In Vital Force, the player takes the role of Jessica (eight years old) who suddenly wakes up in an abandoned subway station. Well, except for all those hostile ghosts which are not too pleased with Jessica's presence. The goal of the game is to escape the subway through exploration.

Jessica's only tool is her smartphone which is thankfully loaded with a ghost hunter app: it flashes red when it detects ghostly presence in the area. Ghosts can only be seen when looking through the phone's camera which also serves as weapon: making a snapshot of a ghost and its health will decrease because of the flash. However, using the phone drains the battery and as soon as it is dead, Jessica probably follows soon. Replacements and health packs can be found within the levels and by opening lockers.

Between fighting ghosts, there are also more quiet passages during which Jessica has to find keys through exploration.
