of real form and hyper-real function - but it's been transformed into a wondrous and rewarding beauty spot. It's no contender for the thrones occupied by OutRun 2, Gran Turismo or Ridge Racer, just the true heir to its own. It further closes the gaps between player, pad, console and TV by offering something so luxuriously pliant and gratifying for all standards of player, and sits comfortably among the advantages of high-definition gaming, as was likely to be expected from such a series. But that's not to rob Bizarre Creations of its entitlement to this achievement, in producing one of the most accessibly intense and outstanding racing experiences ever to be had, and felt.
Fragland.net (Nov 23, 2005)
Project Gotham Racing 3 for the Xbox360 is here and we will have known it. The feeling of speed and the level of empathy with the in-car view creates an adrenaline rush and is unseen, the visuals, surroundings and cars in high definition are to lick your fingers and the sound is simply realistically raw. Too bad the solo-mode is a bit too short - something people without Xbox Live will be disappointed about - and are the loading times just a bit too long to talk about a true racing revolution. Nonetheless this game is very promising for what will be possible in the future on the Xbox360 and a must-have if you like racing games and are planning to buy Microsoft's next-gen console.
Console Monster (Dec 03, 2005)
All-in-all PGR3 is amazing. I could bash on about how graphically stunning the game is, the superb tracks (including Nurburgring, you know, the massive 10-minute long track from Gran Turismo 4!), the massive LIVE playability, the awesome attention to detail and even the different modes, but let’s be honest – we all have lives. And besides, I’d rather go back to playing it! Let me put it simply for you all: PGR3 is a must have launch title!
videogamer.com (Dec 06, 2005)
I haven't even talked about the route creator that lets you race online with friends on the tracks you've created, or the in-car view that has to be seen to be believed, or how there's a crowd around the track that reacts as you smash into barriers. I could have moaned about the relatively poor work that's gone into making crashes look realistic (hit a wall head on and you'll just stop, nothing more) or how there's still no penalty for smashing into other drivers (other than losing your Kudos multiplier), but it would have been trivial. Project Gotham Racing 3 is a stunning game and a truly next-gen package. The fact that there will be better to come is very exciting indeed.
Boomtown (Dec 07, 2005)
So there we have it, PGR3 is great fun, gorgeous to look at and hoot to play online. It's not perfect, not by any means, the limited cities and some limited on replays do take a little of the lustre away, but on the whole this is a very strong game. The much vaunted Gotham TV is fun, but more welcome is being able to save your replays when playing with friends rather than watching strangers. PGR3 is a game that Xbox Live players will still have in their drives when a sequel arrives and in the meantime, if Bizarre sensibly adds to the size of the cities via downloadable content, the game will inch towards perfection. Yes, having played the game I'm still just as excited about PGR3.
MS Xbox World (Dec 12, 2005)
If you are a racing-nut then I highly recommend this game, it has everything; superb gameplay, spectacular graphics, fantastic sound and to top it all off, the usual but addictive Xbox Live play. If you like you’re racing games and were hooked on PGR2 for months on end, then expect similar results here. This really is as good as it gets.
Bordersdown (Dec, 2005)
Aside from a couple of niggles, the whole package in PGR3 is very well put together and tightly integrated with Live. There are lots of nice touches such as the ticker-tape scroller announcing when someone has broken into the top-ten of the premier league, and there are so many lush cars to collect and lust after. There are numerous different leagues to conquer in both online and offline play: in short, PGR3 is well polished. It’s a shining example of how the arcade-racing genre should be done, and it is an essential purchase for all gear heads with an Xbox360. In fact you probably already own it.
Project Gotham Racing is undeniably the cream of the crop when it comes to racing games. It always has been and it always will be - on the Xbox, Xbox 360 or any other future platforms - and Project Gotham Racing 3 is truly a testament to this. Its unparalleled presentation, pleasing accessibility to players of all skill levels and the exhilarating rush of careening through some of the most famous and awe-inspiring real-life locations - incidentally in some of the fastest and most awe-inspiring real-life vehicles - all add up to make PGR3 one of the must-have titles on the Xbox 360, despite its minor (almost to the point of being irrelevant) shortcomings, which are few and far between anyway. If you own Microsoft's super-console, you owe it to yourself to buy and play this game. And if you don't own it, then you'd better start scraping £325 together. Believe me, it'll be money well spent!
