Trench is a sequence in the original Star Wars movie where the rebels attempt to destroy the Death Star by sending their starfighters through the meridian trench with the aim of firing a torpedo into a thermal exhaust port. Trench scenes has appeared in many official Star Wars games but it was also a common setting for many unlicensed games in the early 1980s. These are usually played from a third person perspective and feature simulated 3D graphics.
