Biography edit · view history
Jez Sherlock started his game development career in Yorkshire, UK during 1988, straight after leaving high school by applying to local game publisher CDS Software. Initially for a trainee position Sherlock landed the job after demonstrating his own hobbyist programs written in assembly language for the Amstrad CPC. When compared against the other applicants Sherlock was told on the spot that his application had set him aside and CDS was impressed to find he was already an advanced programmer. He was invited back the very next day.
Initially porting an existing Bubble Bus title 'The Ice Temple' to the Amstrad CPC in just a few weeks, he went on to develop the C64 version too before moving onto the Amiga and beyond. To date Sherlock has programmed for most of the gaming hardware released and has shipped titles for all the major publishing players including Activision, Electronic Arts and Sega. Notable achievements in programming include pioneering work in animation compression, motion blending and data streaming technologies.
Since 1988, Sherlock has gained experience as a Programmer, Game Designer, Producer and Technical Director. This wide experience has seem him speaking at industry conferences and meetings as well as authoring magazine articles - he even appeared on TV.
In 2005 Sherlock became Technical Director at Sega of America.