Silicon-Fusion.com (Jan 11, 2006)
Overall Project Gotham Raicng 3 shows us all what Microsoft’s new console can achieve, and while the gameplay might not have evolved as much as we might have hoped, this is next-generation racing – now.
Darkstation (Nov 14, 2005)
In the end, Project Gotham Racing 3 is just a downright beautiful game that plays just as well as it looks. PGR3 is going to be a game that really pleases the previous fans of the series, and maybe even those who bought a 360 but haven’t had a chance to enjoy one of these games. If you are in either of these two boats, then I would highly recommend going for a ride in PGR3. It is definitely worth a shot with the solid and challenging gameplay and extreme visuals, this is one of the best games on the 360 launch lineup.
Thunderbolt Games (Mar 13, 2006)
If I went into any more detail, I’d be sitting in your lap with the controller pointing out what is simply great about this game, which is everything. The pick-up-and-play gameplay appeals to newcomers and veterans alike, with insane speeds and ample opportunities to pull of stylish moves, whereas the detail of the numerous cars and courses is just astounding. The original Xbox had Halo to knock the socks off gamers with fun gameplay and ground-breaking graphics, and although Project Gotham 3 is a sequel rather than an entirely new idea, it really shows off the early capabilities more than any other title available for the 360. If you own Microsoft’s powerful little minx, this simply has to be your first port of call, no questions asked.
NZGamer (Mar 20, 2006)
Project Gotham Racing 3 is an excellent racing title that pretty much lived up to the hype. The game sits up there as one of the best looking titles on the 360, but unlike games like Quake 4, PGR3 also provides solid gameplay. If you don't have Xbox Live, the game may seem a little lacking, but the Xbox 360 really is all about Live anyway, so if you don't have it yet, get out there and buy it. Racing fan or not, if you're looking for a game that will keep you entertained for quite some time, PGR3 is it. I went in expecting the world but only got the wealthiest country - but that's the kind of silver medal you can still be proud of.
Gamestyle (May 07, 2006)
Longish load times aside, Project Gotham Racing 3 strikes an excellent balance between arcade and sim gameplay without alienating fans of either, and everyone - from Sunday drivers to Autobahn veterans - will find something to love here. Whether it truly earns the moniker of "next-generation" remains open to debate, but it's an enjoyable experience and a near-faultless one at that.
Wonderwallweb.com (May 04, 2007)
This game is a great overall package and bodes well for the future of the 360 and Live. It will keep you going for a very long time and due to the Live features it will keep on luring you back for just one more race.
XBox Evolved (Nov 19, 2005)
Project Gotham Racing 3 is a highly addictive game that any racing fan has to have if they are buying an Xbox 360. It is the perfect blend of style, substance, visuals, and sound you will find on any system. It is a testament that Xbox 360 really is starting the next-generation of gaming, but you will blow through the game very quickly, it is a bit on the easy side sometimes, and without HDTV you can’t truly experience it. Also it seems to rely heavily on the fact that you have Xbox Live. Still, if you are looking for photorealism, and a great overall game, this is a must have.
GamersReports (Nov 25, 2005)
In summation, we can say this game is a sure fire winner for the Xbox360 system. You will enjoy this game even if you are not a fan of the Project Gotham series, and if you are a fan, you will take to this game as if you are sliding into a comfortable old pair of shoes. The game could definitely have taken advantage of the graphical power of the Xbox360 a bit more, and it doesn’t exactly feel like you are playing a next-gen game, but that does not mean that it is not a great game worth owning.
