Biography edit · view history

Just before entering the games industry, Alex received an ultimatum from his wife: “either get help with your addiction, or start getting paid for it”. That addiction was to the Sid Meier’s Civilization series, and a few months later he began his employ with Firaxis, working on his dream project: CIV IV. Alex remained at Firaxis for almost five years, serving as the lead programmer for all Civilization IV expansion packs. Alex joined Scaleform (now part of the Media and Entertainment division of Autodesk) in 2009, as a Principal Engineer.

Previously, Alex wasted his youth obtaining a MEng in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College, a SM in Naval Architecture and a PhD in Hydrodynamics from MIT, he designed America's Cup yachts, he taught Numerical Hydrodynamics at MIT, and he developed electronic trading software for the Financial Services industry. Besides collecting graduate degrees, Alex's hobbies include sailing in the Aegean Sea, studying history, weight training, running, and raising his three kids.
