Giant Bomb (Mar 29, 2011)
WWE All Stars has the wrestlers you want performing their moves in the craziest ways imaginable, making for a fresh-feeling game that's a lot of fun to play.

This game adds a ton of fun to a genre that I felt was becoming dull and pointless to buy each new game. The game makes you feel like the nostalgia of wrestling is back. It also gives you the opportunity to create those dream matches that you always wanted to see but never got the chance to see in real life. This is a solid wrestling game for any video game library out there.

Other than the minor complexity of controls that were implemented in the game, it is a lot of fun. For those of you who would never think of playing previous wrestling games like Smackdown vs Raw or others, this game might be what you are looking for. I never thought I could get into a wrestling game and WWE All Stars had me hooked from the beginning, wanting to unlock all the wrestlers and arenas to laying the smackdown with my own created player. I would have to say that if I could only have one wrestling game in my collection, this would be it.

The game's pitch was always to offer accessible, even-more-ridiculous fun that would mix up Legends and Superstars. If that's all you want, it delivers.

For wrestling fans WWE All Stars is a top notch title, especially the Fantasy match ups, but it soon becomes repetitive pretty quickly for the average gamer. The controls are nowhere near as simple as they could have been and the AI is pretty tough, especially when you’re outnumbered. It’s certainly better than Legends of Wrestlemania was, but still fails to climb to the dizzy heights of a must see pay-per-view event.
God is a Geek (Apr 01, 2011)
Perhaps it is unfair to keep comparing WWE All Stars to the Smackdown Vs. Raw series. Those games are designed for accuracy, this is meant to be a light arcade style game. Perhaps its recommended retail price being slightly cheaper than that of ordinary full releases reflects the “lite” idea. But whether that is the intention or not, the game does lack staying power. Stylistically and gameplay wise, THQ have done a great job of capturing the arcade spirit, but people demand more when they are purchasing a game, instead of just putting a few coins in an arcade machine. There needs to be something to keep users coming back.