PTGamers (Nov 25, 2005)
Operation Sports (Jan 25, 2006)
To put it simply: Project Gotham Racing 3 is a perfectly balanced arcade racer. It's lovingly crafted, exciting as all get-out, and looks like nothing you've ever played before. Its challenges can be nearly endless, and the spectacular Xbox Live integration assures that PGR3 will have a long, enjoyable stay in your gaming rotation. If you own an Xbox 360 - then you should own Project Gotham Racing 3. Next-generation racing has truly arrived.
Voodoo Extreme (VE3D) (Feb 01, 2006)
PGR 3 might not be the most innovative racing game ever (it's more like PGR 2.5) but it does boast the best graphics I've ever seen. Combined with rockin Live! multiplayer support and heaps of replay value, Project Gotham Racing 3 is something I proudly park in my 360 garage.
PlayDevil (Mar 09, 2006)
Being one of the very first launch titles for Microsofts' new console, the Xbox 360, "Project Gotham Racing 3" offers everything that you need to play solid and challenging. The addition of GothamTV is a great new online mode and like always, PGR 3 boosts real-time environments! The graphics are top-notch, so is the soundtrack and its effects. There are so many cars out there for you to race with and the tracks are amazing! A solid race title with plenty of 'online' play!
Totally Gaming Network (Jan 12, 2006)
While those niggles do distract from the gameplay as I said, they don't ruin the experience. Overall PGR3 excels visually; at times photorealism is the order of the day. The gameplay is also top of the line, with the undisputed online racer seeing a return to form, something that only enhances the longevity of the game.
Giery.eu (Mar 02, 2007)
Podsumowując- „Enjoy to play and waitin’ for PGR4”.
Finalboss (Feb 08, 2006)
DreamStation.cc (Feb 20, 2006)
Project Gotham Racing 3 is truly a showcase of what the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live has to offer. It has a decent offline mode with different challenges, but some of these challenges are more exciting than others. I would've liked to have seen more races than pylon and speed challenges, but that might be just me. Online mode is where Project Gotham Racing 3 really shines and if you are into online racing then look no further than PGR3 on Xbox 360. The graphics and sound effects are great and the music and controls are decent, but could use little more tuning. The music can easily be fixed by playing your own custom soundtrack and the controls you will get use to, so just give them some time. All-in-all, Project Gotham Racing 3 is a solid racing game that is a showcase for what the Xbox 360 can do. The scary thing is that this a launch title, so what should we expect a year or two from now from racing games on Xbox 360?

Now that's some goooood lookin' driving game right there. For me, Project Gotham Racing 3 is the best of 360's launch titles; it grafts the series' appealing mix of sorta realistic (much more so than Ridge Racer) but still forgiving (much more so than Forza) handling to some of the most impressive graphics I've ever seen on a console.
Yahoo! Games (Nov 22, 2005)
Microsoft's massively popular racing series hits the company's next generation console, showing off exactly what the new system has to offer.
GameZone (Nov 28, 2005)
One of the most splendidly enjoyable racing games out there, Project Gotham Racing 3 is an Xbox 360 launch title you won’t want to miss if you’re a fan of the genre
GameSpy (Nov 23, 2005)
It's only been out a few days, but already there's a ripe online community blasting through the circuits of Project Gotham 3. If you're looking for a deep racing Sim with a community of opponents ready to go 24 hours a day, this is your game. It's easy on the eyes and a blast to play -- Gotham is among the best that the new 360 platform has to offer.
Da Gameboyz (2005)
I would have to say that PGR3 is definitely a buyer for those picking up a spankin' brand new 360. Even with the minor shortcomings they don't really outweigh the great graphics, great sound and overall great gameplay that this title provides. Add to all of this an online mode that provides an excellent racing experience and you have a launch title that should be added to your 360 gaming library. The future really does look bright for Microsoft's new console, as does the future of the PGR series.
