Biography edit · view history

Junya Ōta (太田順也), better known in fan circles under the name ZUN, is the founder and sole member of the doujin circle Team Shanghai Alice, and creator of the massively popular Touhou doujin shooter series.

Ōta joined Taito in 1998 as a programmer, straight out of university, initially working on development tools for the PlayStation 2. He worked on five released titles: Greatest Striker, Magic Pengel, Bujingai, Graffiti Kingdom, and Exit. He left Taito in 2009 because of disillusionment with the company from continually working on titles that wound up cancelled and unreleased, and has since been working on Touhou full-time. He is also a well-known beer aficionado, and has written beer reviews for computer game magazine Comptiq.
