More On Dražen Petrović

Dražen Petrović was a Croatian basketball player who played in a few European clubs (including a season with Real Madrid) before moving to the USA and starting a second career in the NBA. There he played for the Portland Trail Blazers and the New Jersey Nets, before returning to Europe and dying in a traffic accident in Germany in 1993.

The reason behind the game carrying his name is probably his popularity in Spain at the time. During his only season in Real Madrid the team won a Copa del Rey and the 1988–89 FIBA European Cup Winner's Cup.
