I think the best part of the rise of downloadable services like Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network is the fact that it allows for smaller games that might not be able to make a huge impact with a full-fledged retail release to still find a paying audience. TNT Racers is just such a game. It’s not quite ready for prime time, and it’s maybe a bit too derivative and generic to really stand out, but it’s bright, colorful, easy to learn and fun to play. And for $10 (or 800 Microsoft Points), it has a lot of content for a small price, which makes this game fairly easy to recommend, even if it’s not the most original game on Xbox Live Arcade.

Ideally you'd want to play multiplayer, of course, but the lack of any discernible online community makes that a fairly distant prospect right now. More likely, the game will work best in local multiplayer with four players battling their way to supremacy on the sofa. As a homage to past glories, Keen Games has done an admirable job. All you need is a Friday night, some old friends, gallons of beer and a gigantic pizza and the past is yours.

TNT Racers is a quirky little game. It has very friendly gameplay and some nice weapons to play around with. However, the bulk of the game isn't very long and once you finish off the challenges, you'll be left wondering what to really do with the game. The gameplay is fun, but playing against the AI repeatedly gets pretty boring and playing online isn't much better.

Although TNT Racers can be accurately categorized as an arcade racer in the mold of classics like Micro Machines, it is not a cheap rip-off. Zippy cars, challenging tracks, tough AI opposition, and a lengthy list of cool power-ups make it a catchy racing game with just enough of its own personality to keep you coming back for more.

I’m sure this game is fun on the PSP but it didn’t really have anything special about that stood out to me playing it on the Xbox 360. It is just a kart racing game that we have seen so many like it before that I don’t think it’s worth the $10.00 however if it was $5.00 I think it would be the perfect deal if this kind of game is what you are looking for.
Game Shark (Mar 04, 2011)
As you play through the time trials, the main tournament mode, and the online multiplayer, it quickly becomes apparent that without the main allure of simple race modes, TNT Racers rapidly drives itself into a rut. It doesn't have that oomph, that instant gratification that only repeated races and trying to improve your score does. In that respect I just can't bring myself to recommend this quirky little racer, even if it is unique for its platform. There isn't enough here for repeated play sessions, as it will wear thin on your patience quicker than you'll spin out when trying to get the hang of its more confusing vehicle controls. I'd like to see a successful little kart racer on the XBLA, but unfortunately, this just isn't it.
