Totally Gaming Network (Dec 20, 2006)
In closing out Rainbow Six: Vegas really is a superb game to play from all angles, providing excitement and good fun to be had by all. I would even go to say that RS: V is a better overall package of a game when compared to Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and if you have not purchased RS: V yet… then it really is about bloody time you did.

Since Ubisoft brilliantly recreated the Ghost Recon experience with GRAW, my expectations as an avid Rainbow Sixer for the series’ first Xbox 360 title were sky high. After seeing the gorgeously rendered Vegas strip from a helicopter, rappelling through casino windows with guns blazing, and exchanging lead volleys across a row of slot machines, it’s hard to say that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas didn’t match or exceed all of those expectations.

IGN (Nov 16, 2006)
In total, Rainbow Six: Vegas is the best first-person shooter on the Xbox 360. Viva Las Vegas indeed.

After a shocking descent into mediocrity following the third iteration in the franchise, Ubisoft Montreal has successfully breathed new life into the Rainbow Six franchise with Rainbow Six Vegas – a game that could essentially be considered the next-gen reincarnation of the much beloved Rainbow Six 3. The single-player campaign is the best of any Rainbow Six title, and the ability to play through it with four friends only sweetens the experience. Furthermore, the addition of an elegant new over system has completely changed the face of tactical combat, while the streamlined squad-mechanics are accessible enough to bring in new players, while still providing more than enough depth to allow veterans to dominate the battlefield. A wealth of addictive multiplayer modes that force players to think tactically and coordinate their maneuvers ensure that Rainbow Six Vegas will sit close to the top of the Xbox Live charts for quite some time.
GameSpot (Nov 21, 2006)
Rainbow Six Vegas breaks the rules for the series and rewrites them for a new age, which is fitting, as this is the first Rainbow Six game for the Xbox 360. And thankfully, Rainbow Six Vegas ignores the city's official motto; if everything that happened in Vegas stayed in Vegas, then we might have been deprived of this excellent, immersive tactical shooter.
ActionTrip (Dec 12, 2006)
Overall, there is very little wrong with this game. If there is one 'problem' it could be the learning curve for new player. Veterans of the Rainbow Six series should have no problem getting into the swing of things but newcomers to the series might be turned off from the moderate learning curve. From the great single player campaign the wide variety of multiplayer options, you should find every dollar you spend on this game well worth it, and then some. This is the best Rainbow Six game ever made. On top of that, this is one of the best 360 games to date. Only problem I see, where do you take the series after it's been to Vegas?
Games TM (Oct, 2006)
Niggling comments aside, Rainbow Six Vegas is a breath-taking return to form after questions over Ubisoft's commitment to the series were raised after Lockdown 's release last year. Intelligent inclusions such as Target Prioritising, VIP commands ('Hold' or 'Follow') and Sam Fisher's Snake Cam add further flamboyance to an exceptional tactical-action shooter wrapped up in the delicious Unreal Engine. It's Rainbow. It's back. It's a must have.
Games TM (Nov, 2006)
[Online review] While les visually next gen in online appearance, Rainbow Six Vegas is a thoroughly entertaining game offering the best modes of the series, a healthy selection of maps - Ubisoft will officially confirm downloadable content next year - and a great community of players. The bitter memory of Lockdown has been firmly banished.
games xtreme (Dec 05, 2006)
Vegas is a good game, it’s certainly the best console iteration of the Rainbow series to date and it sets a bench mark for tactical cover that even Gears of War failed to do. This is (pay attention Gears fanboys – ME included) how cover should have been done in the game. The control system is tight and the AI is top notch, you can blast the story apart in a couple of days of good play and it’s not particularly great storytelling. It rapidly dips into the go there, blow these guys up, rescue these people and save the day scenario. But frankly, when you’re having as much fun as this you don’t care. The same can be said again about the cut-down MP graphics for split and online play, you don’t really pay attention to those things when there are smoke grenades, c4 and frags as well as 15 other players attempting to outflank you and out shoot you at every turn.

Thunderbolt Games (Sep 24, 2007)
While Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas isn’t the most novice-friendly game, once you get past the steep learning curve, you’ll discover one of the finest action games currently available. With sublime gameplay, smart A.I., slick presentation and a fully featured online mode to keep you playing, it’s hard to pass up. Now a ‘classic’ title at a reduced price, this is an essential purchase for any action fan.
Defunct Games (Jan 23, 2007)
Although this is the third Tom Clancy game on the Xbox 360 this year, Rainbow Six Vegas proves to be the best. This is easily one of the best games of the year, a title full of action, unique locations and plenty of terrorists to kill.
Daily Game (Jan 21, 2007)
Ubisoft clearly listened to gamers' disappointment in Lockdown, upping the ante and delivering the best game in the franchise. The story is compelling, the additional gameplay mechanics and improved AI are great, and Attack and Defend mode is certainly something to be proud. But most importantly to gamers: Rainbow Six Vegas is pure fun.