XboxZone (Australia) (Mar 04, 2007)
So there we have it. PGR3 is at times a very different beast from its predecessors with its select car list whilst at the same time keeping the core of the series alive with the Kudos system and driving with style ethos firmly intact. As a launch day game this is a winner, small niggling issues aside, this is firmly a next generation title and spending one race from the in-car view re-affirms this more than any other facet of the game. At the end of the day Bizarre Creations have delivered on the promise of everything we have seen of the game up until now and this is without a doubt the best racing title on the Xbox 360 platform so far. Great stuff…
Planet Xbox 360 (Feb 26, 2006)
PGR3 may not have changed the winning formula but it’s hard to fault a title that stays true to such a successful recipe. A few minor problems keep the title from reaching perfection, most notably the availability of only 4 cities to choose from, but nothing that really hampers gameplay. The complete graphical overhaul and just plain magnificent presentation goes a long way to making this a compelling next-gen experience Add in the refined game-play and killer additions to Xbox live, especially Gotham TV, and you’ve got one of the best launch titles, and a must buy for any fan of racing games.
Computer Bild Spiele (Jun 06, 2007)
Daily Game (Jan 15, 2006)
It seems like a console now needs to ship with all its genre bases covered: shooter, racer, platformer, fighter, etc. Microsoft's Xbox 360 was no exception, with all but the role-playing genre covered from the get-go. Although many gamers would've liked to see the "shooter" category grounded by Halo 3, much like Halo 1 filled the original Xbox's shooter hole, Microsoft instead repeated history only in the racing category with Project Gotham Racing 3.
GamersHell.com (Dec 05, 2005)
The developers at Bizarre Creations had a smash hit with the Project Gotham Racing series on the Xbox, and now they’re back with their third installment, debuting on the Xbox 360. In Project Gotham Racing 3, the world’s fastest super cars can be driven throughout various picturesque locations across the globe. Combining high speed bumper-to-bumper action with arcade-style drift physics, PGR3 is a great title to satisfy any next-generation gamer’s need for speed.
IGN (Nov 15, 2005)
Just a few short years ago Microsoft and Bizarre Creations started the niche racing game Metropolis Street Racer and branded a new franchise from its Dreamcast ashes with Project Gotham Racing. Forming a game around style points felt a little like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, but the crowds grew because the system was built upon a fun premise of driving well and trying to pull off moves that formed combos. With Project Gotham Racing 2 came improved graphics, performance, greater accessibility, and with the most impressive trait, its vast online component, PGR2 landed on an Xbox shelf in gamers' game library. Even with a handful of Need For Speeds, two Midnight Clubs, and a Forza Motorsport, dedicated Xbox fans say one of their favorite games on the system -- that they still play online today -- is PGR2.
GameSpot (Nov 18, 2005)
With the launch of every new gaming console, certain titles define the technological capacity of that platform and usher in the next generation in style. For the Nintendo 64, it was Mario 64; for the original Xbox, it was Halo. Just days before the launch of the Xbox 360, we have a new candidate for that honor: Bizarre Creations' Project Gotham Racing 3, a gripping and intense racing game that is a welcome addition to the 360's launch lineup.
GamingExcellence (Dec 23, 2005)
In the end, what PGR3 really improves over PGR2 is simply its looks and its incredible in-car camera. There was nothing wrong with the core gameplay of PGR2 and thankfully, PGR3 doesn’t tinker with it much. This iteration is also a much more accessible game than PGR2 and will please more casual fans with its varied difficulty levels, cars, tracks, looks and challenges. While the solo campaign isn’t as long as PGR2’s, the bulk of my time with either game has been spent playing online and among the launch titles, PGR3 is hands-down the best online multiplayer game for the masses. A stellar game that is easy to recommend without reservation, it just may not be the upgrade that PGR2 fans expect.
Game Chronicles (Dec 29, 2005)
Project Gotham Racing 3 isn’t as next-gen as the hardware you are playing it on, but it is nonetheless a solid and serious racing game and a definite improvement over PGR2. With more racing modes, rewards, cars, tracks, and online options than ever before, this is the ultimate evolution of the PGR franchise, and I can’t wait to see where it all goes next year.
