What ChangedOverview
Company OverviewParallax Software was a development studio best known for the Descent series. It was founded by Matt Toschlog and Mike Kulas in 1993. Prior to forming Parallax, Matt and Mike worked for subLOGIC and Looking Glass Technologies, writing simulations and 3D engines.

Parallax had offices in Champaign, Illinois and Ann Arbor, Michigan, and decided to split the company into two separate divisions in 1997: Outrage Entertainment and Volition. At that moment, Parallax Software Corp. ceased to exist.

On December 29th, 2015, it was revealed on the Good Old Games forums in a thread regarding the removal from sale, Descent, Descent II and Descent 3, that Parallax Software in fact, still exists as of 2015. Parallax still owns the copyrights to Descent and Descent II and terminated in the Fall of 2015, the 21 year old sales agreement that they had with Interplay due to a royalties dispute where Parallax claims that since 2007, Interplay has not paid any royalties to Parallax for the sales of Descent and Descent II, thus Interplay has lost all rights to sell Descent and Descent II. GoG has removed Descent and Descent II from sale but Steam has not and Parallax is looking into exactly why Steam hasn't removed Descent and Descent II from sale.
