I'd also like the option to tick the checkbox for all messages on the current page. It's a pain trying to clear out my messages when the only options are "pluck single grains of sand" and "nuclear detonation".

Have a greasemonkey script to add just such a confirmation. I have tested it myself (a terrifying experience!), and it seems to work correctly.

I looked into shift-clicking checkboxes, but that looks like a pain to do by hand, and I didn't want to pull in jquery to do it. Actually, I'm not sure that it's possible to pull in jquery for a greasemonkey script.