Game Freaks 365 (2005)
This is a must-have for Xbox 360 owners. For a launch title on a brand new console they have done one exceptional job. Spending the $50 on this game will not disappoint you to any extent. I must say that Bizarre has once again fulfilled many gamers' dreams of racing. You can play the game once and beat it, but play it again on the same settings and you will still be playing an entirely new event. Increase your difficulty setting and once again be challenged to test every skill you thought you had.
Game Informer Magazine (Jan, 2006)
While PGR 3 wavers back and forth between schools of thought, it is a solid and fun, if not deep or terribly rewarding, racer - one that ably promotes beauty over brains. While I've been wrestling over how to describe it, players should feel confident in its high-quality execution.
Gamezine (Nov 30, 2005)
Armchair Empire, The (Jan 16, 2006)
As a launch title, Project Gotham Racing 3 does the 360 system proud with its good looks and competent racing thrills. If you're a racing fan, Project Gotham Racing 3 comes with a slap-on-the-back recommendation even if the solo career is rather weak.
Game Revolution (Nov 22, 2005)
Project Gotham Racing 3 initially stirred up a lot of hype when some screenshots of the streets of New York were released that looked so real, many claimed they had been faked. That turned out to be false, as Bizarre Creations simply went to great lengths to photograph and recreate portions of several cities. It provided a glimpse into the awesome power of the 360 and helped thrust this racer in the launch lineup spotlight.
UGO (UnderGroundOnline) (Dec 14, 2005)
We're now in the post-Burnout 3 age of the racing genre. Developers everywhere are trying to come up with unique features for their racing games, and Bizarre Creations' debut title for the Xbox 360 is no exception. Project Gotham Racing 3 includes not only the unique advancement system that is only found in this series - "Kudos" - but it also has a few other extras that really make the game shine.
X-Power (Dec 25, 2005)
TTGamer (Mar 25, 2006)
Project Gotham Racing 3 may be one of the first racing games on the Xbox 360 and it sure won't be the last, but it does manage to impress. It does have a sense of familiarity about it and the developers could have been a little more original and innovative but to deliver a game so complete, which such good graphics and so playable for launch was a feat in itself. The best racing game on the Xbox 360 so far, but then, it doesn't have that much competition.
TotalVideoGames (TVG) (Dec 01, 2005)
For fans of the series, PGR3 is one of the key highlights to the Xbox 360 launch thanks to its stunning visuals and continued refinement of the format. Wandering around the garages is even more of a pleasure to do than in PGR2 with the lighting and reflections working together to lift the cars closer to reality. Very much a sequel rather than a revolutionary instalment to the series, PGR3 will delight those lucky few Xbox 360 owners.
GamerDad (Jan 08, 2006)
Anyone with even a mild interest in racing games and with a 360 in their entertainment center should pick up Project Gotham Racing 3. Build up a Friends list online and shoot for their records. Hop on Live Gold and put your skills to the test against people the world over. There are some questionable decisions in the course designs but you can rectify that yourself because there's a whole course editor included too. It's clear that there are still a lot of things that can be done to make this series better, but this one is definitely good enough to hold anyone over for a few months while that after-launch slow period unfolds.
GameCell UK (2005)
However until the issues are fixed, I really don’t think the game have the lifespan of two years that PGR2 did before it. So yes, Project Gotham Racing 3 is a great game, but it’s not the game that PGR2 was two years ago. It’s moved sideways instead of moving forward, and that's not quite what I had in mind for a next generation version of my favourite Xbox game.
Video Game Talk (Jan 18, 2006)
Project Gotham Racing 3 provides a lot of racing bang for your buck. The modes here will keep you entertained for a long time and the gameplay is just as good as ever. That's the biggest issue with the slightly lower score because the game really plays like an expansion for the second PGR instead of an actual sequel. Visually and audibly the game is undoubtedly stepping towards the next generation quality that we were all looking for. If you love racers and are looking for something to sink your teeth into with your new 360, you can't go wrong dropping the cash for this game. Highly Recommended
GotNext (Dec 16, 2005)
It's hard to really recommend this title to single-player* racing fans because it often takes longer to load into and out of an event then the event itself takes. Even restarting a race requires sitting through an "almost too long" loading screen. Once you're actually behind the wheel there's no other racing game pure and fun, but be prepared to work to get there.
