Overview

IO Interactive (IOI) was established in September 1998 as a joint venture between Nordisk Film & TV and the game developer Reto-Moto.

IO Interactive develops advanced computer games for the global market. Using proprietary technologies IOI products are represented on all major formats such as PC, Xbox, PS2 and GameCube. IO Interactive games are widely recognized for their innovative storytelling, excellent gameplay and graphics combined with a highly competitive game technology.

The company's first title, Hitman: Codename 47, a third-person 3D action game, was published for PC by Eidos in November 2000. So far more than 600,000 copies have been sold. The sequel Hitman 2: Silent Assassin was released worldwide in October 2002 for PC, PS2 and XBOX, and has sold more than 3 million units.

In October 2003 IOI released a new action adventure title, Freedom Fighters, which was developed in collaboration with the game publisher Electronic Arts. More than 1 million copies have been sold so far.

The third installment in the Hitman series, Hitman: Contracts - entered the streets worldwide in April 2004 and has sold more than 1,6 million copies.

Today, IOI is a part of the Eidos group, one of the world's leading publishers and developers of entertainment software.

IOI's developer network also includes high profile technology companies such as Microsoft, Intel, Sony and Nintendo, besides a long list of universities and art schools.

IOI's technology development team consists of programmers, software engineers and mathematicians with considerable experience in game programming and 3D graphics. Graphic designers, artists and animators are hired from the game and entertainment industry as well as art schools.