Armchair Empire, The (Jan 03, 2006)
While Rainbow Six Vegas won’t necessarily hit the jackpot for everyone, it has enough going for it, as detailed above, that I’d recommend it to any shooter or action fan.
82 (Feb 28, 2007)
The controls are simple, the graphics pretty, and the game fluffy enough to forgive its essential repetitiveness. The pretences of tactical play break down in the available online multiplayer modes, where running around becomes the order of the day once again, but single player is where the heart of the game lies.
80 (UK) (Nov 30, 2006)
Rainbow Six Vegas is unquestionably an excellent - and very welcome - return to form for the series. It's a crafted, well-rounded package that nails all the fundamentals of what a squad-based shooter should be about, with fantastic controls and great AI making it a consistent pleasure to chip through the campaign. Online - with the right players - it has the potential to be even better, especially in the collaborative modes. To really catapult it into the very highest bracket, Ubisoft still needs to work on a more compelling premise and improve on some of the production values, but otherwise Vegas represents one of the best shooters on the market and deserves to succeed.
Factornews (Dec 15, 2006)
80 (May 25, 2007)
GotNext (Jan 05, 2007)
Those who love big action in their single-player shooters won't find it in a game that pushes making split-second tactical decisions over and over. Yet, gamers who enjoy playing online will find nothing but gold between customizable avatars and numerous game modes. Depending on your play style, this is where Rainbow Six Vegas will either bust or take home the jackpot.
Extreme Gamer (Dec 20, 2006)
Rainbow Six Vegas turns back the page and makes up for the black sheep of the series from last year, Rainbow Six Lockdown. Although, I'm still a fan the older, broken up styled gameplay, Rainbow Six Vegas tries to capitalize on G.R.A.W.'s success and made Vegas a continues mission. This sucks a little life out of Rainbows epic and international feeling, but it does make for a more concentrated storyline. Besides favoritism towards the Raven Shield, Rainbow Six Vegas has a host of new features and an updated team structure that all are welcomed changes. Include some amazing fun multiplayer with co-op added and Rainbow Six Vegas becomes a game that is hard to resist. Rainbow Six Vegas is sure to be a favorite for a lot of gamers for months to come. I highly recommend Rainbow Six Vegas for any gamer who loves to get behind the gun for the sheer joy of wasting some tango's. Rainbow Six Vegas might not be the crown jewel of the series, but it's still one of the year's best shooters.
Gameslave UK (Dec 19, 2006)
All in all, Rainbow Six: Vegas, despite some AI issues in places, offers some of the best single-player gaming currently on the Xbox 360. At turns thrilling and ultra-cool, double-tapping hostiles in the head while dangling upside down from a rope is as satisfying as you'd imagine it to be. While the multi-player side of the game is fully-fledged and has a nice rank system, the community I experienced was absolutely dire. With only 10% of my games fun, I'd be wary of online games unless you can put up with more than I. Despite this, if you're a fan of military themed shooters, you should definitely pick up Vegas.
Ubisoft Montreal packed every square inch of Rainbow Six Vegas full of exciting and explosive content. Gone are the days of 10-20 minute long strategic planning sessions as consistently intense action has taken it's place. Gone are the muddy and bland textures and in are the bright and expansive sights of Vegas. Gone is the lack of storyline and in is...Well, at least an attempt at a plot. Which is smartly told in-game, and not broken up through cut scenes. I won't go into much detail, but it's safe to say that the plot includes political turmoil, twists, and, of course, terrorism (although how they snuck thousands of terrorists with unlimited ammunition into Las Vegas was oddly left out). Needless to say, it's your typical Tom Clancy storyline, but, unless I'm mistaken, people don't buy Tom Clancy games to become emotionally engaged in the story, so I won't waste any more time on it.
Bit-Tech (Dec 15, 2006)
All in all, though, the game is good fun and is certainly worth a play if you’re a shooter fan. It’s a big step up from the recent Rainbow Six releases (I thought that the franchise would be ended after their poor performances). If you’re going to invest in one shooter then go for Gears of War, but if you need something else then definitely give Vegas a look.
PlayDevil (Jan 11, 2007)
Rainbow Six: Vegas is not as bad as 'Lockdown', but it is hardly a return to form. The single player is pretty terrible, following the same generic pattern throughout... a quiet few rooms, massive shootout, checkpoint, ad nauseum. It is frustrating and unrealistic in many aspects. The multiplayer is no better. Even after the patch, it is plagued by glitches, boosters and hosts who kick you unrepentantly. What is worse is the fact that the experience is incredibly un-tactical. "Gears of War", a way more arcadey game, provides a far more tactical experience. Ghost Recon, for all its flaws, remains a far better bet for anyone wanting a tactical shooter. Here at PlayDevil we are not sure we're reviewing the same game that others did, but Vegas for us has been a frustrating experience, even after the patch that has been released. It looks and sounds great, and offers moments of real promise, but the annoyances and glitches stop it scoring higher.
The Video Game Critic (Feb 10, 2009)
The single-player mode is playable enough - if you're up for the challenge. I like how an objective marker always points the way, and displays the distance to your target in meters. The AI is pretty mediocre though, and when you shoot an enemy, it's not uncommon for another to immediately assume the same exact position. Sometimes you'll pick off three or four guys in a row by firing in the same spot! You can't skip the cut-scenes, and the "low ammo" message is misleading (you just need to reload). FPS fans who value challenge and realism can bump up the grade by a letter, but I found Rainbow Six Vegas a tough pill to swallow.
Long running fans of the series have likely moved on. While Rainbow Six is still challenging (almost impossible on the realistic difficulty setting in parts), the strategy and realism have taken a hit. The benefit for the game design however is obvious, making it accessible, engrossing and gripping. Vegas is one of the better efforts this year.