EL33TONLINE (May 10, 2007)
PGR is a quality racer which differentiates itself from other racing games enough for me to recommend it highly. I can’t see it being made obsolete by any game on the 360 except perhaps PGR4. It is a must-have title for any racing fan with the 360, and one very good reason to own the console itself.

G4 TV: X-Play (Nov 21, 2005)
There are several racers competing for your Xbox 360 launch day buck, but only one of them demands style along with skill. Project Gotham Racing 3 continues Bizarre Creations’ trademark series in which you don’t truly win unless you look good doing it.
PAL Gaming Network (PALGN) (Mar 22, 2006)
Bizarre Creations are no strangers to developing titles in time for launch. The original Project Gotham Racing title was a launch title for the original Xbox. The semi-realistic racing series combines fast cars with a combo system that encourages drivers to stick to the road. A few years ago Bizarre Creations followed up the original PGR with a successor that had an in-depth live component, better graphics and a longer solo experience. Even though there are a lot of racing titles on the Xbox Project Gotham Racing 2 is still a favourite online, so it is no surprise Project Gotham Racing 3 is right there for the launch of the Xbox 360.
Eurogamer.net (UK) (Nov 22, 2005)
I used to live down a road that curved left, banana-like round to my house at the end. To get onto it you had to do a 90-degree right turn. What I used to do when I drove in was lock the steering hard right to enter, and then see how far I could get up the road as the steering wheel unravelled itself before the indicator registered the straightening and clicked off. Until it did that, it sounded like Kudos-clicking. That's about as close as I've ever come to PGR in real life.
GamePro (US) (Nov 18, 2005)
If you're like any other gamer closely eyeing the latest developments on the Xbox 360, the photorealistic screenshots of Project Gotham Racing 3 surely caught your eye. And racing junkies will be glad to know it mostly delivers on those visually decadent promises--but it's by no means a timeless classic.
The Video Game Critic (Apr 01, 2006)
A four-player split screen mode is available, but switching between user profiles is a complete fiasco. You actually need to backtrack all the way to the top menu to switch profile, which is insane when you have to navigate about eight screens just to start a freakin' race! Still, if you're in the market for a racer with real cars and actual locations, PG3 is a quality title.
Entertainment Depot, The (Feb 20, 2006)
Project Gotham Racing 3 is, despite its niche approach, a solid racing title. The single player experience could have used a bit more oomph, but for those who prefer online play or make frequent use of it, the game will be in your system for a while. My recommendation is to get a custom playlist ready and prepare to become familiar with the same handful of cars, regardless of whether or not you would prefer to use one of the other super expensive dream cars.
Diehard GameFan (Dec 04, 2005)
While this game is not the best racing game I’ve ever played, it’s one of the best. This game is definitely the eye candy game of the 360 launch, and probably one of the best of the bunch overall. And while I grew bored of the game after a while, if you were a fan of PGR2, chances are you’ll enjoy this one just as much if not more. Still, I’d recommend a rental to anyone just to make sure, but it is a very fun game for a while.
Factornews (Dec 07, 2005)
GamersMark (Dec 27, 2005)
Project Gotham Racing 3 isn’t the sequel fans should’ve been expecting. All it is a better looking version of PGR2 with some new tracks and a new soundtrack. The game isn’t very fun and its online career mode isn’t too enjoyable due to unavoidable encounters of careless racers. The game is only for those gamers who care more about graphics than gameplay itself. For those gamers it may be worthwhile, but for others there are two better racers to pick up for the Xbox 360 and they are Ridge Racer 6 and Need for Speed Most Wanted. Don’t fall victim to the hype.
But while the graphics are stunning and the sense of speed is frankly terrifying, PGR3 doesn’t offer any gameplay leaps when compared to its illustrious Xbox predecessors, and there’s nothing here to make you feel as if you’re playing the world’s most powerful console.
